Apple Watch 10 UK Pre-order thread

It’s been a long while since I last preordered via Apple, but it feels great. One question I have is to those who preordered last year via Apple. When did you get your money taken? I hate that they just leave it sat in your bank lol. I believe some people had their iPhones charged the same or next day last year, but not sure if the watches being preordered earlier than the iPhone meant the money was typically taken earlier.

Now that new orders are pushed to October delivery, I'm just concerned by bank is going to have a dizzy fit and not allow it, as I ordered with my Curve card to collect cash back from my transaction which is the first time I've used it for a transaction that doesnt go out immediately.

Looks like dates have slipped for delivery, was still showing as release day last night around 11pm.

In-store collections is still possible on the day. I've gone for the following for an in-store pickup:

Was anyone able to use gift cards/Apple balance when pre-ordering? It doesn't seem to work for me on the app, or website, but I did do a mock order for some AirPods and it would have let me use gift cards for those.

I used my Apple account balance and it seems to be fine. Ordered via the App at 7:30pm on 09/09

It was the AppleCare stopping it going through. I took that off and could use my Apple account balance.

Fortunately the black 46mm cellular with sport loop is still available for delivery on the 20th.

preordered the 46mm black aluminium with the basic fabric sport loop (slate milanese slipped it a week). Also ordered a black stainless steel milanese loop off amazon for £10.

It may take a while for third parties to update with matching bands or maybe the black SS ones will work ok, but I like my current cheap silver SS ones with my stainless S5 so wanted another one


was going to trade in my S5 even though - stainless steel and cellular - they only offered £55 which seems crazy. But doing so seemed to not let me do finance so I ditched it and I’m financing at £20 a month through barclays. I’ll probably sell the watch at CEX as its too big for my wife most likely

I wasn’t even waiting on the starting block as it were as I didn’t even realise the preorder was going up straight after the event and got one for the 20th no issue, same one as you but with the ink sport loop so I think it’s the strap yeah.

I just had my Apple Pay payment rejected just now, it’s done this a couple of times now with preorders including for the iPhone 15 Pro, it eventually goes through but it’s really annoying.

I'd just use a card, if I were you.

Especially if you're going to pre-order the new iPhone.

I won’t be getting the new iPhone and unfortunately once the order gets stuck like this trying to change the payment method simply doesn’t work, it’s a right pain they haven’t fixed this problem still.

I've gone Series 0, Series 5 and now going to Series 10. Have previously had silver as I love the raw aluminium looks but this year I decided on the jet black to make it really feel new. I'm worried about that finish though so will be keeping my S5 for work purposes

Reading posts above, I’ve just checked my AW10 preorder. Sure enough it has moved from “processing“ to “preparing to ship” and the £429 is pending on my credit card.

First Apple Watch; have avoided them until now. Went with smaller size / jet black / black strap. Order processing; ships 20th.

Yeah, not a bad idea. You could load up an apple gift card and use that.

You’ll also sometimes be able to find gift cards for 14-16% of with some of the card stores online. I always wonder if these come from scams or if they are a discount a dealer could cut from their profit.

We also have these cards on sale in normal supermarkets sometimes. Just now here in Germany you can get 10% store discount in one super market while the other one offers 10% in customer rewards points (can be traded into Apple gift cards).

It will save you some money if you want to buy day one and at Apple and if you are financially not as stable it’s probably much better to pay the installments up front and with a discount instead of after and potentially with interests. If you want to buy something that has student discount just grab yourself someone at a Uni to reduce the price further and maybe even get free AirPods with it or whatever Apple is doing these days. Even better would be a person that works at Apple. I think they get 25% but they might need to pay via their own account.

You can load up to 2000€ on your Apple ID and ad another eight gift cards to the purchase at checkout, so a maximum of 2800€… I spend more on a iMac before, but for most purchases that most people make that’s more than enough and saves you quiet a bit.
