Apple Store has just announced the Back-to-School offer for University Students and their parents, plus Faculty and Staff of all grade levels. Starting today through September 15th, eligible University members can get a FREE iPod touch or iPod nano with purchase of select new Mac models. Unfortunately, this offer is available only at the Apple Store for Education.

doesn't refurbished mean that its been used before? I want a bran NEW one ... But thanks anyways. I'm wondering if there's a code so I can get money off a new one.

Apple restores refurbs to new condition (as in, you can't tell the diff between refurb and new). They come with the same warranty as new and include all of the extras (again, just like new). There are a lot of members here who would agree that it's apple's best-kept secret.

If you are looking for savings on a new one, Amazon frequently has rebates (that only show up on the page for individual products and not the search page). Authorized resellers (MacMall, MacConnection, etc, etc) often package other software with their Apples (as a free-after-rebate) to beat apple's own new price. If you simply must buy directly from Apple, stop by their clearance page.

Save $200 by buying a refurb. And don't be nervous about it - Apple does the very best job I've ever seen on refurbs:

1. You get the same one-year warranty as new
2. It performs and looks like new
3. The computer carries the same eligibility for Apple Care as new
4. The computer has undergone two sets of rigorous quality control testing
5. It comes in new packaging and includes all manuals and accessories - nothing is missing
6. You get a savings several times that of any coupon or promo code!

are any of the deals available with refurbished macs? like the college deal with the free ipod touch or the printer deal?

The college deal only applies to the purchase of NEW macs.
The printer deal IS eligible (but be sure to verify this on apple's website as details do change).
