Well, it could show the leagues and teams to allow you to pick your favorites. For a little while, I came to the same conclusion you did. But there are sports - such as tennis - whose seasons are underway. And they are not included.

For tennis, yes it should be there.

But for the NFL, there is literally 0 point to having it let you select teams even. And then what, you look at an empty page?

At least you can download the iPhone version from the App Store on the iPad, unlike the journal app. But still.

Apple has used it in 3 apps, Health, Journal, and now Apple Sports, and they are experimenting with it before bringing it to every other app.

Yes, because there's nothing to display. The app only shows scores, there's no scores or even schedule for the teams yet so it'd show nothing.

The user avatar on top right, all ui in cards, gradient backgrounds, icons in circle containers. These are all VERY Android. Apple’s design, although subtle, are different

I didn't have to go anywhere, since I already picked them before the app existed. I'm just mocking the idea that a lack of NFL scoring in the off season means that the app is a failure.

Agreed. Hope you can turn that off. That's of no interest to me and should not be prominently listed above the actual sports statistics for a given game.

This thing really is barebones, but it's still a nice clean interface that gives me all of my team's scheduled games for the day upon opening it. I'll happily use this over ESPN or any other ad-filled junky app.

I love this, really takes me back. My first mobile web device (kind of) was my old Motorola StarTAC which had a super rudimentary web browser on it -- maybe 20 characters wide by about 5 lines high. I actually bought a CD off Amazon that way, just for the novelty.

Another thing we won’t see here in the Netherlands, like Apple News, Apple Fitness, precipitation warnings etc. If the main language in your country is not English, Apple simply deems you a lesser person.
