So I bought the 12.9 M2 Pro from Best Buy for $799 and I'm still in the return window. Should I get the 11 inch M4 for $899 and get the $100 gift card? I don't use a keyboard or pencil. 12.9 feels too big but now my 2018 11 inch Pro feels small lol. What should I do?
No you got a good deal since you don’t need the pencil or keyboard.

While I wait for the sale to go live, now I figure out whether it's worth it to buy AppleCare. I don't usually, but if I bought the magic keyboard at the same time I buy the Air 11", aren't both covered? And 10% off for students.

My original thought was to buy the Air and apply the g.c. to the keyboard.

As someone who has broken an iPhone and AirPod Pros, I’d say it’s worth the extra ~$10 per month. Yeah, Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil are covered under the same Apple care coverage for the iPad.

I can't speak to your disposable income, but if you can afford it, applecare will afford you a better experience.

No screen shield that 10x the reflection.
No thick case that may not work with your magic keyboard
Peace of mind that the magic keyboard will be durable (previous generations rip and mar all the time)

of course if you don't care about scratch and dings because you are super careful, than this is not applicable and i won't recommend applecare either

Get the 12.9 (13) m4. It will feel smaller than what you currently have and bigger than what you’re considering getting.

AppleCare is usually 20% cheaper during back to school also.

Makes sense. 12.9 M2 feels really thick and not as easy to old out of the smart folio case. I like to feel the iPads when I use them. But I don't hear of many people getting the 13 without a pencil or magic keyboard. Outside of Max, Prime, and Youtube, it's my go to for web browsing, Libby, PressReader, etc. I know I can do all these things on the Air but I need ProMotion and at least Mini LED, if not OLED.

Yea but repairs with apple cares still cost money..

Do you have a laptop already? Keep the 12.9” if you don‘t have a desktop or laptop or get the 11” if you do.

I'm going to combine this with FL's back to school sales tax holiday at the end of July and pick myself up a MacBook Air 15" 16/256. Can't wait!

13 inch 2017 MBP i rarely use except for storing old photos, files, my resume, and if I need to use Word/Excel outside of work which is almost never.

And yet I never have. I wonder what drives the difference? I’ve always had to package all the stuff up, return and rebuy. I much prefer your solution. It really makes the most sense.
That's odd. Mine has been automatic. Once it went live, I got an email that day saying that since I bought one within a time frame, I was eligible and got it.
is this automatic or..?
Mine have been. But the person above didn't get anything so maybe it's not. That's odd.

It looks like it's just 10%. Regardless, I think I'll splurge for it because when I'm not using it like a MacBook Lite, I plan on using it without a case for reading. It comes to less than $3/mo for two years, and will cover the Air M2 and Magic Keyboard.

Definitely 100% get it, I regret not getting it, now I'm stuck with a broken iPad that would have met all my needs otherwise -_-

btw if I want to get the apple pencil with the credit, would I have to first order the Pad and then after 24 hours I get a gift card that I use to buy the apple pencil or how?

pretty much.

my tactic is just to buy it all, and use the apple card on applecare+ instead. Need to verify whether you can use apple gift card on applecare+ but it solves the "all on the same receipt" issue that i see pop up for accessories wanting warranty coverage.

They email you the Apple GC after order ships or you pick up in store -- then you can use the GC as payment on your next purchase

wait a sec. I chatted with them and they confirmed the pencil and coverage can be separate and that's still fine... either way, if I order both and then get apple care, will I still get the education applecare+ offer that covers the 2 things for 2 years with a 10% discount (or that's what I read)
