Do you plan on ordering the new Apple Watch Series 7 (2021) this September?

If Hermes really leaked the launch date, I can’t imagine Apple being happy about it. It also seems stupid for Apple to not announce that date last month or just say “I’m October” if this is actually correct.

Think they did the same with the MagSafe Duo Charger last year though from memory

One thing that’s good to keep in mind is that the event was probably shot a few weeks before when it aired on the 14th, so that the editing can be done for it. Before then they would have decided to announce as later this fall. We could be over 6 weeks since that shot with Jeff was filmed or even longer.

All makes sense to me. If rumors were correct that mass production started early last week. Gives a month to build up inventory. Also lets excitement for watch peak before attention goes to October 12th Mac Event.

So Press Release for Apple Watch, October 4th?

Apple Invites for October Event, October 5th.

Apple Watch Pre-order October 8th.

Apple Event October 12th.

Apple Watch Launch October 15th. (New Macbook Pros and Mac Mini launch as well)

I'm thinking October 15th is too soon.

Just three weeks between iPhone 13 launch and an Apple Watch Series 7 launch seems too short for there not to be a date set from the first announcement.

Why?

Well:

For them not to put a date on it usually means there is uncertainty on their end around manufacturing, yields, etc., as opposed to them just being coy. This is especially the case here since the watch is on such a regular update cycle now. This delay is definitely the result of something going wrong.

The first gen iPad Pro, iPhone X, and iPhone 12 mini and Pro Max had 'long' (in Apple terms) periods between announcement and launch - but had a fixed launch date (or at least month) from the get go.

Other products with no fixed date had a long time until they arrived, e.g. original AirPods. Not three weeks.

Finally, when Apple gives a seasonal time window, they normally hit the end of that window, e.g. original Apple Watch ('early 2015'; shipped May), 2013 Mac Pro ('late 2013'; shipped December), 2019 Mac Pro ('late 2019'; shipped December).

Will happily eat my words though.

Very fair point. I was just thinking that the fall date was dependant on how production goes and that the fall date was set a few weeks before the event aired when they originally would have recorded it all.

I think this is a thorough and realistic analysis.👍
Do you know if Apple has used seasons in their wording like this before? “…later this spring”, “later this autumn…”. (I live in Norway, Apple site here still says “…later this autumn” not later this year).

Okay, we’re getting into semantics here, but I’m wondering what opinions are on the wording. Is the use of seasons (this fall) more vague than late 2021 or later this year?
To me it’s so vague it seems like they were aiming at early October but hoping for not later than early December. But I’m Norwegian so I won’t feel the wording the same way as Americans😌

They use seasons a lot.

For Group FaceTime, ‘later this fall’ meant October 30.

For Apple Pay Cash it meant December 5.

For Siri audio grading (not really a feature but still), it meant October 28.

For Apple TV+ it meant November 1.

For Apple One it meant October 30.

100% agree.

everyone who thought it would be last week or this week. Lolz

not even close. I bet we’ll see more of a November release. Before thanksgiving

Avoided buying the watch for 5 years and then finally made up my mind to get the 6 when rumours started to float about sugar and blood pressure monitoring. So, with a very heavy heart I decided to be patient and set myself a goal of losing at least 10-12 kgs or 20 odd pounds before gifting myself one. Turns out I have lost 20 kgs or 40 odd pounds and I have people telling me that the 6 is not something I should buy now and the 7 isn't released anywhere.

Also, if someone could give me some advice on the LTE and non LTE models? I see immense value in the LTE version but I don't know if it's a battery hogger.

Here in India, our version of Black Friday sale begins on the 2nd of October and it seems like the SE will be a very attractive price.

I have no idea what I should do. Get the 6 if I get a good deal, start with SE, LTE or non LTE or wait endlessly more for the 7.

Either go for a 6 or wait for the 7. As far as LTE, I got it for Whatsapp and phone calls when I dont feel like carrying my phone. If you have your phone most of the time, you can save a little and get the WiFi only version.

In what country ?
This is from the UK, but I’ve seen it today on the US store too. If you go to Amazon and search Series 7 and make sure to select ‘view out of stock items’ you should see them too
