I'd guess that the download was garbled somehow. I'd start over again from the beginning.

to Admin: there is no need to delete my posts, as I had not broken any rules of the forum.
Here is a screenshot of the new iDisk icon that had been changed recently and it looks bad, in my opinion. Is there any way to delete it?
Atleast, I just finished my backup......![]()
10.5.5 is a dud for me, airport is still dropping like flies + throughput is slower, hissing and buzzing through built in speakers is a new one for me as well.WTF is Apple smoking these days![]()
Installed here, 136MB on my MBP - no problems so far.
I did download the Combo separate with plans to do a new OS reinstall within a couple of days.![]()
No new GPU beans spilled in this update. The only GMA X3100 related file that is updated is the one that I posted. So, no new GPUs for MacBooks then would you say?
I hope not.
I hope it fixes some airport issues. My MacBook always has the hardest time connecting to the wifi at my college. *stupid timeout error*
Double restart.....
yep - like the mini, my screen looks a little crisper (should've grabbed screen shots [if I knew how... on the PC there is a key for that....])
Some one also made the comment that their screen is bigger. IT IS! I have a lot of stuff on my dock and it used to go right to the edge of both sides. Not anymore. I actually could squeeze 1 or two more items.
Someone made the comment that the screen looks like a mbp - so that is what all the fuss on the video card is all about.
Even brought up iphoto - definately improved clarity in pictures.
Such as? What new items are you seeing?
I must really go to bed. But every time I look at the screen (on my mackbook), I say wow.
Hmm... Apple gettiing ready for Blu-Ray?
I had been working on a video for my wife, so tonight I went into imovie and played it. imovie took a little longer to come up, but definately some resolution improvements. Even in full screen mode (which usually adds some grainy-ness), it looks ike Apple is sampling and trying to display in hi-def.
Oh Safari is slowerbut... I have the same issue with Windows IE when the phising filter is turned on. Maybe they fixed a security flow for phishing that people said safari was lacking. I know with IE, it scans the webpage code and then goes to MS's database. Even Safari looks crisp. Even some of my youtube videos look crisp.
I think I know why safari seem slower. By browsing history is gone.it looks like it has to rebuild your cache. After the first view, it speeds up when re-visiting a page.
I still cannot get over the resolution... I feel like a kid at Christmas with a new macbook.
Oh, if anyone thinks I am nuts..... I then wonder 2 things.
1. Resolution improved
-or-
2. my pre-configured macbook was not configured right and this update fixed it.
I mean the color definition and crispness is just WOW!!!! It did not look this good when I took it out of the box in April......
SO THIS IS APPLE![]()
well, it is still a pretty recent change and I had not seen (or noticed) it before 10.5.5. I am now wondering if there is a (free) program/terminal command that could remove the gratuitous iDisk icon...
There are times that I've briefly thought that my screen resolution was increased, then I quickly remembered that it was just the LSD kicking in.SO THIS IS APPLE.
Started having things like this happen with 10.5 and still having problems. I had my Graphics Card swapped out and have since upgraded. A reboot fixes every time. See the degeneration:
Apple is a nice company, but they're not magic. There is absolutely, 100%, totally for sure, no possible way that your screen resolution has improved. You sound like a bad candidate for drug testing.
your point is??
Cause my MacBook Pro STILL spews out those random spark popping sounds and now it's adopted a new fad... hissing and buzzing when any audio come through the speakers... nice huh? So... you mind telling me why I'm one of the unlucky ones?

Oh really? Have you read other posts where they noticed screen improvements or that their screen seems larger? watch my next post.
Using a standard Apple keyboard Command + Shift + 3 takes screenshots.
