I have an idea for a stand that I've created a digital prototype for. I wonder if I should try to make a physical model of it to test it out? Its very different from any of the stand types I've seen on here or elsewhere and it works just as well in landscape or portrait mode.

I'm really reluctant to post an image of it as I don't have it patented and realize how quickly ideas that aren't protected get stolen.

Anyone have any recommendations?

If you're gonna make one then you should make a dual stand, both for Apple Watch and iPhone. There are so little out there in that category but so much in the category of just a stand for Apple Watch alone.

I would say if you have access to a 3D printer or a Maker studio then try it out man. If people like it here and it works out, post it up and maybe offer it for sales....Although I think forum rules would prevent you from selling it directly on here. But at least you could let us know it exists and what it looks like. You could always apply for patent if it is good enough and then at least have a patent pending too.

I want to purchase the Nomad watch stand are there any issues with this product?

I'd say that it could potentially scratch your bracelet only if it's made of SS like Link or any other HOCO etc.. The watch itself is safe. I've personally covered the edges of my Nomad with transparent tape. The metallic surface is slightly grainy, not completely smooth like a Macbook or iPad back. Stand looks great though...

TwelveSouth stand is a good alternative. It doesn't look as good as the Nomad but they've added rubber-like linings.

Picked this up at BestBuy yesterday, Griffin WatchStand $29.99 - Not bad, I like how you can hide the extra cord inside the stand which is made of a durable silicone - The bottom has some nice weight to it so this will not simply tip over. (

Were you able to wrap the cord and get the top piece to snap or fit tightly back into the stand? I can't push mine down enough, it's too tight with the cord in there.

Edit: I was able to get it, just had to really wrap the cord tight. I like the stand, seems nice and sturdy.

Got an Apple Watch Sport yesterday, finally. Right away i knew i needed to get a base/stand/home for it, my main daily watch doesn't need to be charged so it sits here when i'm not wearing it.

I didn't like 98% of the current options available on Amazon Prime, all of them look the same, not a fan of the common high stand design. I just ordered the Charger Dock by Rest. I like the design and that i can add more options to it in the future, plus it's made and designed in the US.

Hello guys, sorry for my English, I am from Russia. Yesterday I made from solid oak the dock for AW, I used sand paper 120-180-240, brought to a perfect finish on oak and coated with a special oil on wood. Get a nice matte finish that emphasizes the beauty of the wood. Weight 60 gr. stand fast, hold pleasantly, no weighting is not necessary. This is the test model and it will have small changes this week.

Yeah, I had the same issue. It took me a few tries also to get the cord wrapped pretty tight.

I've been using the Orzly Duo for a couple of weeks now.
http://www.amazon.com/Orzly®-Built--Lightning-functional-Simultaneously/dp/B00W9VR830

It's ok, but the lack of a lip on the iPhone holder is a problem. I charge horizontally at night to use as an alarm clock and twice the phone has fallen off the holder onto the floor (from the top of a dresser). It just needs a little something to provide more protection for the phone or iPad.

Nice. I am a woodwork teacher myself and I will be knocking one of these up (maybe a few) when I get back after the holidays.

The day I brought my Apple watch home from the Apple store I stopped by Best Buy and picked up a space grey Nomad stand. I had been intrigued by these ever since I first saw mention of them here several months ago. I also was aware that the design had been changed a bit and that over time some customers had run into problems with delivery and/or refunds. Eh.... Wanted to try it out anyway. Brought it home, liked the looks of it but was immediately concerned about the potential impact of metal against metal (mine is the Apple stainless steel black watch with black stainless steel bracelet). I put some tape on the areas where I thought there might be contact. Meh.....even thought I'd tried to be careful I could still see the tape there and that didn't look so great, especially when I'd forked out the amount of money I had for the Nomad stand. I wasn't thrilled with the color, either.

In the meantime I did more research and learned about the Mophie Apple Watch Dock, which while not available at the Best Buy at which I'd gotten my Nomad stand, was at another one in the area, so yesterday on the way to somewhere else when I would be passing right by that Best Buy, I stopped in and bought the Mophie. Later in the evening, once home again, I put everything together, popped the Apple watch on it and decided that it was more esthetically and functionally pleasing, and most importantly, it did not cause any problems with my stainless steel band banging up against any other metal. Charged my watch up just fine overnight. It looks cool either with or without the watch on it -- no tape needed, either! That was that, decision made. Today I peeled the tape off the Nomad and removed my watch's cable, found my receipt, carefully placed the stand back into its box and returned it to Best Buy. I then picked up a second Mophie watch dock to use for travel......

Bought a stand on ebay for $10.99. I'm glad I found one that ships domestically and ships fast, I don't have to wait for like a month to come from China. I'm surprised at the quality, it's good but the base, there's rattling inside, I think they just put a small rock inside :p but it works and I'm happy with my purchase.

Until there's a killer iPhone/Watch charging stand that supports nightstand mode and isn't huge, I decided to repurpose my existing TwelveSouth HiRise. I just cut out a leftover screen protector to cover the front of the stand to prevent any scratching. Looks decent and I like having the watch and iPhone in a compact setup (not side by side).

So Cal
Now we're talkin! Maybe. Not sure my large wrist-sized link bracelet would fit into the cup, but at least someone is thinking about this form factor.

Ok, so I decided to give this one a try. First off, I have the Spigen metal stand and the Elevation Lab Night Stand. I don't particularly like the metal stand because it's metal and I now like to have my watch as my bedside clock and alarm. The Elevation Lab Night Stand is too light. I found myself causing it to tip forward when placing my watch on it and I am not coordinated enough to always do a two finger hold off the watch to turn off the alarm. So the watch would end up coming off the charger when I tried to turn off / snooze the alarm. The Elevation Lab does have a sticky tape bottom to protect against knocking over, but I like to move the dock back on my night stand, out of the way when not being used, and then pulling it close at bed time. The sticky bottom is, I think intended to be placed in one spot and stay there.

Here is my quick random comments review of the Silicone...Bow Charger.

It's not heavy, but is not as light as I thought it looked. Meaning it feels the perfect weight. It won't slide around unless you pick it up or forcefully push. The thin upper part (lid I guess) has a rectangular opening that fits around the charging puck. You lift it off to place in the charging cable and the put it back on. It is not the most sophisticated dock to the eye or touch, but it does work. The watch and any band is very safe in the holder, which is really soft and smooth silicone. I am able to turn off / snooze the alarm one handed, although the surface is not firm. The inside of the holder is solid in the center where the charging puck is held, but hollow around the circle. So when you press the crown or favorites button, the lid pushes in. I first put the lid in too far down and my watch wasn't resting on it, and when I pressed down on the watch it came off the charger. I then lifted up the lid a bit and the watch no longer came off. Bottom line is it works and holds the Apple Watch safely in the holder. I like it and will use it until I see something better.

I posted these on the Ladies only thread but I thought to post here as well.

So. This stand just arrived. It's from Ingram and although it is nice looking there's absolutely no weight to it. I honestly thought that for the money payed, $37.00 it would be a great heavy duty stand but it isn't. Doesn't even work as a paperweight.
My "Natures Best" stand has more weight than this considering its a small piece of wood and although I'm aware there's a chance of scratching on it, it still holds better than the iStand.
