Every dock would have pros and cons, some better than others. This one, I dunno. Even without the phone, not sure if I would find it handy to put my Watch around such a large diameter.
Two things I'm looking for in a charging stand. First that it can charge both my watch and my iPhone. Second that it support charging the watch in the orientation to use the "On" feature that is coming with WOS2.
If it were also to be made of Apple Wood, well, that would truly be the cats meow, and I would do my happy dance. (You really wouldn't want to see that, I do it in private.)

It sounds like the Enblue Premium One W2 in mahogany would be close. www.enbluetec.com. It isn't shown on the website but on their Kickstarter updates a video was shown where the watch is using nightstand mode. The problem with that stand is that I think the watch and/or stand would get stretched where the watch rests on the base

I got this really cool Wooden Cube for my Watch by WooDesigners from Etsy for $49.00, and it's actually REALLY nice.
I'm so in love with it I'm giving all my docks away, keeping this one and I'm also giving one of these away. Which I'll post details of the giveaway on YT later.
Anyways. It's made of Walnut and Maple Woods with a wooden button that comes off to allow integrating the charging button in the face for charging. What I like about it most is that it's versatile and the cable management is good allowing room for the cable to go in straight from the face so it doesn't bent backwards or inwards with a wide gap to allow the exit of the cable seamlessly, for it to be put in to the a/c adapter, and also once Watch OS2.0 is released; you'll be able to use it on Night Stand Mode.
I think of all of the Charging Stations I've seen, this is by far one of my favorites IF not my most favorite of them all.
It'll set you back for the price but you're getting what you're paying for which is a real good quality Cube Dock that'll last you years which in the long run it is a great investment specially when it's for your Watch which you'll want only best quality products. Also there isn't any metal or magnetic attachments in to the dock which could potentially interfere with the watch whatsoever.
I believe comes in other colors but this one caught my eye. It's elegant, simple and great quality for the price.
I can also verify that you can fit the Apple Watch wearing the Link Band or any other band in the round face of the cube.
Let me add the designers Tom and Scott were very gracious to work with me. I simply never expected such high quality from this cube to be honest and to hold it, see the weigh and the quality, I'm completely mind blown!

the link band fits but... how are you supposed to get it on to the cradle? it looks from the pictures like you'd have to unscrew and rescrew the wooden button each time, and same for the milanese loop? i'd find that incredibly annoying.
do the feet come attached to the unit already?

Reminds me of a toilet paper roll or a paper towel roll........ Also, I would find it too large and bulky. Looks as though one would need plenty of space for it!
I second your thoughts!! I looked and looked to find a quality stand and finally settled on this one because of the great deal on Amazon. I have to say, I could not be happier with this purchase, and I would highly recommend it to you anyone looking for a quality stand.
I've come across this new Orzly NightStand, I've got a couple pictures that I took off my iPhone on my work desk. Does the trick perfectly. Holds my Apple Watch 42mm nicely. Still waiting for the OS2 to be released then I'll be getting another one of these for home so I can use it properly as an alarm.
I'm a big fan of my Poetic Loft. Simple, functional, small foot print and affordable.

Premium One w2 for iPhone and Watch. Gorgeous, small footprint, functional. You can see a few photos and reviews on it in this thread.
I guess my previous post just saying "I agree" was too short and got flagged. So... here is a longer version of the same thing. The Premium One W2 is the nicest dual stand I have seen. I don't think anything else is close. The iPhone dock is adjustable so it works with just about any case. The dock looks great and meshes well with both the look of the iPhone and of the watch. The dock also works well with all bands. There are stands out there that don't work well with the link bracelet.
