For the many trolls on here that don't seem to "get" the iPad or how it can be a primary device or arguing what a "computer" is. I'll remind you that in many parts of the world (yes they exist), people's ONLY computing device is their smart phone. And its working out just fine.

For those who want to keep in touch with friends, browse the web, watch some video, listen to music......basically not NERDING OUT......an iPad is perfect. Why spend $1300+ when you can spend much less for the same things so many average people just want to use it for.

How is MY work related to travelling?

Because I travel all over the world for work?

Can we simply agree that I bought the best device for my purposes that fulfilled all of my requirements. Tablet, Laptop, full desktop.. Done. With plenty of battery power.

One device to rule them all. Not two devices to do one task.
Ic. If you say so.

Ic. If you say so.
I do, Want to dispute that?
Maybe it doesn't work as a tablet, doesn't have a robust app store etc.. Anything?
You seem to be the authority on it.

Instead of slagging off a product that is in a totally different league to the iPad Pro why not get back on track and defend the device that desperately wants to be a laptop with a phone OS.

A computer is the machine I use to create media that is consumed on an iPad and iPhone.

For my best friend, a computer is the thing he hooks his iPad Pro up to so he can run Astropad, turning his iPad Pro into a wacom cintiq replacement.

For a consumer, an ipad pro might be a replacement for a 'computer' (at much higher price) but in business it's still very limited.

They need to fix two things - add a mouse and add support for uploading something other than a photo via the browser.

Why a mouse? Because it increases productivity ten fold. Try editing a line in a document using your finger to split a word.

Document Upload. Most busines docs are not photos. They are word, excel, csv, zip files and so on and not being able to attach these to your business web app is an real issue for businesses. Yes you can upload to dropbox but it adds more steps, more setup and management and you shouldn't have to.

Honestly, if you cannot sense the sarcasm or see the pink elephant in the room, that we *do* like iPads but we don't like them as forced Mac replacements, then it's not us who need to move on.
Who said Apple is forcing the iPad as a Mac replacement?? YOU! Apple will not stop making Macs anytime soon. So relax, your crotch warmers will be updated in the fall.

The majority of those things in my list were things that a 'Pro' would expect a computer to do. I use my Mac professionally, so I regard myself as a Pro user.

There is nothing 'Pro' about the iPad Pro. They should change it's name to the iPad Large instead.

Actually, looking at the buyers guide you well might think they have given up on making Macs... No givens on Macs these days. Esp headless desktops...

Thats fine and your use case. But please don't ever get a job in marketing......it wouldn't last.....iPad Large? Yikes.

I started to panic when the tablets had more processing power, memory, graphics oomph than Macs.
There will be smart phones with a more generous spec than MacBooks.

And whenever we have WWIII, Cloud data is the first thing to say say 'bye bye'.

And true to form, those that backed up to the Cloud and lost their precious data, will then be berated for NOT also backing up to an external hard drive.

Unfortunately in Apple speak "Pro" is just a sales & marketing term. IPP is a good tablet, equally still a consumption device. I can see why Apple want`s to push the IPP over the PC as Apple has full control of the environment, which equals far more profit or Apple.

Apple is solely about making $$$$ IOS is simply a vehicle to that objective, as such the Mac will remain to be mediocre as long as it "plays second fiddle" to the iToys. It`just a numbers game and that is all Apple today cares about...

Q-6

They are doing the same thing Microsoft did following Windows 7. They got too bloated, too cocky... and they let marketing and businesssmen run the company instead of focusing on user experience and their community. Tim Cook may be an amazing businessman, but he's cutting off his nose in spite of his face.

I think saying TC is an amazing businessman is yet to be proven. So far he has survived off of Steve Jobs era products and derivatives of those. His own product, AW, creates so little revenue for Apple that it doesn't even have its own category and is mixed in with Beats, ATV, and accessories. And Apple has even stumbled at TC's own expertise of supply chain management when the 27" iMac was prematurely introduced (something TC even made a mea culpa about), AW being "back ordered" for months just minutes after it when on sale, and not because it was THAT popular, and lately with the iPhone 6 SE and not being able to correctly forecast demand.

Yes, if Apple is starting to resemble Microsoft a bit its because Tim Cook's primary education came during his tenure at IBM and Compaq. He is not an original thinker, he just likes to play one on TV.

Surely theres a shift in strategy but Apple is also at the mercy of the chip industry for now.....until they can start putting ARM processors in Macbooks in a couple years.
