Reminds me of how utterly terrible iOS is at printing. I always get frustrated and finally end up switching to the Mac whenever I make a misguided attempt to print something on an iOS device.
Like you said, Apple could have simply done a simple spec upgrade and call it a day. They didn't. That ought to say something.
It says GREED by charging the same prices for ancient hardware.
You only have to look at the buyers guide from Macrumors to see how attractive the state of the Mac is today.Which part of the hardware is ancient?

And talking about the future (iPad). It's getting squeezed out by surface and chrome books. For a company focusing on mobile first it's hard to see they're putting lots of efforts into it.
Don't talk about software and services... it pales in comparison to what others have to offer. That's the sad state of Apple today.
Uh... didn't Apple just stopped making monitors, routers and servers? What ecosystem are you talking about? That is the beauty of the Apple ecosystem. Yes, on paper, each of their offerings seems inferior to the competition, but put them together, and you get a degree of integration you simply can't get with a mish-mash of hardware and software.
Apple is targeting the novice computer users. Their sales and marketing department contain far more employees then they've engineers. It's all smoke and mirror these days.Issue is that most companies use services such as docusign to sign documents, not Apples solution.

You mean their cloudofferings the state of Siri versus google now, maps?
I worked in the 90s when the term "paperless office" was tossed around a lot, but the combination of low-resolution screens that were no fun to read and the easy access to laser printers meant that paper use was actually skyrocketing. I printed emails that I wanted to save. I printed sections of technical manuals. I attended meetings where every participant had a printed agenda that went right into the trash or recycling at the end of the meeting.
Most of the tasks and features you describe are related to consumption of digital content. People who create things, designers, artists, engineers, have different priorities and workflows. From what I can see in both hardware and software, Apple no longer values the business of creative professionals.I mean using airpods with my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air and iMac.
I mean using my iPad to teach in the classroom, mirrored to the projector via an Apple TV.
I mean using iCloud Photo Library to sync my photos.
The Apple Watch is the best smartwatch available, and it works marvelously as an extension to my iPhone.
I mean using airdrop to pass files around. Siri works fine for me (and is actually pretty cool when used from the watch). I use maps over google maps. I am subscribed to Apple Music. Continuity is handy for making / receiving calls and texts on my other Apple devices. Then there's Apple Pay as well.
I am sure one could replicate all this functionality somehow via a hodgepodge of products from a myriad of manufacturers, but the point is that Apple does it all, and makes it all work so seamlessly together.
That's the beauty of the Apple ecosystem.
There goes AirPrint. Apple will simple define it away, no matter what users want or think.
Apple, please add more emojis, and make a more expensive ipad that's thinner and has less memory. There goes AirPrint. Apple will simple define it away, no matter what users want or think.
That's totally inaccurate and you know it. The beauty is you spent a lot to get perceived superiority, what actually have is overpriced hardware with weak services and the other platforms integrate fine too. Congrats. That is the beauty of the Apple ecosystem.
