I'm thinking the update can happen anytime from 12 am tonight California time? Or tomorrow night?
After that I wouldn't plan on the update ever happening. Apple is better off not mentioning any updates unless they can give a specific date for the update to be released?
That's why I am still waiting to buy the Apple Tv. It's too much torture to keep waiting. I rather buy after the fact since it's not life threatening.

Just kick in the front door, punch the security guard in the gut, run around like a fool until you find the IT Department, locate a big giant button on the wall labeled "RELEASE theTV Version 2.0 Update" and click it, then run like hell out of there!
Don't forget to grab some complimentary Airs while you're in there.
I just think its lame apple is making people wait 2 weeks for the update.
The buzz on this product and movie rentals has worn off for most people. I for one am excited....but most people I talk to no longer give a ****
Hey we're all in the same boat. I'm the proud owner of 2 Apple TVs which I've had long before any whispers about an update came about. I want the update just as much as you do.
I think Apple simply hasn't finished it. You saw that it crashed on stage.. they obviously didn't have all the bugs worked out. I'm sure it will come any day now, but they're not making us wait just for the hell of it. It's probably still causing them problems.
i think its done. the pr / marketing dept is still trying to finish a deal to get back with NBC, so they can actually do a big buzz announcement and release the update...

I too bought my appleTV back when it had first come out. Before even the YouTube update. So, I have been waiting for the abilities this update will bring for a very long time. While i was one of the first posters on this thread and I'm still very excited about its imminent release, I guess one or two more days wont kill me. It will give me something to look forward too.

I dont want to troll, but when he said two weeks did you really think he meant exactly 2 weeks from right then? I personally think if this was the case he would have said on Jan. 29th, you can get an update, or apple.com would have given us a date instead of "Coming Soon." While two weeks isn't really ambiguous, I feel it isn't explicit enough to warrant some of the things that are being said.
Don't get me wrong, I am starved to dump Comcast's (IMO, the most evil company on the face of this earth) on demand flat and start renting through the Apple TV, and have been following closely, but missing class or work just to get an update? Add a DVR, maybe , but who really needs to pay to rent something that badly?

Welcome LVDustin!Now... I still haven't got an AppleTV Update.... :-/ I don't even know why I am excited about it, because ITunes Video Rentals are not even here in the UK yet, so the AppleTV Update will probably only be mildly exciting... still... always good with Apple updates

It didn't crash, it just couldn't connect to Flickr. It could have been a lot of things, and he was able to back out of it and get back to the menu.
Apple probably won't release the update without replacing the Macbook Air pic on the main page. They want to sell Apple TVs, after all. This isn't just an iTunes 7.5 to 7.6 software update, it's essentially a whole new device for sale. They've updated hardware/refreshed the main page on a Wednesday before, no?

I think they would rather sell more Macbook Air's than apple tv's, however they could update the main page, i do find highly unlikely they would do that though. I also dont think the update will come out today, i think it will be next Tuesday when the next round of updates are rolled out.
That must have been embarrassing - I can't imagine someone not sweating about their job in the background that day, then.

In my dream lol, i was renting movies, watching movies, renting TV shows, watching TV shows and then my Macbook Air arrived it was the best dream ever
Just my opinion, but I'm going to be hopeful and disagree with you on this one. Apple's website still says, "later this month" in the Hot News section.

Still waiting.... Yesterday when I saw how much this thread grew I thought, "OMGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! It's been updated!!" Then read a few posts and thought, "uhhh..............."
I dont think it crashed because the music was still playing. Even if the Flickr part of ATV was not working I cant see them delaying a product launch over something so trivial. Just omit it from the update and add it later. But then who is to say that they have delayed it. "In two weeks" is a bit ambiguous. He could be including the entire second week i.e. up to Friday so Friday could have been the intended launch date all along.
