If you don't trust Apple with your card info, buy a prepaid card and sign up for Express Checkout. This will make your checkout far quicker, and lessen the chance of getting the machine being taken from right under your nose. I always use prepaid cards for any online purchases.
That's a good tip, hopefully Wild Bill will take note, as well.

Of course if we miss the 2.6s we'll be stuck with $700+ prepaid cards, that's a lot of iTunes.

I think he means prepaid credit card so if you end up not using it on a Mini, you can still use it on other purchases, not just iTunes.

I guess, never used a prepaid card. Amex usually does the trick

I gave up. Bought the 2.3 i7 from Best Buy with a price match down to $699.

I would have waited but I had $300 in gift cards to best buy so it was worth it for me.

I have a 2014 dual core i7 (256GB SSD, 16GB RAM) at work so I'll be able to compare the two (once i install 16GB of RAM and an SSD).

Was going through this thread and then took a look again at best buy, if someone is looking for a 2012 i5 and has a movers coupon you can get one for the same price as a refurbished on from apple. If you have a local best buy that has one.

This wont help those looking for a mac mini i7, but it worked out for a mac mini for my parents. Saved me from constantly checking the apple store for refurbished ones.

How does one go about finding out if there are any Mac Minis available for purchase in Apple's refurbished online store? Does one have to spend all day clicking the refresh button?

I ordered a 2012 refurb 2.3 i7 with 256G ssd ($759) last week. I am pleasantly surprised that I actually got a 2.6G i7. I'm very happy with it after putting 16G RAM and a 256G samsung ssd on the 2nd bay.

I think you mean 2.3 i7, but they shipped 2.6 i7, right? Because this happened to me as well. I planned to install 16G ram, but when I used it with the original 4G ram and 256 G SSD, I found it is already very fast, and I may keep use 4G for now and upgrade it if necessary in the future.

Am I the only one who notices that Apple isn't mentioning a discount on the mini like it does on the other refurbs?

Think Apple knows that the old mini is their highest demand item.

See picture.

Quickly, get them while they last!

:mad::mad::mad:

Was sleeping when the alert came in. I wonder if Apple is catching on to the fact that the refurb store gets cleaned out of minis in record time. In other words, they really screwed the pooch on the 2014 mini.

You think Apple really cares......

I bought an extra 2.3 Mini the last time the referbs were offered and when I popped the bottom it looked like it had been in a coal mine for the past century.
Tried to boot it up and it started to load and froze.

Sent it back. I think they are just pushing them out the door anymore.

Sounds better than the last refurb computer I got from them. Mine looked like the whole machine including the keyboard and mouse had been dragged on the pavement for about 10 miles behind a truck.

It also had numerous defects. Apple agreed that it would replace the logic board. But said all the dents and chunks missing were cosmetic and not covered by warranty.

How much are they selling them for?
Last time I saw the sever 2012 i7 at $849 I believe.
I am curious about the 2012 i7 base model that supposedly would be $589.

It seems Apple is inflating the refurb prices as well. No surprise there.

Refurb.me sent me a text around 12 am PST and you would've been able to order a 2012 i7 2.3 quad for $579, a 2.6 for $679, and a 2.3 + 256gb ssd for $740 or so. You have to strike while the iron is hot.

Hey Bill, I checked a little too early at 11:30pm, and apparently they had a 2.6 at Midnight on Saturday! I was up till 2, but I figured the Refurb Gremlins had packed it in for the weekend, guess I have to assume they're 24/7 guys.

Oh, well, the quest continues.

The refurb guys are probably following this thread and laughing at us. The night shift probably waits until we go to bed then uploads the 2012 Minis to the web store in the middle of the night!

Nice. These are good prices.
Thanks for the update

My screenshot a couple posts back shows the server version from last night.

They'll start playing with you all soon. They know they can price them crazy and have them fly out the door.

Weird, the last 2012 i7 2.6 I got from Apple looked and even smelled new. It's like they just took it out of the original packaging and threw it in the refurb cardboard box.

I think Apple has a dry sense of humor. The timing certainly doesn't look coincidental to me.

By the way, I wonder if folks are buying multiple refrubs, and if so why. Family members, later resale, backups, keep as classic model? Otherwise time and tech progress will eventually minimize their value.
