I used Arctic Fox 27.9.19 with very rare problems.

Yesterday, back home and my iMac, I downloaded and launched the new Arctic Fox 27.10.1.

Arctic Fox 27.10.1 works very well, better than 27.9.19.

Anyway I have a small problem which is not essential but I can't understand, I can't launch 27.9.19 again, some initial add-ons verification and the, nothing. Only that application is launched, not any other FF ones.

Thanks for the update :)

We had profile issues in the past, and Riccardo basically did a huge overhaul on session store / restore (as it was only partially patched in pm27). That may be a reason why going back to .19 didn't work properly. I can't think of any other reason though. Glad 10.1 is working well. We aren't too far away from another release. Few more weeks i'm guessing. There's a few small quirks to iron out on the win32 side of things yet.

Cheers

Wait a second.. When i tried Arctic Fox under Leopard on my PB G4 DLSD it would not open up or work. Does it run under Leopard ?

Not sure whether this is related to the coming release. But if it is, may I remind you of what I posted (3rd §) about locking the sessionstore.js file, and could you ask Riccardo if this or any other… lockdown [?] of files contained in the Profile might interfere when updating?

Hi! Thank you tremendously for your work! I haven't had time to read through the whole thread, although it's interesting, but as far as I understand this is the most functional and pretty much only still maintained/alive browser for the legendary and still not yet entirely dead Snow Leopard.

I have one huge request for you. Could you make this website work? It's the most important to me. It's Swedish state public service television SVT's play video site. They did alter something in November that made Firefox 52 on Windows XP no longer able to play videos from there. Sometimes there's obviously a video stream going, because you hear the sound, but no player shows up. Safari 5.1.10 on at least one occasion worked, strangely.
Here's an example video that is available until 4 December and can be viewed worldwide: https://www.svtplay.se/video/26947405/agenda/agenda-partiledardebatt-7-juni-20-00 No login required. I would be massively grateful if you could do that. Would definitely make a donation to you if I ever get some to spare.

And one (and a half) question: Is it possible to use NoScript? In any case I can't seem to find an old version of NoScript. Where are they? I know I've downloaded them before.

PS. Note when I registered this account: 10.6 2020 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You can get noscript from here: https://secure.informaction.com/download/releases/noscript-5.1.9.xpi
and Ublock here: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-f....16.4.20/uBlock0_1.16.4.20.firefox-legacy.xpi

While AF does get security updates and bug fixes, the core code for it's rendering engine is becoming outdated, so as time goes on more and more sites will eventually not work properly. You might want to give SpiderWeb a try as it's based on a newer rendering engine, but without updates. It may just work on that site, and makes for a good "secondary" browser on stubborn sites.

Cheers

Nice unexpected gift, wicknix! I used to be a fan, but all that time I was convinced that it wasn't compatible with AF. For old users who might have forgotten:

Tip 1. Open your old Firefox > NoScript! > Export > [any name will do, no extension needed] > AF > NoScript! > Import. Voilà!

Tip 2. To check whether a site should be allowed or not, press Shift while clicking on its entry in the menu > new NoScript! tab from which you can open that site and see what it's about.

Thanks again @wicknix for that excellent idea, you really know the interest of an old school Snow Leopard user ;)

And you're right, I've been trying Spiderweb as a secondary browser on what you call stbborn sites, I'd say weird displaying sites.

Spiderweb succeeds on some I launched, the problem I meet is to import bookmarks, I tried anything, no import from menus, no drag and drop, copying bookmarkbackups from the Arcticfox profile, etc.

I use an html export of AF bookmarks as a file. Is there a better solution for bookmarks and why not for all datas (cookies, logins, etc.) ?

It's just a bit different, madbiker31

AF
: Library/Import and Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML…
>> SW: Tools menu > Import HTML… et voilà (≈ 1000 bookmarks in my case)

I haven't tried to import passwords, and I'm not sure it's a good idea to import cookies, as I should think that many of them are related to the specific browser they get layed on.

So ?

A precision, not any tools menu in the Bookmarks manager window either.

I don't understand, I've install SpiderWeb 2.2.1 for 10.6 from the link above and I don't have the same than you.

@RobJos @madbiker31 you are both correct in what you show because they are different windows.

On the main menu bar you will see Tools as madbiker31 shows, but if in the main menu you go main menu > Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks, then when the pop-up Bookmarks Manager window appears, a sub-main menu appears with Tools showing what RobJos sees. :)

@verdantppc is correct.
SpiderWebs main menu:
Menu1.png

Manage bookmarks opens the bkmark manager:
Menu2.png

From bkmark managers tools menu you can import html bkmarks from another browsers exported bkmarks.

OK, I just missed an evidence !

Thanks to @verdantppc and the confirmation of @wicknix I realize that the main menu changes with the bookmarks manager opened. I'm not used of that behavior, now I'm better.

I Imported my bookmarks

The more I try SpiderWeb, the more I appreciate as ArticFox meets problems on some stubborn sites.

I continue on the SpiderWeb subject concerning this browser.

Wicknix, when I was on your blog, I didn’t see anymore of the 10.5/10.4 versions of web browsers - are they still there ?
