Do you plan on ordering the new Apple Watch Series 7 (2021) this September?

Have you installed the latest update? I saw somewhere that people were having issues with severe battery drain after the update. If you did update, is there any way for you to roll back?

It auto upgraded to 8.0.1 overnight yeah… wonder if that’s it

I’m just loving the bigger display on the S7. It doesn’t sound like much on paper, but the larger size and reduced bezel are really noticeable.

Also, I orderEd my watch with the Clover band so I could get it on launch day. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the band. But, I’m really digging it.

Particularly enjoying the Clover band with Contour face in Dark Cherry. Sounds like an odd pairing, but I like it 😃

Hmm.. mine has been off the charger for around 6hr 15mins now, and has dropped from 100% to 62%. No heavy usage, literally just glancing at the time and checking the occasional notification. No workouts or music playback.

That drain seems like a bit much no? Puts it at about 16.5 hours of wearing time before dying. I thought 1.5 days was typical?
Oh, yes, that seems faster than normal. Maybe it just needs to settle for a day or so like phones do?

Forgot these existed for the Watch lol

Ordered at 10:11a, Series 7 45mm Midnight Cellular with Red Sport band

November 2-9 estimated ship date, currently Processing.

Mine has been off for more or less 10 hours. Light usage also : 73%.

1.5 days is not typical for the Series 6 or Series 7. The best case scenarios in lab conditions for the battery is rated at 18hrs use. 3- 4% drain per hour is more typical.

The thing that annoys me in this whole process is that Apple seemingly didn’t allocate enough watches to the pre-order side of things.

People who put in an order within 3 or 4 minutes of the pre-ordering starting are looking at a November delivery date, while any Joe Schmo can waltz into an Apple Store today and come out with a watch (ok, I know that’s a bit of an over-generalization).

Just doesn’t seem right to me.

Yes, I know that I too could waltz into an Apple Store but:

1) I’m traveling.

2) I’m lazy.

My closest Apple store, is well, not close.

🤣🤣OMG!!!!! Decided to check the Veteran’s store one more time before giving up and OMG!!!! I was able to place an order for pickup tomorrow. 🤩 I wanted the silver SS Milanese band—not available, but then tried for the graphite… and lo and behold—in stock🤣. Still not a problem though since I have a selection of SS bands from my SS4.

Oh man, I’m really in trouble now because I won’t be able to resist looking at, and maybe getting, the leather loop bands. Just cancelled my original 11/2-9 order with confirmation. YAY

3) for me nearest Apple Store is two hours away so a half day investment in time. NOTE : yesterday though local Best Buy had all the aluminum models in my town and one other. But most in Illinois did not. This is not common so not something I could count on. However I had no time to go there and then my shipping watch would need to be returned. Too much hassle. See your item number 2. ;-)

Im not sure what happened this year. But it looks like Apple’s own system was not reliable this year at all. Now some people are reporting it’s delayed until December. Which is insane.

I just think it’s down to global issues. It’s affecting all supply chains and Apple isn’t immune to it. Most people pre-order from Apple which will limit their stock. You could pre-order from a third party retailer (like Currys in the UK) and get it launch day, right up to the day before. John Lewis has good opening stock on Friday, but they don’t do pre-orders.

I work in retail and know first hand the effects the issues with supply chains is having. It’s very difficult for companies to get hold of stock, and then when they do, it’s difficult to get the stock in to the country.

Apple (and other retailers) will always keep stock aside for launch day walk-in sales. It’s just what happens. They wouldn’t let all stock be used for pre-orders.

Well another update on scans now in Shanghi 20 minutes after departure from factory. Scans slowly updating and populating. Even though the arrival was 14 hours ago China time. Probably now waiting at airport for awhile till they fly out mid next week

Arrival scan just showed up. Most likely it’ll be taking off to Japan. Hopefully we get a departure scan soon and it doesn’t just sit there. I have a feeling tomorrow we should be able to see it.

I agree with you. But it’s also a hit or a miss with Apple stores. Not all of them received a full inventory and not everything is available at the store. So there is a compromise you are making
