Yeah, it wasn't really on my radar cause they won't ship to Australia, but i thought others may like it ... didn't notice the extra shipping cost.

No worries, it's always good to have options! It's just a shame, because I thought $59 was pushing it but I really liked the design. When I saw the shipping cost, it tipped me into the forget it category.

I went to the Apple store tonight to grab one of the silver chargers since I only have the sport charger. I can absolutely confirm that the diameter is the same for both chargers. The height is different.

This does not affect the design of my Oak Charging stands that I have been making. It works just as well as the sport charger and is 100% interchangeable.

Hey guys I bought a $106 USD stand from Pad and Quil, now I'm pondering if this was worth it. What I liked most was that it was foldable and thus I could easily use it when travelling (i have to go back and forth between home and uni)

Any thoughts? Bad purchase?

I'm in the UK and have never heard of this company also, anyone had any dealings with them?

They gave me 20% and asked twice where I got this information

I am not particularly happy that Nomad is choosing who they are giving what discounts to for delaying the release of the product.

But let's back up on this...

They aren't even offering anything unless you complain in the first place.

Normally, I don't mind when a product is delayed because of manufacturing problems.

However, in this case, the company took everyone's money up front. That is one thing that should never have been done unless they were absolutely positive of the promised release date.

I know things happen, but there are a lot of other stand choices out there and a possibility to get them before the Nomad finally gets released.

My opinion? Nomad should now offer all their customers a 20% discount across the board and not pick and choose discount totals based upon who complains the hardest.

Just my two cents in all this.

i got disgusted with this company when they started playing with their discounts for the products..... you get 40%...... you only get 15%..... oh wait... you can have 22%....

i wonder if the variance in discounts now that they are delayed have anything to do with the discount you originally got? say a 15% original purchasers is offered 20% but a 30 of 40% original purchase is getting nothing no only 10% offered?

just a thought... ?

regardless... i'm now glad i didn't preorder from them once they pulled the 30% so fast!

Pad and Quill is a reputable company, but why is the price so high on that? Is it because of international shipping?

I bet you could get a local woodworker to make you something similar for a quarter of the price.

I just sent a request to also cancel my order. There's no law that states they can't charge your card in advance and I'm sure they need those funds to deliver the goods. However, most CC merchant accounts usually don't allow for charging the card ahead of shipment.
I thought at first that this stand would be a good compliment for my Elago stands I have for my iPhone & iPad, but after looking at the preproduction pictures, I'm not sure if it's going to be a very smoothly finished product and I received a 22% discount when first ordering. So, their offer for late ship isn't really any good.

Yes, there now a multitude of stands and prices now available for earlier shipping than this. And cheaper. I just ordered a Spiegen stand through Amazon for $20 with free shipping. At least I know that if the product isn't acceptable that I have a better chance of a resolution.

I'll match your 2 cents

Even the coating on some of the more finished stand photos doesn't look that impressive. I think they did some excellent marketing but the product isn't living up to the photoshopped preproduction images. I also ordered the Spiegen stand for the same reasons as you. I will obviously get the Speigen stand first and may then cancel the Nomad stand. I liked that the Speigen stand protects the watch with the rubber coating, I would prefer a space grey/black option though.

International shipping is about $30 USD IIRC. The unit cost of the stand is $69.99.

Anyway, as much as the portability of the Pad and quill stand appealed to me I've cancelled it now, it is just too much money for what it is.

Instead I've ordered the Griffin stand:

650x433xHeader_WatcStand_650.jpg,q1425937977.pagespeed.ic.yFKGDPzq9P.jpg

At $30 it does the job at a fraction of the price.

Having had the watch for about half a day I can't understand anyone who wouldn't buy a stand, the current charging solution is clumsy and a stand is a MUST IMHO.

Just got my Watchstand from Griffin delivered.

Seems pretty solid and the build quality is great. Unfortunately I still don't have my Apple Watch so I can't fully test it out (damn me for choosing a leather loop and being stuck in processing! haha) but I did pick up an extra charger at my local Apple Store to see how it would work with the stand.

The metal magnetic charger it a pretty snug fit, so it makes me wonder how well the dock will work with the plastic chargers that were included with the Sport watch models since those look like they're a little thicker than the metal ones from what I've seen online.

I can post an unboxing video or photos of the stand if you guys would like!

Nice. Ordered this one as well. Does the base have a little weight to it, so it won't slide around on a table?

Pics are always welcome here.

Some kickstarter links that looked interesting:
Duet
WatchDock Steel

This one comes with a genuine Apple charger and looks similar to one someone posted earlier:
Unify Dock
Night Stand

I've seen a lot that I liked, but I kind of want one now. And nothing I've seen is currently in stock.

Hi,

I was browsing the forum and was excited to see our dock mentioned! I just wanted to note that the links are actually backwards for Unify Dock and Night Stand.

We are very pleased to be mentioned as launched our Kickstarter just today! If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! We would love to hear your feedback.
