Well, update failed I guess. Said my phone was in restore mode. Good job I did a back up before I downloaded.

Currently restoring *sigh*

If you drill down into the map, you'll see that it routes you past every available StartleBucks on the way - that explains the HyperCaffinated arrival time.

:)

Average walking speed is typically 3-4 miles an hour. So actually Google has accounted for stopping at a Starbucks, getting stuck at traffic lights and stopping to eat at least one Chicago dog with the works! ;)

Itunes froze on me during my initial attempt to update. I had to force quit. The second attempt was fine.

Backing up still feels like it takes way too long though.

Just checked and it shows up for me under Settings - General - Usage underneath Cellular Data Usage.

But I'm with Rogers in Canada.

If you're with ATT and they don't have tethering enabled yet then the setting to actually turn it on will be hidden.

AFTER upgrading to 3.1, I spent about 30 minutes re-arranging apps in the updated iTunes Applications pane, pressed "apply", expecting the new positions to take effect -- it restored the positions BACK to the way they were before I did all that moving! (or rather -- it had ZERO effect)...

...^^This here...

Would love a separate password window for mail & internet apps

With iPhones used by multiple users in a house hold sometimes. It would be nice that to be able to protect my Mail, Internet, and other apps if needed by a password.

Will I have to wait for OS 6.0 for this little but useful add on?

I don't think it's that common for people to share cell phones...

Does this update your carrier version as well?

I dont want to update, but i dont want to miss out on MMS because of it.

can i get MMS without updating to 3.1?

I connected, synced and ejected my iPod Touch after 3.1.1 update and now I have a process called 'Image Capture Extension' running on my Mac.

It's pointing back to an iPod when looked at in Activity Monitor.

Anyone else?

On 3.0, if you were scrolling down the list of updates, the icons for the apps wouldn't load while scrolling which was annoying. Now they do load while scrolling.

Require Passcode

What happened to the 1 hour option in require passcode. After updating, I can only go up to 15 minutes. Anyone else find this to be true?

Updated to iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1. iPhone continues to work great on 'FI elisa' with MMS and tethering. :)

Oh no- tethering is still available for the LOW price of $29.99/month with 3.1. It is a great day to be an AT&T customer the representative said at the press conference!

Had they made it $9.99 or less I might have considered it, but how about raping the consumers that have already secured your company's future again and again. Especially when other companies have made it free - Trio. We're just stuck and there's nothing else we can do except jailbreak or not update! Nice! Take a lesson from Sprint, the way they pissed off all their customers with ETFs etc and their downturn and do the right thing?!

Can a company give a little to get a lot anymore? The only one I see taking care of it's customers is Costco (reducing food margins/profits to keep their members caused them to miss earnings/profits a few months back and the stock dipped) and they don't even sell the iphone!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7C144 Safari/528.16)

Hmm... Updated my 3GS and iTunes just fine. I now have a Tethering switch where there was none before!

I haven't actually tried it though.

(no, I never used any hacks to enable it).

Voice control over Bluetooth - about time! With all the features and fixes I figure I'm about a year and a half away from replacing my Blackberry. Still need to see 1) a week view and 2) the ability only alert on messages that are "important".

...tried the install....and it failed and said i had to restore....lost all my pictures, have to reload all my music, re install my apps.....f*ck you apple seriously f*ck you

Nothing useful in this OS upgrade.

What about removal of the 3G cellular restrictions and enabling third-party music applications to run in the background?

I don't want to jailbreak my Iphone but Apple will force me to do this.

Still can't import .ics files into iCal

When someone on Exchange sends a calendar invite via email, it still appears as an attachment that you can't import or open in iPhone 3.1.

So much for being business friendly.
