Ive had issues, but no different than the same issues I have with my Sprint phone(work) or with the Verizon phone I had previously.

I like my service. I've had maybe one or two dropped calls the whole time I've had my iphone 3G and I got it on launch day. The internet is slow sometimes but its way faster than the edge network. I'm in Tampa, fl and not having a problem.

Kansas here. About 60 miles south of Topeka. Barely an Edge network, frequent dropped calls. According to AT&T's site, I'm in a preferred coverage area too.

Two weeks ago, I had to fight with AT&T about some international data roaming that they said I used. I never left the country or Kansas for that matter.

Last week they cut off my "domestic" data roaming because I was hitting too many of the competitors towers. So, my phone is basically neutered.

I'd gladly try any other carrier because honestly, they can't be any worse than AT&T.

So, whoopie for you guys who are finally getting 3G service. I'd just be happy with a strong voice service.

As of lately my AT&T service has been rather weak. I am going to blame it on the recent transaction and addition of MMS, since my wireless service has been very strong up until a few days ago.

Overall AT&T has been doing a very good job with all of the high-bandwidth phones running on their network. It can only get better once it gets worse, remember that.

I am happy with att for the most part. I get solid service in my town and most surrounding areas, but you guys need to get 3G going out here ASAP! I live in Athol,MA which runs along rt. 2, the ONLY highway in north central/western MA. You guys have 3G service in some really rural areas but still only edge/gprs here, you need to put some 3G towers in Athol, Orange, Greenfield, Gardner, and some towns in between. Basically with rt. 2 being the only way to get to Boston from the towns I mentioned, and rt. 2 is being completely remodeled from Greenfield to Boston (and the surrounding area) it is time you guys upgrade us to 3G because that highway gets thousands of commuters during morning and evening rush plus throughout the day.

I want to say yes, but I get way too many dropped calls and other strange network related problems so fully mean it. "Kind of"

Good service most places, except I get absolutely NONE at my house...

LOL. I live in a low area in my neighborhood in Apex, NC and if I stand in one corner of my house, I get 2 bars of 3g. If I walk outside and up the street, I get 4 bars. Everywhere else, good to go.
Overall, very happy with AT&T.

Wichita, KS. I had Verizon for years without a single dropped/failed call, been on AT&T for a couple months now and have had several dropped/failed calls. Signal varies from 0 bars to 5 bars depending on location. I have acceptable service, its Certainly better than t-mobile or cricket here, not as good as Sprint or Verizon.

I'm in San Antonio, TX, on the Northwest side, and I'm happy with my service. I get five bars in my house on 3g all the time.

S. Cali (inland empire)- I too come from Verizon and rarely lost a call...my biggest peeve is there pricing- I dont think I would care about price if they can at least be at par with verizon but I pay more on At&t and drop more calls:rolleyes:
I really hate there texting plan:mad: it goes from $5- for 200txt to $15- 1500 txt- what kind of ******** is that and Im forced to pay the 15 bux cuz I average right under 400 txt a month:mad:

Bottom line... AT&T is lucky to have the Iphone :(

The phone is awesome, but the service sucks. I went from almost no dropped calls with Verizon to multiple a week with AT&t. Verizon clearly has better service, but AT&T has better phones and better customer service.

Here is the real bottom line----->

I just went and looked at pricing on Verizon smartphones for example:

Verizon HTC Touch cost $299.00:

Cheapest Voice Plan (450 minutes) 39.99
Text 500 messages..........................................10.00
Unlimited Data.................................................44.99
Visual Voice Mail................................................3.00
------------------------------------------------$97.98 (before taxes)

iPhone 3GS 16gb cost $199.00
Cheapest Voice Plan (450 minutes)..39.99
Text 1500 messages..........................................15.00
Unlimited Data..................................................30.00
Visual Voice Mail.................................................0.00
-------------------------------------------------$84.99 (before taxes)

So which is the better pricing and with more text and lower initial device costs? Not to mention a better gadget.....

We all know that NY and San Fran have bad ATT service. In Atlanta, however, its great except for East Atlanta village.

I would love to know how you've come to the conclusion that San Fransisco has bad ATT service. I have not had a single problem in San Fransisco proper, north bay, South bay, or east bay areas. Marin County/San Rafael, no problem. Presidio/Fisherman's Wharf, no problem. Every so often I have to do work in Redwood City. No problem there. Hayward, full signal. Vallejo, and in fact, up the entire I-80 corridor home to Sacramento, not a problem.

So how does San Fransisco have bad ATT service?

back to the original question, no problems in Sacramento, my other home in Las Vegas, my SO's parent's place in Kingman, AZ, nor my parent's places in Oklahoma City and Omaha. My dad's farm in Hugo (near my grandparents) gets full bars.

BL.

I'm really happy now. About a month ago they put in a new 3g tower near me so I now get full 3g coverage in my house. I was switching it to edge and wifi while at home now I just leave it on 3g at all times. Now that we have good 3g signal my wife is going to get a 3g capable phone and all our ATT problems should be gone. I wished they had a family data plan though. If they had a family data plan for $40-50 a month my wife could just get an Iphone as well. We can't really justify the $30 a line for the data plan for more than one phone though.

Dude where are you getting your info, the htc touch is 9.99 with a 2yr contract and the Email and Web for smartphone plan is 29.99 which is unlimited (5gb cap). Unlimited data is for tethering. And really the touch isn't something I'd compare to the iphone, maybe the Omnia (49.99), touch diamond/touch pro (99.99) or the touch pro 2 (199.99).

You can't do a comparison using the NO COMMITMENT price vs. subsidized, and you should make sure you know what plan is needed and not just pick the highest one lol. I love my iphone too but don't cheat to make the other guys look bad. Oh and there text prices are almost the same except unlimited (vzw=$5/250, $10/500, $15/1500, $20/5000).

$39.99+$29.99+$10+$3(visual vmail if you really care)= under $83 before tax so basically the same as att. I would still go with att if it was only $65 or $70 for verizon because they dont have the iphone.

AT&T service has been fine for me out here in Niceville Florida. The bummer is that we have no 3G signal. Pensacola about 45 minutes away has had it for some time now.

I call the local at&t and national at&t around every 4 months or so. Every time I call they tell me that 3G will be in our area in about 4 months......

So signal strength great, no drop calls, never had problems with bills or talking to them on the phone, just wish they would get 3G out here

Overall, AT&T isnt the best, however, in my area, it's perfectly fine. Verion has the best overall coverage, but as long as they don't have the iPhone, or even the Bold/Onyx....they aren't seeing my business.

Cupertino. In my condo (2 min away from Apple), I don't even get service. I drop calls all the time around the South Bay Area. AT&T is not reliable for me.

Dude.

I am getting it from http://www.verizonwireless.com/

I am talking about the touch pro 2

I see it is 299.00, but you get a 100.00 online discount making it 199.00. That is WITH a 2-year contract. One problem they are out of stock.

As for rate plans here you go:

individual rate plans

Where is your 29.99 plan?

As for data here you go:

PDA/Smartphone Data

So where you getting your info?

In Central California (Fresno/Clovis) my iPhone service has been great since 2G release. Before I got my 2G I had a BlackJack II on 3G and it was spotty. I really was hesitant going from the 2G to 3GS but I haven't had any issues with 3G, it's been adequately fast and available. On my last trip up to Oakland I had full 3G reception the entire way.

The only complaint I have is in Tahoe my sister and her husband, who have Verizon, were able to get service and I had to go find a spot to get reception. Not sure what that is about. They do live in Reno so maybe that affects it? Anyhow, if AT&T can get their mountain coverage improved it would be icing on the cake.

I've only had the iPhone for 24 hours and don't call people that often, but no problems so far with call quality and 3G speeds. I had no trouble tethering it over 3G to my Macbook for over an hour. I heard from other AT&T users here in the Provo, Utah area that their service went from nearly useless to really good within the last month.
