Are you embarrassed to use the Air in public?

Why on earth would anyone care about the opinion of a total stranger? I mean, they don’t supply our food, shelter, or clothing, and they are not our owner. No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. And your enemy can only work with what you give them.

There’s been an unfortunate amount of negative chatter about the Air lately, and Pro (Max) users in particular (not all of them, of course) often seem eager to prove it shouldn’t even exist. So here’s a question for Air users: have you ever caught yourself, while using your Air in public, feeling a little embarrassed that someone might see you with this so-called “compromise” phone?

Welcome to the world of owning Apple devices, the various groups supporting each type of device all have their little battles between each other. Usually the Intel Mac Pro crowd gets all the vitriol from the Apple Silicon folks and back and forwards it goes...

If someone has an iPhone Air, good for them, lovely looking phone but not quite right for my needs, but perhaps it suits the needs of someone else and good luck to them with their new purchase.

I don’t see why people would/should be ashamed of the air. It definitely isn’t for me, the thinness is impressive but pointless, the screen size is uncomfortable, and the camera is too much of a compromise, but my friend is seriously considering and Air and I still think it would be awesome for him. Also why would you be embarrassed about it or look down on someone for having it? That’s like disliking someone who has a mini

Are you embarrassed to use the iPod touch 7 in public?

I mean maybe some people could be… but not for the iPhone air lmao

It would be rather odd to feel embarrassment in public for having a phone, even a Samsung 😉 though the Air is attracting a lot of looks and comments here in Vietnam. People are quite enamoured with it though I’ve yet to see anyone else with one.

Just saw the new iPhones in person today and the Air was the best looking of them all. The Air is a gorgeous design! My only gripe is the mono speaker, but everything else is beautiful in my opinion. Feels lightweight but very solid, etc.

This post lol can’t believe im replying….. I was embarrassed when I had to use my very old back up iPhone 8 in public during launch week whilst waiting for the Air! 😂

Definitely not embarrassed to take out my naked space black Air out in public!

You’ve made some great jokes about the post. And of course, those jokes and written replies in general emphasise that my thought is completely absurd. Which is a good thing, as it should be.

However, as I’m writing this response, the poll results are as follows:

15.5% (13 people) have answered that they have had such feelings.

There are total of 84 respondents.

Have some answered “yes” just as a joke? Possibly. Or, maybe they really meant it. If so, then my question was relevant, even though, logically speaking, it’s not something that should even be asked, as you so constructively and politely pointed out in your replies…

I was using an iPhone SE3 (looks like the 8) before getting the Air. Absolutely no embarrassment here.

Only gripe is abysmal battery life otherwise I'd gladly keep using it.

My iPhone 8 is battered, it’s gold with a black screen and white home button and the back glass is peeling off lol. I bet your SE3 looks way better!

Lol, that color combo actually sounds pretty cool. 😎

My phones have always been kept in a case so quite likely in mint condition. I find iPhones quite slippery so I get cases for better grip.

Definitely one of the silliest questions ever asked on this forum - why would I feel embarrassed for using the most gorgeous looking iPhone?

All your jokes are really good, but as of writing this, out of 108 respondents, 17.6% (19 people) answered yes. I’m just the messenger. Think about how those respondents might feel when their feelings are being dismissed here.

Who has negative feelings about a phone model. (Incels?)

No clue how this works but clearly isn’t healthy in all seriousness. Pity people who have spent so much time online they become somewhat like an amalgamated version of the lowest denominators they meme off, in their real life.

Tell me how you feel embarrassed using a phone?

This sure is looking like an organized campaign to undermine the new product…
