Here's two quick tips which makes my experience even better:

- Go to Accessibility > Display

1. Menu bar size large: will slightly increase the height of the menu bar, which looks even better to me
2. Display contrast: move from normal to just a tiny bit toward the right, to taste until the grey becomes black > looks amazing, no more grey-looking black bar and all - "looks like an OLED without being an OLED" 😁 you just saved 4'000 bucks thank me later

I also use a full black desktop wallpaper empty with no icons on it, since I love black and clean so much. Looks sublime!

Two small changes that dramatically improve the ASD experience wow. Surprised Apple doesn't communicate on this.
Thank you. Those settings really helped!

I am using my work MBP M1 connected the ASD. Should I have the ASD display as the main display? Thanks!

I just received my replacement Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable from Apple Support (right) - why does the replacement cable physically look different than the original included cable with the ASD (left)?

The plug size looks more like the old Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB‑C) Cable which afaik is not available in black/braided.
I might be wrong, but if it is a new revision of the Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable, it might be sth for the MacRumors news.

This is interesting. I wonder if they modified the design? Or maybe it's just for some reason the Studio Display comes with a unique cable and they just sent you the one from the Apple Store... Mine looks like the left for what it's worth.

Seems like it’s the iPad and not the ASD since my Mac with the same processor works fine. Hope an update comes soon.
0 issues with anything else connected directly to the iPad.

Also, ASD is wayyyy more stable on his iPad than the LG Ultrafine 5K I had previously. Also, the LG 4K had no issues whatsoever.

Be warned, ASDs resemble LG Ultrafine 5K’s in that they don’t play nice with the M1 IPad Air.

Not to be one of those guys, but my 12.9” M1 iPad Pro works perfectly fine with my ASD. I’ve got none of the issues you have. The ASD is a bit dimmer in brightness than I’d prefer when auto-brightness is turned on (perhaps the auto-brightness is configured differently on iPadOS), but adjusting the ASD’s brightness in the iPad’s system settings works fine). Otherwise, the USB keyboard and mouse connected through the ASD work as expected. I do use an Apple TB4 cable between the iPad and display. And I have Allow Display Mode Changes turned off in the Studio Display options of the iPad’s Display & Brightness system settings (frame rate changes, etc; states there could be periods of black or flickering when frame rates change).

I’m wondering if some of the issues you’re seeing is related to Stage Manager and not the external display itself.

You are one of those guys that don’t read throughly before posting. I have an Air, you have a Pro, Air has a USB-C port, Pro has TB.
My apologies then. I saw M1 and assumed Pro.
That said, the Apple TB4 cable is USB-C certified; worth potentially trying it. Can always return it if it doesn’t help.

Anyone using the Apple Studio Display with the LG Ultrafine 5K. I am considering this but if the displays look different from each other I will just get another LG for a dual set-up.

I've got the Studio Display (VESA, Glossy) at home and a 27" 5K LG UltraFine at my work office so they're not side by side but I do notice that the LG Ultrafine has slightly cooler colors and it's mostly noticeable with the white. It's also slightly more saturated with the colors as well. A forum member mentioned above about the Studio Display looking orange although it's definitely not drastic (at least not for mine).

Does the UltraFine have True Tone?

I recently purchased two Studio Displays and one of the displays came with the size of plug on the left and one came with the size on the right. Assuming they're slowly updating the size of the plug.

Yeah that's interesting, thank you. I prefer the bigger plug size, easier to grab.

I think it’s very warm coloured tbh and don’t think how to turn it down other than brightness.

Has anyone thought about if/when to clean the dust that gets caked onto the fans of the ASD?

I doubt it will become an issue, it’s not like the ASD requires peak cooling performance. So even if it looses a bit of cooling over the years it will be fine.
