It rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe that is because I am waiting for a Mac upgrade, but that is crap. Very confusing messages being sent across.

They rename OSX to macOS. They add new features like Siri, optimized storage, etc.

But on the other hand they say "Super. Computer.", as well as that is where they "believe the future of the computer" going, and then release this garbage advertisement.

This is getting aggravating and the worst part is, I bought into their ecosystem, so I feel a bit trapped with options unless I spend money to get out of it.

Another poor quarter for iPad sales and Apple still thinks this line of attack is going to catch fire? If Apple wanted to actually attempt to get the iPad back into the good graces of the general public it shouldn't have effectively jacked up the price of the iPP 9.7. or it should have included the pencil. It also should have designed the pencil to fit somewhere convenient on the iPad.

I eventually bought an iPP 9.7 when it went on sale -- would have never paid the asking list. It's overpriced even by Apple standards. It's hard for me to see an non-technophile going into a store, looking at the Air or MB and then walking out with an iPP. It's different than those of us here who might own a few Macs and a few iPads in our tech heavy arsenal. Most people thought just have one "computer" device, not including their phone, if that.

I wish Apple would actually start trying again instead of phoning it in. But, even iPhones are slipping so hard to say they are even phoning it in.

What is a computer?
  • It's something I manage my files and backups on.
  • It's something I can install third party software and multiple operating systems on.
  • It's something I can plug external storage into.
  • It's something I can plug a DVD drive into if the OS crashes and I need to restore it.
  • It's something I can plug a mouse into and play games with.
  • It's something I can run the full Adobe Creative Suite on.
  • It's something I can use typing over 50 keystrokes per minute and receive tactile feedback from the touch.
  • It's something that has actually mastered COPY AND FRIGGING PASTE.
Is an iPad a computer? Is a lamp an orangutang?

They are doing the same thing Microsoft did following Windows 7. They got too bloated, too cocky... and they let marketing and businesssmen run the company instead of focusing on user experience and their community. Tim Cook may be an amazing businessman, but he's cutting off his nose in spite of his face.

Very true. I just cannot justify the price of the IPP, unless I find a bargain, it's jsut so overpriced for what it is.

A 256gb IPP, which I would consider minimum for a computer with a pencil and KB sets me back $2400 AUD. $2300 AUD gets me a 13" MBP..... The IPP is ridiculous overpriced, they want laptop prices for an iPad.

I find it weird that people always bring up the file system as a key feature that it needs.

What?

Any app is free to have its own file system. You can share files between apps. Why do you need anything else? Why does there have to be a single unified file system like on macOS or Windows?

There's only one thing that leads me to say iOS is not a computer operating system: there's no realistic way to write programs on it.

For me, it's the lack of apps. If there was After Effects, Toon Boom, etc for iPad, I might be interested. Right now, it's just not the right tool for what I need.

And about 2/3rds more than your MBP. Using a Mac is now frustrating for me because of its limitations now that I have adjusted my workflow for iPad. An iPad can do so much more than a Mac...and so much less. Neither can do everything.

Genuinely interested: What do you use your iPad for that you can't do on a Mac?

I think Apple will introduce this next year when they'll introduce a whole new file system for the Mac (if it still exists) and iOS.

Wish Apple donated MacOS to the hackingtosh community so we could see some real hardware innovation again:cool:
Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't started implementing some features.. for example the fact that you can't edit song metadata in iOS...blows my mind.

I agree with this all except 50 keystrokes per minute is SUPER SLOW. Average is around 200.

This is one of the few Apple commercials that's rubbed me the wrong. There is nothing there to make me think Wow, I've got to get one of these. If they focused on what makes the iPad Pro a 'Pro' model, with its larger screen, better speakers, better processing and colour accuracy, then I'd actually be very impressed. But if I wanted a keyboard and proper multi-tasking, I would have just bought a MacBook.

Speaking of which, the video also belies the fact that you're getting a keyboard and stylus (sorry, Pencil) to complete the experience; when in actual fact they're very expensive add-ons. And that keyboard is nowhere near a substitute for any Mac keyboard - it feels absolutely horrid.

Honestly, I think if Apple just produced some decent commercials about the Mac experience, they would have a far greater impact on the viewer. Everyone knows what a tablet is and what they can do, but many Windows users don't even know what a Mac is. My parents, bless 'em, still thought that you couldn't open documents created on Windows on a Mac! Factor in the razor-thinness of the rMB and MBA, and I see no compelling reason to purchase an iPad Pro with a keyboard and Pencil.

I hope something from engineering tells the people in marketing this before they discontinue the Mac, otherwise iOS could have a problem.

I hope they make xCode available for Windows. Then my Surface is going to do EVERYTHING! :D

Ok at this point I'm definitely starting to fear for the Mac.

Ugh, you guys have it all wrong; possibly because so many of you are device-fixated, and so many are derisive of the Cloud. Apple's strategy, as well as that of everyone else investing in information technology: your data lives in the Cloud, you access and manipulate it through a variety of devices and interfaces that share the same data, and you choose the device depending on what it is you are doing. Your laptop, desktop, tablet, phone, media device, etc. are all part of the same computing infrastructure. I own all of those; they are all connected, all share data, and all have their use.

I said this a while back that they were phasing out Macs in favor of iPads. Pretty soon these iPad Pro's will be sold in the same size as the Pro's - 15 inch, 13 inch. MacBooks and Macbook Pros will be phased out replaced my iPad and iPad Pro. Macs are dead.

Yes.. Apple, what 'else' can it do... We are all waiting

Gosh. I hope not,... how does one restore on the device itself? Have a iPad Pro go into 'Power wash' mode like the Chromebooks? umm.. actually that's not a bad idea.
