I came from an X to the XS and honestly, it's not that big of a deal for me. The "Gold" is really more of a smoky gold than a gold. And the screen is absolutely no different than the X as far as size goes. So right now I'm on the fence about it. Can I still return it after I've activated it to the Apple store?
You have 14 days to return. The camera is a pretty significant improvement if that matters.

I like it. I am an Android big screen guy and really like the size, feel, etc. The only question is the reception. I need more testing to see if it is as bad as some are reporting or not. I need it to be good or I will sadly have to return the phone.

I got the XS MAX in gold then decided to swap it for the XS MAX in space gray since my local apple store had stock. My first space gray had a scratch in the top out of the box, so exchanged it, the second space gray one had a stuck vibrate switch, exchanged it, finally third one is perfect. What an odyssey!

Wow! That's great that you were able to do that!

There’s no way I’d have went from X to simply an XS. If not for the Max and bigger screen there isn’t a good reason at all to upgrade.

XS MAX--->Missing the Button and trying to learn (Create new habits) how to navigate by swiping jesters is my only frustration...I'm liking it overall though after playing with it since Friday!

My main dilemma, I can't find a Rubber Case that is Smooth/Slim & Grippy!

Otterbox Pursuit for the Xs Max is both slim and grippy. $80 for the case alone but I've had my iphone 6+ in an Otterbox since the day I got it years ago and it still looks brand new.

As for how I like my Gold Xs Max 256GB? I love it! FaceID works lightning fast, apps open quickly and the screen/resolution is better than my LG 4K TVs.

I won't be upgrading again for a while ($1350) so I'm glad I waited for the A12 chip. I think it will be good for me for the next 3-4 years.

I preordered the XS Max from the X but ultimately decided I didn't love the bigger size of the phone. I went on Saturday and exchanged for an XS and what a freaken nightmare that was. I waited 40 minutes in line, no biggie, I understand it was close to launch so this is totally fine. However once I got in there it took another 2.5 hours because the guy that was helping me had NO idea what the iUP program is or how to return and re-buy a phone and he kept having to walk away to ask his managers. To the point where he handed me his phone and asked me to look at it to see if I could find the iUP program on it. It was a DISASTER. Finally when he went to ask a manger a question I followed him and spoke to the manager directly. I don't blame the kid, he might be new but his manager just kept shooing him away essentially until I talked to him. Really ridiculous.

Anyway love the XS and the camera is spectacular. However I am finding that I have a slight shift in color from almost greenish to pinkish as I move the phone up and down on a white background, I know this is an issue with OLED sometimes but my X screen was PERFECT. Driving me nuts in texting but I really do NOT want to go through the process of returning and re-buying again but so I might just live with it.

Hmm, a little pricey to merely live with it, no?
Albeit, I’ve been there before...

I agree. I was thinking of ordering another one through the upgrade program and picking it up tonight and keeping the better of the two. I just don't know how that affects me handing in my old X, I don't want it to screw the loan up and they think I'm keeping both phones.

How has the battery been on the XS so far vs. X?

How has the battery been on the XS so far vs. X?

Night and day difference. I've been using the XS the same as I would my X at work and I'm at 94%, I would usually be around 80% by this point. LOVING the battery upgrade for sure.

Check the Apple Silicone cases, very minimal, good protection, yet nicely grippy. The leather ones are slick to me.

are you happy with your new iPhone Xs, have you had any problems with your new device? I’ve had my Xs Max for 3 hours now and loving it, the screen is beautiful and the nectarine case looks great on the device
I am very happy with my 512 GB sim free gold XsMax as only “512” GB Xs”Max” is the most “true” and “complete” ‘Max (maximum)’ with maximum size and the best newest maximum storage. Fortunate for me and others who can own this truest, ultimate and maximum storage Xs”Max”

Been running with the XS since Fri 21st and i came from an X. I can honesty say i can't notice any difference whatsoever. Not one. I was blown away when i went from a 7 to an X, but from an X to an XS, nada ! I know its faster, but in the real world, opening apps, or the camera, or facetime (which i was hoping was going to be faster, i can't tell) maybe i shouldn't of upgraded to iOS 12 on my old X a few days before, as that seems to have had more of an impact.

edit ** ok, so i thought i'd add one thing ! the changing of f.stop is nice in portrait mode. So not nada, but anyway, if you can get an X at a decent price, don't feel bad about it.

I'm glad people are enjoying their new phones. I'm waiting for the XR, wish it was out already. I think I'll find the 6.1" screen just right while still being pocketable. OLED vs. LCD means nothing to me.

you're not the only one. im going to switch to the xs. the max is pretty heavy and the size is alright but with the extra tall screen, i feel like i'm playing finger gymnastics all day.

Same boat. I loved my 7 Plus, but I loved my X even more. Now that I'm back to the biggest screen with the XS Max, it seems to be just a smidge too much. I love the phone and the extra screen size is nice, but not a necessity and the benefit does not outweigh the drawbacks of how heavy this thing is and how much less pocketable it is. Gonna give it this week and hope some apps get updated, but may take a trip to the Apple store on Friday to pick up a XS.

It's more bronze-y gold... why did they get rid of rose gold :(. I wish they kept the same pretty gold as iPhone 8. TT__TT

I've found the camera on my XS Max is leaps and bounds better than my X's camera, especially in low light. Worth the upgrade for that reason alone for me personally. Add in faster network speeds, adjustable depth of field, improved water resistance, better speakers, better battery life, and faster processor and it's a done deal for me, although I will admit many of those things are not very noticeable in daily usage.

Went from the 8+, took the loss and went X.
X to the max and loving it.

Became disappointed in the 8+ when I saw the wasted space compared to the X.

The max surely hasn’t disappointed in all aspects.
