I use the mobile application for all my ordering. It's just quicker and more streamlined over the desktop site for major preorders like the iPhone or Apple Watch when it launched.

Another vote for this. I usually have my iPad, work laptop, and iPhone all up and running for the 3am preorder. Even utilizing multiple types of browsers on each device, the Apple Store app is always quicker to go “live” and place the order.

When there's a keynote or preorder the main store website goes down a couple of hours before at which point new items get added.

During this period you are greated with a we'll be back soon error.

It's based on the providers DNS cache I've been told

I'm in Australia and I was loading the website over and over again from 4.55pm to 5.05 (12am PT) at which point it finally loaded. However it was too late for the jet black and my order for the Matt just barely made it in the first delivery batch.

My email showed 5.07pm but others had emails that were showing as early as 5.02pm

So the preorders obviously went live at 5pm

Yeah, my email showed 3:08am. I remember finally getting into the app a few minutes after 3am. I tried for the Jet Black but it was already shipping 1-2 weeks so I did in store pickup for the Matte Black and got it on launch day.

Can anyone give me some purchasing tips? I haven't bought an iPhone at launch since the 4s.

I'm coming from Android and Project Fi, and will likely move to a shared AT&T plan with my fiancee. Can I just choose AT&T or unlocked on launch day and worry about adding it to a plan with her later? Do I need to go through AT&T instead? With likely minimal supply, I just want to maximize my chance of getting in early. Thanks.

Basically same question as this. Any advantage to ordering from Apple vs. At&T if already an existing customer?

For every year a new iPhone has been released, I have purchased one, I fully intend to do the same this year. I will order the rumored OLED model. Who else will preorder the OLED and why?

That blush gold is quite nice. Might go for that this time around. Getting bored of silver now as I've had that on my 6S and 5. Black colour looks good but it's a bit dull as a colour. One thing I'm not liking is those white bezels on the silver and blush gold iPhone 8. It's looks alright on the 7S and 7S Plus due to the larger bezel area.

Hopefully these dummy models aren't 100% accurate and the bezels are really black on all the 8 models.

True that front white bezel looks weird, but let's be honest, you put that phone on the table and everyone who walks around will know it's the iPhone 8.

The black model? A bit too subtle.

So, mission accomplished..

I’m still not 100% I like the idea of it as it’s the new colour etc but actually quite like the silver as I used to have the all white 4S in the past :)

Back of the silver one looks also great, now it's made of glass. I will go for the black one as usual

I strongly believe the blush color will be VERY popular for the asian market.

True, but do not underestimate the American/European market in case of this color

Am taking a break from black; silver or blush for me but I find 7s+ more appealing than 8;). The size and the whole design is not just cutting it!!

Can't wait for the 8. I only wonder would it feel like a downgrade coming from the 7 plus, i mean the effective screen..

To me its going to be perfect, I have been wanting an inbetween size for soooo long so i'm mega excited, I've had the plus in a total about 5 times and returned it every single time for the standard 7 because it was just too much of a handful for me
