Well... Apple has just released their new iPad Pro and I’m speechless, if you were going to use this iPad as a computer you would need to get the bigger size, the keyboard case and the Apple Pencil, all of this would cost £1,287, yet I can go buy the new MacBook Air for £1,199 and that has a bigger display, a physical keyboard, Touch ID, 2 USB C ports compared to 1 and 128gb compared to the base model iPad Pro 12.9” at 64gb. This is absolutely outrageous Apple are charging more money for their iPads than for their laptops, I can’t tell you how angry I am, I feel like Apple are trying to rob me, they should of at least included the Appl pencil and or the keyboard case in the box, this makes me feel sick.

You computers battery doesn't last as long, your computer is much heavier and takes up a lot more room in a backpack, your computer you can't write on to take notes, your computer doesn't take photos in the middle of class as well, your computer doesn't connect directly to the internet, there are many reasons for me that an iPad, (and that goes both ways)is much better than a laptop. I have MacBook Pro that runs great, but I don't ever touch it because the versatility of an iPad. I'm willing to pay for the iPad because in my case the pro's hands down out weigh the MacBook.

I wouldn’t be so salty if it wasn’t for the RAM being 6GB only on the 1TB model. I have more money than ever but I just plain refuse to spend $1899 to get 6GB of RAM on the 12.9”, which has had 4GB for three generations now unless you count that ridiculous one. No iPad is worth that much. I’m already thinking I overpaid for 256GB LTE.

Apple has never been a brand for prolos. If you feel it’s to expensive, prolo brands like asus and others would be glad to take your money. Something is only worth as much as people are willing to pay. The perceived value you prolos are putting on it are based on other comparable tablets or laptops that are not Apple products. It’s like comparing a Chevy Bolt to a Tesla. Sure they have similar specs but you will be paying more for the experience and refinement.

How does this explain leaving the old iPad Pro at the EXACT same price after releasing an update 16 months later? I love apple, but between the MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPad price increases it does seem to be a money grab.
I wonder if this will stabilize the second-hand market. I mean, instead of the resale value of your 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 taking a big hit on the introduction of an 11" iPad Pro, maybe the resale won't take as dramatic of a hit. Not holding my breath for that scenario... but it would soften the blow a bit if I could get enough out of my existing gear.

It is a slower version of it, yes.
No it’s not.

Bait and switch is a form of fraud where a retailer advertises a product at a low price (bait) only to substitute it with an inferior or more expensive product (switch) at the point of sale. There is no such thing as a “slower version” of bait and switch, whatever the hell that means.

Additionally, bait and switch is illegal. What law has Apple broken with its pricing structure?

So far, you’ve managed to show everyone reading this thread that you have no idea what the terms “price gouging” or “bait and switch” actually mean. Would you like to go for three?

For me an iPad is just dead weight, no matter how light it can be. It is certainly lighter than a laptop, but then I have to carry the iPad and a laptop, because the iPad cannot do the things I must do. It is lighter to carry just the laptop.

As for battery life, I always carry a charger with me. Laptops do not have great battery life. But honestly, no device does (except perhaps for those Moto phones with huge batteries).

The computer does not connect directly to the Internet nor does it take photos. But any cell phone can do that, and it can route the Internet to the laptop.

It is a good thing that people choose between the laptop and the iPad. With these increasing prices, it will become expensive to have them both.

They are very expensive but given the price of the iphones it's no surprise.

You don't have to buy them. I don' like the price of my max and this but I still love the products.

Nobody needs to upgrade if they don't want to. Apple see it as they offer options for lower price markets.

I’ll never understand people like you who call people that are shocked at an unnecessary price increase of $200 “entitled whiners”. Nobody is acting entitled to everything. But with pricing, you are giving expectations. People expect if there’s a price increase it’s going to be justified. Face ID is cool, but $200 worth of cool? People expected an increase and were ready, but not for that much.

But ok. Being shocked at an increase and being vocal on a forum is now “entitled whining”

Justified? How would you know? Stop whining and move in.

I was just talking to my co workers about this today. I made my decision and will not buy another Apple product after today. I’m going to use my Apple products I have now till they don’t work and move onto something else when time comes. I love Apple, the ecosystem, and all their products, but it’s becoming unaffordable for me at this point. Sad sad day. That one plus 6T sure looks tempting though.

Totally understandable and respectable viewpoint.

Previously I'd be in the "prices are increasing because Apple is adding new features" crowd but today I'm done.

Historically Apple would reduce the price for their older stuff whose R&D is paid for and using old technology. Now what they've done is keep the old iPad Pro at THE SAME PRICE with the SOLE PURPOSE of launching the new product at a higher price !!!!!

There is NO REASON AT ALL to not drop the price on their old products other than A) they expect demand to stay the same or B) the gains coming from selling fewer units at a higher price outweigh those they'd have selling more units at a lower price.

This is monopolistic behavior, which is very weird because Apple is not a monopolist. Nevertheless I'm increasingly pissed at them because this has been going on since the iPhone 8 launch last year. And happened across their product line (Mac, Watch, iPhone). I wonder what's the price point that will force people to switch.

Wow. Please don’t go postal on them.

Good thing you’ve edited your comment to include an attempt at a burn.

I think you shouldn’t take things so literally, perhaps. The Wikipedia (and probably the courts’) definition for a bait and switch is indeed the one you copied from Google. What you’ve clearly demonstrated here is that you’re unable to understand what the general idea of a term is.

Of course there’s not an actual Apple employee trying to dupe me. I think you could do a lot better at least trying to think figuratively.

I’m the mos loyal Apple customer you will find, but my god, their iPad Pro pricing is disgusting, Apple are being greedy
I dismissed claims that Apple was greedy.

When the new phone and watch prices were announced I scratched my head.
Today I sat there like wth.
Mac mini $600 for a 24gb ram upgrade?
The iPad prices, whew.

And I think you shouldn’t use terms that you clearly don’t know the meaning of, perhaps. Because even a figurative bait and switch doesn’t apply here.

And just admit it, you got burned pretty bad by your own ignorance. Take it like a man and move on.

The thing is these threads always spring up after an Apple event.
People then get out and buy the devices anyway and get a ton of value and joy out of using them.
Rinse and repeat.

Uh-oh. I think “most people” are having a fit. What happened? Wasn’t the XR your all’s shining moment? Lol
