Ok thanks !!No. Essentially it starts there and goes up another 10.5 cm.

My brightness buttons work intermittently, sometimes changing my studio display brightness but also sometimes changing my iMac display brightness instead. The sound buttons work correctly every time. Hopefully this gets fixed in a future firmware update. Are the brightness keys on a macbook pro supposed to adjust the studio display brightness? Id expect so but mine only adjusts my macbook display brightness, not the studio display.
Can anyone confirm? Thanks
Just watched Zollotech's YouTube review on the Studio Display, apparently it supports HDR playback as shown in 8:02. My existing LG Ultrafine 5K doesn't support it, but does have brighter highlights in HDR videos shot on my iPhone.
Just curious if the Studio Display also supports HDR on Netflix.
I've been trying to get it to work with windows, even with thunderbolt I can't control brightness on a 12th Gen Intel (no dgpu) waiting to try a variety of recomended cables. On a USB c surface go I can only get 4k 60hz but the mic camera and speakers work.Has anyone tried SD in windows environment with non-thunderbolt connections such as belkin charge and sync cable? I'm considering to get studio displays for both mac & windows workstations.
Ahh nice, so it somehow supports HDR. Now i'm tempted to cop the VESA version....in shadow of the tomb rider the HDR option is selectable and seems to work (with my old Dell the option could not be selected)
Not that it matters much but it should be noted it doesn't support hdr in windows, even though, with its brightness I feel like it totally could..Ahh nice, so it somehow supports HDR. Now i'm tempted to cop the VESA version....
Hear, hearI switched from a LG 27" 4k to the ASD. The text is so much crisper, just like on the MacBook Pro 14! And boy does it get bright
I am however not missing the miniLED/Promotion on the ASD, if it would be the same as on the MacBook Pros. The response times on the Macbook screen is very very slow, so text gets very blurry while scrolling. Almost defeats the purpose of having 120Hz!
MiniLED is great for HDR content, but since I am a developer I do not have much use for it. So why pay for a feature I don't need.
Overall I am very happy with this display, so much that I don't want to use my 27" LG as a second monitor. Thinking about getting a second ASD.![]()
I got the Display purely for text sharpness. I have an LG $600 4k 27 inch monitor and everything looks fine on it but the text wasn't pure sharp when I scaled it on more space. It annoyed me and I had to focus harder to see the small letters, especially on a full full size story beat board where I can see everything at once. If you look at small text and you want it clear, I don't think there is any other option. For everything else, a smaller 4k monitor will be fine.I sold my 5K iMac in 2020. Since then, I've been using my LG 34 inch 5K2K that is basically a 4K resolution. It looks amazing but I do miss the sharpness of the 5K, especially for reading text. Can someone who has both the SD and a 4K monitor confirm there is a substantial difference in resolution/sharpness?
Thank you for this mini review, it was very helpful for me, because I am also scared to order the nano glass. My current Dell is matte, so I am not sure if I will like glossy.I bought the nanotexture studio display.

I thought a lot before making my choice, because I know I'm going to experience some loss of quality in contrast and definition: in my workstation I have a window exactly behind my back:

and two sources of artificial light (one above and one on the left side).
The display surprised me positively: I don't have a standard next to it to compare it but it shows very, very well: no patina or "dark" effect, nice crisp text, zero reflections. I paid 250 euro more for this configuration and it seems reasonable to me.
The unboxing was quite satisfactory: the monitor is protected by two layers, a classic one, like in the Imacs, an additional one, glued to the edges.
There is the "special" cleaning cloth specific for this glass.

The brightness is excellent.
As for the color rendering ... finally the true tone! I consider Apple products excellent in terms of calibration and, for this reason, I have always tried to get the same calibration on the external monitors as my iphone 12 pro max ... without ever succeeding.
The studio display is finally identical (and remember that the phone is an OLED).
Camera: not as bad as I read, not amazing but usable. It's comfortable.
CRAZY audio, the best part of this monitor: you have to hear it live to realize it.
Ultimately I am satisfied with the purchase and I am satisfied with the performance of the nanotextures (I was very scared about that!)

This is one of the major issues that most reviews don't bother to mention. I stare at text most of the day, and these retina displays have much sharper text than any other option. Reading reviews it seems most people use devices to play games or watch videos and they base their opinions on that stuff. I cant even tell the difference between promotion and the 5k. Same with the backlight. All looks similar to my new MBP. I look at text in dark mode and white background so fuzzy letters strain my eyes and I have 20/20 lasik vision. all these reviews about the webcam or speakers dont interest me. I thought the point of a big screen was to see more documents all at once instead of jumping desktops. This is one of the major issues that most reviews don't bother to mention. Can't wait to see the photo!Nano-texture is incredible. I got one as well. When I have a very sunny day I will post a photo showing the difference. I have 7 big windows behind my display.
Not sure if it's different when you're using a Studio Display with an iMac, but with two Studio Displays the monitor you last clicked within is what gets controlled by the brightness keys on the keyboard. Maybe that explains why it seems to randomly change between your two screens? My brightness buttons work intermittently, sometimes changing my studio display brightness but also sometimes changing my iMac display brightness instead. The sound buttons work correctly every time. Hopefully this gets fixed in a future firmware update.
the difference is obvious. I don't have an ASD standard to compare with mine, but I saw a standard one in the shop and it was terribly reflective (even at maximum brightness I could see my face in a certain way reflected). On the other hand, the saturation seems lower to me but I think the chromatic fidelity is more important than the quantity of color. The text seems very sharp to me but my previous monitor had 180 PPI while this 220, or so, so it's an upgrade.![]()

I wish the nano texture didn't soften the image though. It's so much clearer on a glossy display.the difference is obvious. Second monitor for me, love the way that stand holds your MBP, where is it from?
Do you have a comparison photos? I am very interested to see. In my country there is no Apple store and I can't see a live display. I am very very interested to see a side by side comparison.I wish the nano texture didn't soften the image though. It's so much clearer on a glossy display.
RE: Has anyone purchased the VESA mount option?
Im curious about the Portrait/Landscape orientation. I checked out the SD at the store (to get a feel for the standard or matte finish) and noticed there's no option in System Preferences to "rotate display 90º". How will the VESA mount displays be able to rotate the orientation without a preference setting?
Does the chip inside the display 'sense' the flip like on an iPad? ...If so, would that also work if you purchased the standard option mount? (I'd be curious to hear if those with the standard monitor rotated their display it would rotate LOL)
