With your post things have suddenly escalated one level. What we have now! Someone complaining about the people complaining about those complaining about the fingerprints. ;)
I get annoyed by people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining about fingerprints. I've lost what level we're at now.

A cursory scroll through this thread will show you whether OP is simply laughing about it or all up in his feelings about how other people use their own money.

I'll let you figure out which one for yourself.
I'm afraid I'm not seeing what you're seeing. I think people are just having a laugh at ridiculous stuff is all 🤷‍♂️

I like the midnight color too much but the fingerprints will bother me. It's like $60+ for a full clear skin...considering it. Thought about dbrands but they only have colors and patterns...defeats the purpose of getting midnight.

Lol, 6 pages and people is still feeding him.
Nothing to feed, it’s a genuine mystery how people can return a machine over finger marks. People say I’m hypocritical because I don’t like the notch on the newer models but the difference is I wouldn’t buy a machine with a notch on in the first place knowing I’d return it once I got it, and the notch is a serious visual impairment which can completely alter the mechanics of the machine and completely change the experience of using it as it covers the screen or is in your peripheral vision as you type which causes mis typing

I'm not a fan of the lighter colors but I can appreciate how good starlight looks objectively. If midnight didn't exist I would go with boring space gray.

I think most people who get a MacBook with the notch discover it is actually no big deal.
So here's the thing: people think the notch is terrible and it turns out not to be, whereas many people think fingerprints won't be an issue but it turns out it is really annoying.
In neither case do you find this out without actually trying it out for a week or so (especially if ordering online, not in a store).

I have the midnight and the fingerprints are super bad. the palm wrest has constant smudges from your wrists. I'm not returning it but I can definitely see why some would.

The notch, like fingerprints, is a non issue, my man.

Had there not been a dbrand wrap option for the iPad Pro’s magic keyboard, I think I would’ve enjoyed the experience of using it less. The material on the back is magnet for dirt and oil, and it doesn’t wipe clean very easily. It’s still a great product & design sans this issue, but I could understand someone returning over it.

Returning the midnight M2 Air over showing fingerprints and scratches is even more understandable, since there are other finishes available without these problems, right?

The man is fuming like a toddler who dropped the top scoop of his 2-scoop ice cream on the sidewalk but his parents refused to buy him another one. All because of how other people are using their own money,

But sure. I guess he's just having a laugh.
Yes, you're right. This man is actually suggesting that people who are upset about fingerprints - you know, the worst thing that can happen in tech - pay Apple £10,000 for wasting their time. He's totally serious.

Also just a small point of clarification, but I don't think this man is making any kind of commentary about how other people are using their own money, I think he's laughing at people who have used their money, but now want it back, because they're fuming like a toddler who dropped the top scoop of his 2-scoop ice cream on the sidewalk but his parents refused to buy him another one. All because of how some aluminum shows fingerprints.

Literally no one else is fuming here but him. Everyone who wants to return their laptops are returning them in peace.

If you want to cloak someone else's extremely immature POV as humor, be my guest, but not everyone is as magnanimous or has the capacity to handle ******** like you.

I guess this is where we differ. I don't think laughing at adults, returning an incredibly awesome laptop, because they can see their fingerprints on it, is immature. It seems reasonable to me. I mean seriously, we're talking about fingerprints. These aren't machines that have arrived dented, or defective in some way. They show some fingerprints. I'm literally typing this on my Midnight MBA right now, and yeah, there's a few barely noticeable smudges or fingerprints, but (and I may need to start a thread for this, since I seem to have stumbled upon a much more effective solution), if one just... wipes them away, problem solved!

In case you're wondering how I managed to figure that out, I thought back to one of the zillion times that I've used my iPhone and happened to notice that the screen also shows fingerprints and then I remembered that I can just wipe them away there too (often with my fingers if you can believe it!) and it worked. I figured it was worth a try here also.

Is it really that much of a stretch for you to imagine people having varying priorities as a consumer, as logical or illogical they may be?

Its not like anyone is illegally breaking Apple's rules to return these laptops. Apple gives them every single right to return their laptops for as juvenile a reason as they might deem. It is the fact that anyone else feels the need to get upset over these juvenile reasons people have that is even worse than the immaturity this whole issue springs from.

You may ask how it is possible for people to return an amazing product for such an immature reason. I ask, why do you care so much about that in the first place?

Again I just want to correct you over one small detail.

People aren't getting upset, we're laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation. Sure, you can return anything to Apple for any reason as long as it's within whatever time period they specify, but it doesn't mean that the reason isn't ridiculously silly. I'd be red with embarrassment if I walked into the Apple store near me and told them I wanted to return this machine, not because it doesn't work well (and oh, it works well!), not because of the battery life (which is amazing btw), not because of the screen (which I was worried might bother me, coming from a 14 MBP, but it doesn't - the screen is great), or the keyboard (identical to the MBP 14, and a huge step up from the keyboards of a few years past), no... I need to return this because I saw a fingerprint on it, and that upset me, a grown adult.

I'm not asking how it is possible for people to return an amazing product for such an immature reason, I have eyes and ears and am well aware of the incredibly stupid times we're living in. I wouldn't even go so far as to say I care (as in this is something that's important to me, or that I'm passionate about). I'd say I'm laughing. I'm getting entertainment from this. The same way I would if I watched a stand up comedy special on Netflix, or any comedy at all really. It's making me laugh, and when I laugh, I feel good.

Anyone who returns a product over fingerprints is ridiculous. People won’t even see the fingerprints anyways as long as you’re looking at the screen

I can accept that you may be one of those laughing, since you started quoting me defending someone else, not yourself. I still will stand by how i have perceived the OPs posts though, which is where this all started. Absolutely nothing about them reflect humor to any degree. They are negative, curt & myopic.

I still don't really see the point of what you're saying. People have different priorities. It really is just as simple as that. Apple is charging people an arm and a leg for this thing. If people want it to be perfect in every single way imaginable that is their prerogative. Even if the final criteria that needs to be fulfilled is empty aesthetics. BFD.

A lot of people are spending hard earned money on this clearly overpriced device which they intend to keep for years and years. This is an Air laptop being purchased by college students, new professionals, those who will be carrying this in an out of office daily. If they want to be a bit nitpicky and immature with how they expect it to be perfect, that is fine by me.

You are well within your right to laugh at them, but know that that in itself is not the behavior of a grown adult. It is fairly condescending and shows that you are only assessing things from your own personal perspective instead of really trying to understand the many reasons why someone may feel the need to do this.

Either way, I'm really all worn out on this. Really not interested in continuing this inane thread any longer. Let's just agree to disagree. I'm sure we both have much better things to do than have a proxy argument about an opinion that was neither of ours to begin with.
