So if they don't add every sport known to man regardless of popularity right at the get-go it's "unfinished & never should be released as-is"?
Read my post again. If they don’t include all of the major sports, it shouldn’t see the light of day.

This app displays scores, and standings. That's it.

The NFL currently does not have games going or even a 2024 schedule for upcoming games.

What exactly would it currently show?
Well, it could show the leagues and teams to allow you to pick your favorites. For a little while, I came to the same conclusion you did. But there are sports - such as tennis - whose seasons are underway. And they are not included.

For tennis, yes it should be there.

But for the NFL, there is literally 0 point to having it let you select teams even. And then what, you look at an empty page?

Then that makes this new app a failure. You have to go somewhere else to get what you want.
I didn't have to go anywhere, since I already picked them before the app existed. I'm just mocking the idea that a lack of NFL scoring in the off season means that the app is a failure. :)

This thing really is barebones, but it's still a nice clean interface that gives me all of my team's scheduled games for the day upon opening it. I'll happily use this over ESPN or any other ad-filled junky app.

I do like following NHL that all the current games show on one page - easy to follow. Now if they can just get live activity

Holy crap... first 10 - 15 comments I read are people complaining/bitching about it. I know, I know... I'm complaining about people complaining and apologize for that.

FYI, for those wanting barebones scores with no ads. Visit plaintextsports.com and setup a weblink as a shortcut on your device.
I love this, really takes me back. My first mobile web device (kind of) was my old Motorola StarTAC which had a super rudimentary web browser on it -- maybe 20 characters wide by about 5 lines high. I actually bought a CD off Amazon that way, just for the novelty.

Anyway, found a pretty cool directory of text-only sites: https://greycoder.com/a-list-of-text-only-new-sites/

Another thing we won’t see here in the Netherlands, like Apple News, Apple Fitness, precipitation warnings etc. If the main language in your country is not English, Apple simply deems you a lesser person.

Dude they are Californians, we are all lesser people to them.
