Does anyone know why we can not still put links on images on Pages?

I dont see any reason , does someone?

endnote integration = death of word on my mac

If it works like it says it works, then new endnote integration will effectively mean the death of ms word on my mac. Hooray!

I'm about to start my dissertation, and was praying for something like this. Word is the only program on my mac that gives me (and has ever given me) problems. The dreaded spaces issues is the least of it.

Man, I totally agree. I just hope it works well with Word's change tracking. Of course now I have to use Endnote. I spent hours trying to get Endnote to properly format a guy's last name that was three parts: ex. "C. von Der Beeck".

Is everything okay Mr. Biggs... Mr. van der Beek? /jayandsilentbob

iWork.com looks nice but

iWork.com looks nice but it is not collaboration .

Microsoft did a better stuff one year ago but unfortunately they dont offer it on Office for Mac ( at least i dont know )

The quicklook filters have also been updated. They now include a thumbnail bar down the left.

Is there really still no auto-save for Pages? REALLY??

I still can't believe that wasn't in iWork '08, I've lost loads of work due to there be no auto-save and its a standard feature in every other office app and has been for a long time.

Yeah, amazing. Fortunately, I haven't lost any work that was important (I've grown accustomed to Command-S).

Can anyone with the trial tell me if it's possible to upgrade to a full version electronically? If so I'll download the trial and upgrade, if not I'll just have it shipped and wait til then.

Yes it is possible to unlock the program electronically. When you buy iWork, enter your serial number in to the application to unlock it.

I believe you can also buy a serial number online. There's a link in the application.

Thanks a bunch!

iWork made the keynote for me. I am very excited.

09 has almost everything I want. Plus the online collaboration is a nice addition, and I am most happy Apple was not foolish to make these webapps, but rather amazing desktop apps which are enhanced by the cloud.

iWork is turning into a killer suite. I bought 15 licenses today for my company, and if iWork 09 delivers as it is billed--speed and quality--we will buy another 85 licenses here.

Great job Apple.

Has anyone had any issues with the 13" or 15" not working with a projector via the mini displayport to vga adaptor? The reason I post here is that there is not much sense for me to buy a new notebook if I cannot reliably output my Keynote app to a projector.

charts?

In previous Numbers there was not possible to make the smoothed X-Y chart (or, how excel describes this feature, "scatter with data points connected by smoothed lines without markers"). Does anybody know if it is possible in this release 09?

After using Pages '09 for some time today, I must say it's very nice. But, why is it still somewhat difficult to modify templates? It's not difficult, per se, it's just not very discoverable. You essentially have to open up an actual document, format it the way you want and then save changes to the template, and not the file.

In Word, you can simply open a skeleton template in a new window and modify it that way. It's discoverable and makes more sense. I don't know why this can't be done via Pages. Actually, this is how template editing should work on all the iWork apps.

No, I give many presentations and never had any such problems.

Don't mess with the default settings and you won't have any issues, out of the box "it just works".

RTL language support?

Are RTL language properly supported now? It is incredibly frustrating for me to have to use Word in Windows in order to edit Hebrew documents. I want to use iWork for that, but I can't because of such poor support.

error bars in number, its about time!

There's error bars, then there's error bars. Good luck in adding PROPER error bars ( i.e. an value of +/- uncertainty for each value in a scatter plot)

Only looking to plot 50 points - reduced numbers to a frozen lump.

:(

iWork documents are no longer bundles

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that iWork (Pages at least; I assume the other apps are the same) saves documents as actual files rather than bundles/packages. So you can attach them directly via email, rather than zipping them first.

Code:
$ cd document.pages
-bash: cd: document.pages: Not a directory

In fact, they appear to already be zipped, so they've taken a leaf out of Microsoft's book in that regard (the Office 2007/2008 format is the same).

Code:
$ unzip document.pages
Archive: document.pages
 extracting: thumbs/PageCapThumbV2-1.tiff
 extracting: QuickLook/Thumbnail.jpg
 extracting: QuickLook/Preview.pdf
 extracting: buildVersionHistory.plist
  inflating: index.xml

Unsure if you need to re-save old documents or whether they'll be converted as they're opened, since I don't have any existing .pages documents.

You can change in preferences:

General > Saving > Save new documents as packages

Unchecked by default, no doubt for easier iWork.com uploading.

I've only gone out to TV and monitor via miniDP/VGA, and not a projector. But I've noticed with the TV that sometimes the reported resolutions aren't actually supported by the device; you might want to try turning the video settings down to a mirrored 640x480, then raise them up until you find the projector's max.
