Just don't buy it simple... Complaining about it won't help, they'll just keep increasing the prices if demand seems to be there. Blame the consumer not the company.
Sometimes it’s cathartic to just vent to likeminded people. It’s like...one of the steps towards acceptance.

-aahhh it’s so expensive!
-it’s expensive but I want it
-ahhh fine I’ll buy it

The previous iPad Pro 10.5” is still available for $649.
Last years technology for full price. Awesome

It's not really the price increase of the iPad alone that makes me squeamish, but the price increases of the keyboard attachment and pencil to boot. This is firmly inside the territory of "why not just buy a laptop?"

They are giving MacBook Air buyers 128gb base model why not with an iPad they claim to be a computer replacement?
This kind of argument is not helpful IMO. Apple's marketing hyperbole is just that... hyperbole. Trying to hold Apple accountable to their hype is fruitless. This is the same kind of distraction as those demanding Apple to add more "Pro" features to their "Pro" devices, or that the Macbook "Air" is not "Air"y enough.

I guess that’s why we’re often called Apple fanboys (and girls). They charge whatever they want and we buy whatever they charge.
Yes you do. :p

If Apple keeps increasing their prices for their products the same way they are right now, how much will we be paying for their products in 5 years from now?!
Nothing because we won’t be buying them. The price of the pro iPads already passed the limit at which I would have bought one.

The Pro iPads are niche products for graphic and other professionals. It makes sense if you make money with it. However, It’s not your regular media consumption device. For the rest of us there is the iPad 6 which represents an excellent value.

I recieved a refurb replacement once which was scuffed, however I believe this was a one off
[doublepost=1540918887][/doublepost]

Yeah, it’s annoying they will give you a refurbished one, but sometimes they do give new ones

Not sure what to do..I mean I think what happened last year at Target was a fluke but still..Im not spending 1000+ dollars to end up with a refurb after a few months ya know..Ive honestly never had an issue with an ipad before, I think with target, they just had some bad batches otherwise it would have been fine..but I don't want to be stuck with a refurb..so far not seeing this ipad posted on bestbuy.com not sure how long that takes to appear

Exactly right. The blame is being misplaced. The OP should be ranting against those of us who are willing to pay the premium that Apple uses as justification to keep prices high.

Yes I agree ALL of Apple products are expensive BUT at the end of the day, this iPad Pro really is something great. As long as Apple continue to fit top quality components and give it an amazing operating system which is a great user experience, then I guess, all of this doesn't come cheap.

It's easy to get complacent with Apple and take their user experience for granted. I was reminded this the other week when a friend gave me his new Leveno tablet to play with and my Gosh, it was the most horrible thing that i've ever seen - horrible screen, nasty OS, horrible design. I very quickly realised that nothing comes to the Apple mark and remember, these iPad Pro's are designed for the professional sector. I see film makers using them with their £50K to £100K RED / Phantom cameras - at £1000 it's kind of cheap in comparison :)

Another thing, I'm typing this on my 'standby' MacBook - it's 9 years old next March and has been used for 8 hours a day+ 7 days a week for those 9 years and... with High Sierra, it's still performing well :) And cheaper HP, Samsung, SONY laptop would have died many years earlier!

I know that. And it’s got a smaller screen than the units it’s being replaced with along with fewer features and less functionality. Also keep in mind that it doesn’t make sense from an economic or production standpoint to have a lower priced 12.9” unit in the supply chain when the 12.9” model is their top of the line.

Because this isn't a laptop..lol Didn't we just go through how the iphone XR is for most people drama? This ipad pro isn't for most people. It's for the die hard apple fans or pros. This core group pays the apple tax.

Much of the experience will be the same. Apple didn't exactly release any flashy apps of its own or do much to show off any real new functionality especially the usb c. No plugging into a mac as wacom. Apple did create this desire for more storage by offering higher versions but you have to ignore that stuff.

If we are speaking in absolutes, then yes, it's not a laptop. Most glancing consumers in fact are looking at the iPad Pro as a replacement for their computer. For what most consumers are doing with their devices nowadays, this could absolutely serve as a full replacement, but based on pricing, it makes no sense when a more slightly more capable (and near-equally as portable) laptop is sitting right there at at a near-equal price point.

same using iPad mini 2 (bought late 2013), almost 5 years old still going well [maybe not as sexy as before but ehh... considering it still works well after 5 years i'm impressed.]

i'm thinking of getting the 11inch iPad pro wifi+cellular in 256GB config which is a perfect balance, heck even my iPhone XS Max i can't hit 256GB without trying too hard (the only way i can think of is putting all 4K Video footage in the TV app for 20 hrs+ which by then i'll just delete after finish watching and input new vids so yea)... 512/1TB is way too extreme personally as i don't use it as an all-in-one hub. my PC does that for me :) 8TB hard drive storage (2x 4TB WD hdd) + 2TB worth of NVMe SSDs. <= total cost. 300$ for hard drives, 1200$ for NVMe ssds... for my pc.

[that being said my eyes jumped when i saw 512GB to 1TB for an iPad Pro upgrade here costs 600aud...] hahaha hence my pc storage hub as above ^_^

Man, it's incredible how we users on here and tech reviewers know what "most people" are looking for (althout they personally won't buy it). I would say "most users" aren't remotely interested in the ipad pro. The entry level ipads and paying 300 at most for one is all "most" will stomach.

I'd be tempted to have the 11" around the house, but I still find it a bit mind boggling that one of the key aspects with the pro, the pencil, isn't included as default.

I mean. In Norway it's around $1057.27 for the base 64gig model, then it's an extra $160 for the pencil. Hefty...

If you like the OS. The thing I dislike the most about my iPad is the OS. Sorry. I use Android, Windows and iOS. They all have weak and strong points and for me there is no winner. For me iOS is nothing unique. It has some good points and some very very annoying aspects. But yeah if you like the iOS experience then Apple products are the way to go.

The comparison is fair if you mention the specs and the price. I find it weird when people compare iPhone with cheap Android phone. That does not make any sense. Same for the Lenovo tablet. Any cheap tablet is a cheap tablet. You can't get the quality you can get from expensive iPad Pro. The question is what do you get as quality between products of the same price.

Say an iPad Pro is 1800 $. What other device I can get at this price? Once I know this I can compare them. For example I wanted a portable device with good stylus. Now I read that Apple pencil in general is more precise than the Microsoft pen. I needed the stylus for writing so I needed precision. I decided that the 2018 iPad could give me what I need and I bought it. If it was about ipad Pro against Asus 2 in 1 laptop that has the pencil support too, I would have chosen the Asus 2 in 1 because I like Windows more, it could be used as an actual laptop and the price is the same.

It's always about this. Everyone of us decided whether something is worth or not for a price.

Couldn’t agree with this more, the iPad can never replace a computer

you don’t buy the iPad Pro to replace a computer. Computers don’t work with the Apple Pencil which is the best stylus ever invented. If you don’t do art, buy a computer instead

There are certainly use cases where the iPad can replace a laptop computer. In my case, I manage a team of people who work for me. I don't do art, but rather handle a lot of email, scheduling, and review/annotate documents that other people prepare for me (using the pencil). I got rid of my 11 inch MacBook Air and used the iPad instead for these tasks. It's been great.
