M1 MacBook Air 8C/16GB/512GB

I ordered on 4th of January through an Apple Premium Reseller in Germany due to having a higher student discount (12,9%) compared to the discount offered through the Austrian education store (6%).

I thought that I would have to wait longer than the timeframe shown on the Apple website at the time of order (3-4 weeks for my config) as Apple seems to prioritize their own orders sometimes. But I am pleasantly surprised that I just got an email from DHL Germany informing me about the shipping of the order. Since I use a shipment forwarding company for the shipping to Austria I probably will get it until next Wednesday. :)

Interesting.
Exact same spec as me and same order date :) Mine ordered from Apple.
Mine originally showed 3 - 10 Feb which quickly changed to "arrives 10th Feb", which almost immediately changed to "3 to 4 weeks". It's still showing the same and still processing.
So you've done better than I have :)

My MBP 16/1TB is now in Memphis. Not sure why delivery date is Tuesday. Hope it will change to Friday or at least Monday.

when you add it to the deliveries app it says delivered by the date given so it could come early but don't put your hopes on it

SG MBP 16/1 ordered 12/15 original ETA 1/14 - 21. Upon shipment revised to Monday. Now has no ETA and is in limbo. Seen this before coming out of China to US, but with Fed Ex.

Ordered MBA 8/8/16/512 on 12/21. Shipped out today with ETA 1/22 which is the exact ETA Apple originally gave me.

17.12.2020 - ordered a MBA 8/8/512 in silver
06.01.2021 - card charged and status changed to "preparing to ship"
08.01.2021 - shipped
09.01.2021 - information given to DHL in Eindhoven
13.01.2021 - arrived in Eindhoven
13.01.2021 - shipped from Amsterdam to Leipzig
14.01.2021 - delivered in Berlin, Germany

P.S. the original time frame for delivery by Apple was set between 18th and 25th of January 2021 so it came 4 days early.

So frustrating. MBP sits at Fedex facility in San Diego where I live but won't be delivered until Tuesday because of Monday being a holiday. It was faster from China to San Diego than from San Diego to my doorsteps. ?‍♀️

Finally saved up enough from my computer tech job to order me an M1 MacBook Air! I selected one in silver finish, getting the 8-core graphics version with 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM; it should arrive at my address in four weeks (since it's a configure-to-order model.) I decided to opt for the M1 MacBook Air because I also have to save up enough to get a "new" car (at least a few years old), and because I have heard great things about the M1 Macs, especially since the M1 MacBook Air's performance is very close to the MacBook Pro, compared to their Intel predecessors, along with the idea of Apple eventually dropping Intel support while others (like software vendors) increase their ARM Mac support over time.
Now comes the grueling wait...

Same machine and spec as mine.
Congratulations! I hope it comes sooner and you like it :)

So much fun to watch the shipping updates out of China. One day it's in transit to Japan and the next it's in transit to Alaska with no mention of Japan. Expecting it to sit there in customs when it reaches Alaska and then suddenly pop up somewhere else in the US. You never know what's up until it's out for delivery. Lucky I'm not going anywhere.

Ordered on 12/12/20: M1 Mac mini, 16GB, 2TB.
Ships: 6 weeks, Delivers: Feb 3 by Express Delivery.
My Mac mini actually was delivered to my house on 01/12/21!
I am extremely impressed by it, seems pretty solid, came with Big Sur 11.1 already installed.

Had a couple of hick ups.
1.) SoftRAID 6 beta won’t mount RAID 0 or 5 volumes on OWC 8-bay Thunderbolt 3 enclosure.
2.) Had one kernel panic when trying to boot with above RAID attached.
I solved the problem with using RAID 0 volumes created by Disk Utility.
Of course I use multiple backups! :)

Successfully I can use boot volume on external OWC Envoy Pro EX SSD.
3.) Preferences/Startup Disk setting can select external boot drive, but fails to boot from it.
Solution is to continue holding down ON/OFF switch when booting up, then selecting external boot drive.
M1 Mac mini boots up then just fine from external Envoy Pro EX SSD.

My keyboard and mouse are attached to the 2 available M1 USB-A ports.
M1 also boots up and works fine when 38” LG 38WN95C-W monitor and external SSDs are attached via new OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock with 4 TB3 and 3 USB-A ports. So in principle one should be able to attach 6 TB3 and 6 USB-A devices via 2 OWC Docks from the 2 M1 Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports. I have to try that next.

SG MBP 16/1 ordered 12/15 - original ETA 1/14 - 21 to Philadelphia, PA area.

+ 12/13 Shipped - ETA revised to 12/18.
+ 12/14 In transit > Osaka, Japan - ETA revised "check back tomorrow for updated delivery date"
+ 12/15 In transit > Anchorage, AK - ETA still "check back tomorrow for updated delivery date"
+ 12/16 In transit > Narita, Japan - ETA still "check back tomorrow for updated delivery date"

If this was the first time something weird happened with an Apple shipment out of China I would be surprised. Lucky, I got "express delivery" at no additional cost. LOL

OK, as expected, all the Japan references disappeared and my machine cleared customs. ETA is now again Monday and since it's in the states, ETA is probably good. Can't wait to take the little beast for a ride!
