to Admin: there is no need to delete my posts, as I had not broken any rules of the forum.

Here is a screenshot of the new iDisk icon that had been changed recently and it looks bad, in my opinion. Is there any way to delete it?

The icon has been like that since the launch of mobileme months ago...

Atleast, I just finished my backup...... ;)

Double restart.....
Gray screen taking longer on each restart (but I have a lot of stuff on my MB)
Blue screen

C'mon baby........

Pinwheel....

C'mon baby........ You can do it......

yep - like the mini, my screen looks a little crisper (should've grabbed screen shots [if I knew how... on the PC there is a key for that:rolleyes:....]), and my wallpaper has better clarity (not as matted).

Wow, MB internal speakers sound better when playing through itunes (just like on my wife's mini). Hey wait a minute, did they change the equilization? I don't recall that clarity on each instruments or the suttle effects in that song??? Oh they definately improved sound.... I don't have to turn up the sound that loud (even for the bad quality songs that were recorded through a webcast)..... Even with my old (2004) ipod earbuds, sound goood.....:D
 - I am really confused but happy.. It seems that this update may do some sort of quick pre-sampling and then adjusts the equilization or something. i even went back to some of my not so great sounding live band performance videos. I mean, you can't do anything about the condition of the videos, but the sound is better and it looks like quicktime is applying a little clarity to them (used to be really grainy - especially on my old 1994 footage when playing in full screen mode)....

YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. QUICKTIME SCREEN RESOLUTION IMPROVED. Before this update the video looked the same in in QT as VLC. now, after the update...... QT improves the color saturation, trying to make it look more HD. I have 2 videos stopped side by side. if I knew how to get a screen print, I would show you..... I have to have them side by side to really see it...

Definately some improvements.....

Some one also made the comment that their screen is bigger. IT IS! I have a lot of stuff on my dock and it used to go right to the edge of both sides. Not anymore. I actually could squeeze 1 or two more items.

Someone made the comment that the screen looks like a mbp - so that is what all the fuss on the video card is all about. :D

Even brought up iphoto - definately improved clarity in pictures.

One annoying thing I found. ink window for inkwell seems to be broken for expose. I don't know for sure if this was always the case, but when I hit the expose and click on another window - the ink window is always staying in front and the window i clicked on is right behind it....

my bamboo works, and it looks like inkwell did a little improvement with recognizing my chicken scratch for handwriting.

OK, THIS WAS A LONG POST. WAY TO GO :apple: I think this is one of those updates with a lot of subtle things that you will notice over time. So far I likes.

Wish I could test more, but I gotta work in the morning.

Installed here, 136MB on my MBP - no problems so far.
I did download the Combo separate with plans to do a new OS reinstall within a couple of days.:)

about the faulty nvdia graphic card

I hope they don't include an update to make the fans run more often, like what Dell and HP have done.

adium ignores mute after update

so i was forced to go the combo updater route after some freezes during installing through software update but I am up and running now.. everything looks good ...minus the fact that Adium (possible other programs) completely ignore the fact that my computer is muted...

ie.. i get sent and received sounds from adium even though the computer is muted and itunes is playing WITH NO SOUND....

yes I am running sound source and using an external sound card but even if i disconnect my external card and speakers I get adium sounds.... odd very odd

Using a standard Apple keyboard Command + Shift + 3 takes screenshots.

Sounds like a placebo effect to me.

I must really go to bed. But every time I look at the screen (on my mackbook), I say wow. :D

Hmm... Apple gettiing ready for Blu-Ray?

I had been working on a video for my wife, so tonight I went into imovie and played it. imovie took a little longer to come up, but definately some resolution improvements. Even in full screen mode (which usually adds some grainy-ness), it looks ike Apple is sampling and trying to display in hi-def.

Oh Safari is slower  but... I have the same issue with Windows IE when the phising filter is turned on. Maybe they fixed a security flow for phishing that people said safari was lacking. I know with IE, it scans the webpage code and then goes to MS's database. Even Safari looks crisp. Even some of my youtube videos look crisp.

I think I know why safari seem slower. By browsing history is gone. it looks like it has to rebuild your cache. After the first view, it speeds up when re-visiting a page. ;)

I still cannot get over the resolution... I feel like a kid at Christmas with a new macbook.

Oh, if anyone thinks I am nuts..... I then wonder 2 things.

1. Resolution improved
-or-
2. my pre-configured macbook was not configured right and this update fixed it.

I mean the color definition and crispness is just WOW!!!! It did not look this good when I took it out of the box in April......

SO THIS IS APPLE :D

Such as? What new items are you seeing?

Dock

Recent Items

Force Quit

Like I said I may have just not looked in my apple menu in a long time and slept through these changes.

Apple is a nice company, but they're not magic. There is absolutely, 100%, totally for sure, no possible way that your screen resolution has improved. You sound like a bad candidate for drug testing.

well, it is still a pretty recent change and I had not seen (or noticed) it before 10.5.5. I am now wondering if there is a (free) program/terminal command that could remove the gratuitous iDisk icon...

if you want to eliminate it from the Finder sidebar, go to Finder, then to Preferences... and uncheck the iDisk box

I installed the combo update and it seems fine. I always install the combo updates, just incase something was borked up, I like to be paranoid. The only problem (this was a well-known problem from iTunes 8 as well) is that I f*cking lost my beloved translucent menus hacked in from 10.5.1. :( So it goes, I guess.

SO THIS IS APPLE.
There are times that I've briefly thought that my screen resolution was increased, then I quickly remembered that it was just the LSD kicking in.

Started having things like this happen with 10.5 and still having problems. I had my Graphics Card swapped out and have since upgraded. A reboot fixes every time. See the degeneration:

I had the exact same problem. Go to apple.com,support,download and manual get it, thats what I did and worked fine.

Oh really? Have you read other posts where they noticed screen improvements or that their screen seems larger? watch my next post.

Well, audio quality sucks on all mac laptops now since the transition to intel. With G3 chips, sound was really quite nice.

Go check out headfi.org. They've got some nice tips on how to get quality sound out of your macbook.

your point is??

Cause my MacBook Pro STILL spews out those random spark popping sounds and now it's adopted a new fad... hissing and buzzing when any audio come through the speakers... nice huh? So... you mind telling me why I'm one of the unlucky ones?

Thanks, like I said. I wish I would have known that, so that I could post the before and after. But here is my clarity. It was not this nice before. Also here is the side-by-side of the VLC vs QT
