How about a basic password manager, like "Passwords Plus" on the Palm? Oooops.... that would require copy/paste!

1password will help out a bit. I think i read they are going to build their own webkit web browser and fill in the data for you so at least for web forms. No copy and paste needed.

Of course there still needs a solution for things outside of a web browser.

Real-time car info

I would like to see an app that reads data from the car in real-time and calculates gas mileage, etc. No need to enter data manually!
Here is one for the Nokia N800 that I have used:
http://openbossa.indt.org/carman/
It reads the data wirelessly via a bluetooth OBD-II device that you plug in under your dash.

You can already view PDF files, that is native. Do you want somewhere to store them?

It may be native, but there are several important features missing!

For example, if my PDF file contains a table of contents page with links to other pages/chapters within the same PDF file, they will work just fine in the OS-X version of Preview, or in any version of Adobe Reader. Those links will not work at all with the internal PDF renderer included on the iPhone.

In both Preview and Adobe Reader, you can specify your desired view (single page, multiple pages, single page continuous, multiple pages continuous...). The internal PDF renderer on the iPhone only has one such option: single page continuous.

In both Preview and Adobe Reader, there is the ability to go to the next page, or the previous page, and maintain page alignment when in single page view. The internal PDF renderer on the iPhone only allows scrolling for navigation, and will not "snap" the next page into alignment.

... and, as you already mentioned, having somewhere to store personal PDF files is a prerequisite!

Two of my favorites that were available in the wild:
- VNC app of some kind
- Wiki content available offline (~2gig, but boy is it worth it!)

I'd like an app that allows me to check local TV listings. I'd also like to be able to program my Tivo to schedule recordings. I strongly suspect at least one of these will come out soon, though.

I'm really pleased with 2.0!

How about...

an app that allows you to use your iphone as a wireless touchpad mouse/keyboard for your computer. Really I just like the idea of the mouse but the keyboard might as well be included.

MSN for sure, or even something like ebuddy!

Wifi 2P games, and just retro games in general.

I know no one agrees with me, but i would love an msn windows messenger app as everyone i know uses it.

I don't want JUST an MSN Messenger app, but I'd LOOOVE a multi-client. Enough people I know use each service that I could really use one. ESPECIALLY if it could push. Oh, man, would that kick ass.

I would like to see a traffic update apps with gps tracking, so lets say your on the road, the app would pick up your location and send u msgs of any traffic near by, or even better, u use the google maps and put location and destination, and either google or a 3rd party dev. has the ability to keep u updates on traffic on road traffic accidents or road works etc. I would definitely pay for that.
