I love how wrong all the internet "mock ups" were.
Ehh.. they weren’t that bad. They mostly got the aluminum frame correct, but didn’t make the front bulbous, and made the facial interface fabric way too thin/narrow (I called out the concept renders on that multiple times).
And I wouldn’t be surprised if the back of the head strap is a rather new addition. I could see earlier demonstrations of the product using a simpler design that has the standard rubbery watch band material around the back of the strap.

Ouch. I remember in January 1984 waiting for the Mac to be released at the rumored price point of $999. Boy did it hurt when it came out at $2495.
That would be $7,285 in today's dollars, though technology historically has gotten cheaper over time.

Apples accessibility cred dropped a notch with the need for proprietary prescription lenses instead of supporting glasses.

Windows Hello iris recognition works through glasses and PSVR2 features eye tracking that also works through them.

What's Apple's excuse?

Or wait for a Meta Quest 3
Quest Pro 2 hasn’t been announced yet, which is why I said that. I’d imagine that Gen 2 will be a closer comparison to Apple Vision. But yes, if Quest Pro 2 isn’t announced before Quest 3 is released, I’ll get a Quest 3.

at the end of the day do I really want to strap something to my face on a regular basis? I don't think so.

also have the added issue of wearing glasses so would need prescription lenses. I'm sure that price is reasonapple

Honestly I don’t think Apple expects to sell these to too many consumers in the next few years. They must know, as the rest of do, that that price point is way, way too high. This is an enterprise product for the next five years, at least.

For reference... the Oculus Quest 2 has 2-3 hrs battery life with the internal battery.

The Quest Pro has 1-2hrs of battery life.

We're not sure what the Quest 3 has yet.

Well I'm just glad that some of the rumors were off giving more excitement when the presentation actually comes out.

this could be revolutionary.. but in typical apple fashion, the entry price is out to lunch. even the new machines they introduced.. they are out to lunch. to get a mid ranged useable Mac Pro you are looking at $10,000+tax. that's lunacy. it doesn't even have a Discreet GPU installed. What is wrong with this company. Imagine them trying to sell this back in 1999. They would be bankrupt by the end of the month. Must be nice to be able to leverage popularity for high price tags now. sad company.

You get what you pay for, by the looks for it. Is there really another device in the class that Vision can be compared with?

Also, the folks in the marketing video were clearly of the upper class. Apple knows who their audience is at this point in time, when they can't get the price down.
We dont even know if it's good or not. Too early to say that.

The alternative is a head-mounted battery, which I don't imagine would be comfortable.
I didnt say that. The battery and cable seems only for that device.

Wow! There are a lot of cameras around.

I disagree. Other headsets are designed with glasses in mind. That takes up a lot of space for people who don’t need it. Also, glasses in VR can be very uncomfortable.

I had snap-on lenses for my Quest 2 which worked great until I got Lasik.

I’m not sure how much Apple will charge, but I’m sure there will be third party options at launch which will cost less than $99.

it can even be your own private movie theater inside your tiny NYC apartment, whose rent is past due because you spent the last $3500 on Vision Pro. Truly groundbreaking.
With the 2 hours battery?
Also for that money I could buy a high-end 2023 model OLED TV, a much better choice, and I could watch movies with friends and family not just by myself.

"A pair of custom micro‑OLED displays deliver more pixels than a 4K TV to each eye — for stunning clarity."
However, this also means that you don’t get a higher resolution than a 4K TV stretched out to fill the FOV. The pixel count of 23 million for both eyes combined Apple is citing corresponds to less than 3400x3400 pixels per eye.

Oh man. If this thing could connect to my Mac Pro and allow me to work with After Effects and Cinema 4D would be a ground breaking experience for me and many designers. What a missed opportunity. Hoping this thing lasts up to a version 2.0 and isn't DOA like the Newton.
Based on the video it connects automatically if you just look at the screen....

High-end VR headsets should allow users to stream VR apps from PC to headset, and as of now, we have no idea if Apple will allow that
They won’t get out of their way to enable it, I’m sure.

Clearly, this is not marketed to the average consumer, and I'm not sure it ever will be. It's for early adopters, developers, and extremely wealthy people who need a new toy. it's very cool, but I don't see a real-world case tbh.
