GrandCentral ! I would love a slick app that would give me access to all the features of GrandCentral. Using their web interface on an iPhone is clunky to say the least!

Business Apps for Sales Agents

Greetings:

As mentioned before there isn't too many Business Apps for the Iphone.

If there would be an App that could help Sales Agents, would this be an App

that everyone would consider?

Being in business if an App on the Iphone would make it easier for Sales Agents this would be interesting to tryout, anyone agree?

Regards Robert

an app that allows you to use your iphone as a wireless touchpad mouse/keyboard for your computer. Really I just like the idea of the mouse but the keyboard might as well be included.

I like it....add keyboard and mouse for PS3 and Wii and I'm completely sold.

I'd like to be able to quickly change my settings based on location. For example:
1) In the office: WiFi on, 3G off, BlueTooth off
2) In the car: WiFi off, 3G on, BlueTooth on

etc.

I would write this app myself, but the SDK will not allow it.

^^you think you'd be allowed to use your iPhone during an exam? Unlikely, lol.

Anyways, I want an IM program that supports MSN (MobileChat, if it ever gets released!)

I'd also like a DataViz documents to go app.

Oh, and TomTom of course.

Seconded!!

Tom Tom, Tom Tom, and Tom Tom
TomTom of course.

Looking unlikely. I got this from TomTom UK today, following an enquiry I made....

We have no plans to release an application for the iPhone at present. We do have an application that runs on the iPhone, but we nave not announced that it will be made available commercially at the moment.
...and...
I'm afraid I don't have any information on why it is not going to be released at this stage. I can only confirm that we haven't announced the application - it was mentioned in a conversation with Reuters, and the story then grew from there.

:(

(edit: thought of another, an app to backup and restore just the Notes.db. Sometimes I don't want to restore all the settings, just the notes)

Take out menus

I'd love an app that would allow you to view the takeout menus of various restaurants in a format that makes sense on an iPhone. The app would use your location to determine the closest restaurant (i.e. if there are several chillis in your area for example) and show their number. Obviously franchises would be a prime candidate, but it would be nice if you could somehow integrate scanned .pdf menus into the app.

well, just wanted to post a follow up tot he app i requested.. you know that app MY LIFE RECORDS that shows all your medical records??

well, they ARE going to do one for pets so you can have all your pets info in your phone and set up reminders for vaccines and such .. I REALLY think this would be great.. especially if there was an emergency and you had to go to an e-vet or something.. The reminder in itself would be GREAT!

i've seen teachers allow this before, a lot of them. but my main problem would be my SATs.

Wow, maybe in High School (though I doubt it) but university? At the university I go to, you're only allowed using "faculty standard calculators". You have to right the name and model number of your calculator on the exam sheet sometimes! I woudn't be caught dead with an iPhone - let alone a cell phone - during a university exam!

Apps for visually impaired

This is really getting to me. I love my iPhone 3g, but am very surprised that there are no Apps or "Mode" for the visually impaired.

My girlfriend is legally blind. She can still see enough to get around, but cell phones have always been a pain for her mostly when it comes to text messaging.

The iPhone has got a perfect screen for large print.

If the contacts list could be made with a larger font, and the Text messaging could be done horizontally with a larger keyboard and a larger print she would be the happiest girl in the world. I have noticed with e mail you can increase font size and that actually works well enough. But that is just a small part of the phone....

Seems so simple. I would pay for an app if there was one. (Larger Text Messaging.)

So why has Steve Jobs overlooked this and who can I write to?

I know we are not the only people in the world who are feeling overlooked.

TIA

I agree, maybe someone can make a simple all in one app that functions as e-mail, contact, and dialing, or other features, so she doesn't have to jump around.

One though, with the speech voice dialer. It can bring up a contact by speaking the name, but if that contact has multiple numbers, it could be hard to see which one to press. Possibly creating multiple contacts with last names referring to the number. Like John Mobile, John Work, John Home. And the software would bring up that contact and it would be easy to tap the area of the screen with the number.

For sending e-mail. Seeing how there's no large keyboards to type. Maybe ReQall will work. It's a voice recording app that converts to text, but it can have it's own contacts from other people who signed up. So if your girlfriend signed up, and you did too, and add each other to the contacts via the online account, she could possible send you an e-mail by speaking it. It will know who to send it to by the name that is spoken. Not 100% sure, but possibly saying, Note, to John, and so on. After 15 or more minutes, it will be converted to text and sent to your account. You account can be set to instantly notify you by sending you an e-mail with the audio file and text conversion. The software will also note words like buy, to put it in the shopping list, and even dates, so nothing has to be entered in, all spoken. SMS reminders to. This is mainly usefull for someone like your girlfriend to send something out, but the iPhone app only shows the text, only the e-mail will have the audio, and it might be hard to find it that if she received one.
