Apple Silicon MacBook Air/Pro Mac mini Order Status Thread

Interesting to see all of these orders coming directly out of China. Mine shipped over the weekend, so here's my updated timeline:

2020-12-11 :: Placed order for base MBA (8/256), Space Gray.
Delivery window stated as being between 2020-12-29 to 2021-01-06.
2021-01-01 :: Card charged, and order went from “Processing” to “Preparing to Ship" overnight.
2021-01-03 :: In the early morning, the order changed to "Shipped".
2021-01-03 :: In the early afternoon, the box was picked up by FedEx from Lebanon, Tennessee near Nashville and made it to Memphis by 11pm.
2021-01-04 :: Box is still in Memphis, scheduled delivery for tomorrow, 1/5 by 8pm.

Started to get excited about shipping (ordered MBP 16GB/1TB on 12/15) as others having ordered in that timeframe were getting credit cards charged etc. Went into my credit card account and saw a bunch of pending charges rejected for invalid date. Made the mistake of ordering with ApplePay on 12/15. Card associated expired on 12/25. There is no way to update a card in ApplePay per support documentation. You have to delete and add, but then you get a different device id associated with card. Texted Apple (don't try to call them...hold times forever). Agent told me might be quickest to cancel/reorder....hello, won't get it until way into February. Asked if I could just switch to card associated with my AppleID. No, only alternative is to wait until I get an email to update card. That's great, but I can't update existing card that is associated with unique device id. Rep is escalating to Payment group. Posting here yes to whine, but more so to let people know they should check their card's expiration date before ordering via ApplePay. Happy New Year.

OK, actually went back to support on the phone and asked to change my payment method. Guy said everything looks good, no need, just wait for shipment. Today I got the "action required" email from Apple that my card was refused...duh. Called support again and changed my payment method to another card. Was told that machine should now ship. Like to get frustrated with Apple, but it's really my fault. Hopefully back on track.

SG 8/8/16/512 MBA delivered this morning. Just over 3 weeks from order date to delivery. Not bad but was getting pretty itchy near the end of the wait.

First impressions: The thing is ridiculously fast. Barely warmed up at all while it was downloading/installing apps while browsing the web and doing some light gaming (WoW). And the colour. Oh man, it is just so much more sleek looking than the silver, IMO.

Something odd that I noticed on the MacBook Pro 16/1 models. Sometimes I go in on the MBP 8/256 page and sometimes on the 8/512 page. Then I click on 16/1. Sometimes there's inventory on one but not the other and sometimes the other way around. Maybe a bug on their pages but good to check both if you want one of these models.

Mine had a delivery date on 20th Jan but now that it has left China, UPS is saying that it will be delivered on Thursday ... 2 weeks early!

January 14. Now on Apple it says Jan 11, but UPS told me to expect it tomorrow.

Ordered base MacBook Air December 18th in UK. Estimated delivery January 18th. Still processing, no card charge, no shipping yet.

Lots of other people seem to be getting orders shipping earlier than a month. My card still hasn't been charged. Is the UK just slower right now?

I imagine that there are a lot of factors:

- Customs
- Shipping capacity
- Configurations

I was able to order and get a system in about six hours. You can get some standard configurations in some places in the US the same day if you hit it just right. BTO systems are quoted out the second week in February for me; so five weeks. I suppose that you could add time if there is any kind of delay due to customs, or even weather.

Ups says it’s arriving the 8th, Apple says the 22nd and neither has changed. Which one knows something the other doesn’t lol

UPS. They are horrible about updating their tracking info to supplier sites. In Nov I had 3 iPhone 12 Pro Maxes sitting outside all day because UPS delivered and T Mobile said they were still in transit scheduled to be delivered a week later.

Thank God I ended up wandering outside and was like "I wonder what this is..."

Just arrived and finished setting up! In total, 25 days from order to delivery. My first new computer since the 2010 MacBook Pro that I got when I went off to college.

After getting its Export Scan on Monday, my MBA is now delayed again.

I can see two possibilities:
1. has arrived at the destination hub and is waiting for its Import customs clearance
2. Although cleared for Export, it is still sitting on the ground in Shanghai waiting for a delayed flight

My Macbook Air was set for delivery 6th Jan and I was really excited, but confused by tracking updates about the Macbook Air, seems like someone is playing Ping Pong with the China facility. The Apple order status page still says delivery on 6th January, but now UPS has changed it to 11th Jan after no updates since 3th Jan. First world problem I know, but still annoying when one is really looking forward to enjoy the M1 air since 14th Dec. and had reserved the day to have it delivered...

Looks like our orders are in the same shipment from Shanghai.
