iTunes does not work at all after 10.5.5 update it does not open i have restarted a couple times and tried again but it still doesn't work i guess i will reinstall iTunes but it seems weird that all of this happened just after i "upgraded" to 10.5.5.:(

Just after I finished writing this my time machine backup failed
not happy with apple

Don't forget to repair the permissions. There is a lot of stuff that needs to be corrected after the update.

I wonder why Apple does not give this feedback (With a notify window or so? Or automated in the installer?).

BTW: I'm happy OpenGL is updated. My "old" PM G5 (ATI X800XT) is passing the 2.1 test ;-) Which is great.

Runs great on all my Macs, nice update! I'm just waiting for the Combo now, just in case :D....

How do I repair Permissions? I forgot!!

Not necessarily. If I recall correctly, the first MacBooks were not introduced via a keynote.

Besides, Apple doesn't care about computers any more. It's all about toys.

I don't care when they come - I just want them released (with a fix for the yellow screen issue).

10.5.5 Graphics fix: Diablo II launches now!

Just gone on Software update and 10.5.5 Is there , downloading now

Downloaded and installed, and I can happily report that this update fixed at least one problem with the nVidia drivers that was introduced in 10.5.3. 10.5.3 removed the drivers for the 256 color mode, for nVidia chipsets. This broke Diablo II as it would kick into 256 color mode to display the startup animations. 10.5.5 returned 256 color mode, but made it so it is not user selectable. Fine by me, Diablo II now launches without me having to revert to the 10.5.2 drivers first.

Huzzah!

MobileMe and iCal

MobileMe sync is back up and running for me. The first sync after install took a good 10-15 minutes, but it finally went through.

Interestingly, there seems to be an improvement in MobileMe sync between iCal and iPhone/iPod touch calendar. Before, if iCal was open and running on my MacBook, I would have to refresh my iCal calendars in order to see any pushed updates (new or edited events) made on my iPod Calendar. Now I can watch these updates happen in real time without any such refreshing (the whole process seems to be a little faster/reliable as well).

I'm sure these updates fix minor bugs but you don't notice them, however they always make other bugs appear that are noticeable. iCal all of a sudden has random repeated events. MobileMe is a joke btw.

Try running Disk Utility and see if that will help clean up any problems with permissions or the directory. It is in the Utilities folder within your Applications folder.
Be sure to restart after permissions repair - things ought to respond much faster.

Duplicated Entourage calendar events

After I booted up with 10.5.5 it synchronized my iPhone and Entourage calendar. This has been working very will since the first update for 10.5. Now the problem is back . I hope subsequent syncs don't duplicate my events. At least it didn't start deleting events from my iPhone.

Does anyone know of a program that will assist in the de-duping of calendar events?

Hmmm, combined update size for me is listed as 608 MB

Never done this before, does that mean I lose 608MB to the update, or does stuff get deleted to compensate?

Wow. Mine is 321M. I'm on a Mac Pro going from 10.5.4 and I've never missed an update. What Gives?

A lot of stuff will be replaced, so you shouldn't see full 600M drop in hdd space.

new macs tomorrow? :) :D

Yuh. G5 chips on laptops, 2 of 'em. I hear there are also raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
and some others were talking about brown paper packages tied up with strings.... but these are just a few of my favorite things (to see released)

not working

I attempted to install via update, only for the install to fail. The error quoted that update can't verify the contents of the 10.5.5 download

I'm going to try and manually download it....
