The 64gb base model is an insult, if they want people to be able to use this as a computer they’ll need at lease 128gb of storage

Every year people complain about the 64gb devices. How can it insult you when you can buy a larger size. There are some who will enjoy the iPad with 64gb and be a great deal for them. Some do not use as a computer. It is good as it will never be one.

I think today convinced me to get the 2018 iPad as my third device ($299 32GB at Micro Center, btw). I just don't see 3x the value in the new Pro compared to that for my needs...
Good call. I switched from my 12.0 Pro to a 2018 iPad. Even though I pushed the limits of the Pro, I find that I'm able to do same things equally well on the 2018 iPad. It's a great value.

Because I’ll have to pay £150 to get the higher storage option, that’s why it insults me

I don’t care whether you buy one or not. And the last thing I care to do is send Apple a message. We’re having a simple discussion on a forum where people talk about how they feel about stuff
You may be having a simple discussion, but the OP isn’t. He’s clearly venting and raging about how angry he is about these price increases that he does t think are justified and declaring that he won’t buy a new iPad because of it.

Why..even...talk...then?
Because..it’s..fun..to..highlight..irrational..thinking?

I’ll probably get a new iPad at some point. I’m not dying to right now, but I will. Just because I’m not crazy about price increase doesn’t mean I’m boycotting Apple. Something you need to learn about nuance. Not everything is black and white
Good job at the attempt to speak for yourself. Just stop assuming that your attitude and intentions apply to anyone else - including the OP.

So have I got this right? They've removed the option for the previous Ipad Pro 12.9" with the home button?

A bit like they did for the Iphone X, folk thinking they may see a price drop but instead Apple stop selling it

I haven’t paid attention to the 12.9” since the original? Did it get a spec bump when the smaller one got the new screens?

Either way, for those in the market for the last gen 12.9” this should be good news. It means sales are coming as the inventory has to be cleared.

You would need to do so anyway as the 64GB is not enough. Do you think if Apple did not have a 64GB model, they were going to give you the 128gb for the 64gb price? LOL!

They are giving MacBook Air buyers 128gb base model why not with an iPad they claim to be a computer replacement?

True but it was cheeky of Apple for excluding a 128GB option because they know people see that as the sweet spot.

This new iPad is clearly for two different user, those who will use as a primary device , who I would recommend they should go all out for in terms of storage , and those who use it as a secondary device to compliment their main computer and phone, for those 64GB and cloud storage is plenty.

Yep even if opened, that’s one thing I can say about Apple, they are good with returns

Awesome thanks for the info..by this time next week we will see what BF deals will be available..even though I really doubt the ipad pro will be included no harm in looking. Another question that I have is if the ipad is ever defective. Last yr I had an issue when I bought the ipad pro from target..after about 2 weeks it just stopped working, brought it to apple and they said they could replace it with a "Recertified one" so I said no and returned it to target..the apple store told me that if had purchased the ipad pro from apple directly I would have been given a new one is that true?

You should be given a replacement which is either refurbished, or new, if You get a refurbished replacement it will basically be new as it would have a new shell and display

So basically it does NOT matter where the ipad pro is purchased, from apple, etc..you still get the same refurb, new, recertified, etc..buying directly from apple doesn't give me any additional advantage?

I recieved a refurb replacement once which was scuffed, however I believe this was a one off

Yeah, it’s annoying they will give you a refurbished one, but sometimes they do give new ones

Why would Apple want to cannibalize sales of the newest model by selling the older model with 95% of the functionality at a lower price? That’s a dumb way to do business.

Just seen the price of the HDMI adapter for the new Pros - something I always pick up. I wouldn't mind if I had the option of a 3rd party alternative which Apple doesn't allow! All this after the official Lightning HDMI adapter crippled video out to a compressed signal instead of the original digital signal.

USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - £75.00

Well... Apple has just released their new iPad Pro and I’m speechless, if you were going to use this iPad as a computer you would need to get the bigger size, the keyboard case and the Apple Pencil, all of this would cost £1,287, yet I can go buy the new MacBook Air for £1,199 and that has a bigger display, a physical keyboard, Touch ID, 2 USB C ports compared to 1 and 128gb compared to the base model iPad Pro 12.9” at 64gb. This is absolutely outrageous Apple are charging more money for their iPads than for their laptops, I can’t tell you how angry I am, I feel like Apple are trying to rob me, they should of at least included the Appl pencil and or the keyboard case in the box, this makes me feel sick.

Just don't buy it simple... I don't know why people are still whinging about apple products. Look at the iPhone 8 to iPhone X. 1079 vs 1579AUD for base models. Still a lot of people flocked to the premium device because it's the new thing... same thing can be said here.

then apple hit the iPhone x with another 50AUD on top for the new XS in Australia so... blame the consumer, not the company.

The company set whatever price it wants, the consumer has the power to deny the company that cash flow if they wanted to... but i guess not, people's income has drastically increased over the years i guess.
