Mine jumped from 99 to 97 after the keynote. I know it’ll still last until 2020.

My 7 Plus is still on 96% on its original battery! It's almost 3 years old... I think yours will survive quite a bit beyond 2020 if you need it to.

I used to upgrade every iteration, probably up until the 6. It was a great deal to sell an iPhone with the carrier subsidy. Once those days ended, I've been dragging my feet on upgrading when an 8 works perfectly. With kids, I am interested in the camera upgrades, but will probably wait for next year's version.

Sticking with my 8. The big focus on the 11 is video/photo, neither of which I use. 5 photos and 0 videos on my 8. Battery lasts all day, emails still open, texts and phone calls still go out. Don't plan to upgrade until the battery won't hold a charge or they restrict new apps from working on the latest iOS version the 8 can run.

I have a X and I'm considering the upgrade because I want to use my phone for more videography. I was planning on buying a Moment super-wide lens but the 11 Pro has me tempted. I have three reservations:

1) The super-wide lens on the 11 Pro has an aperture of f2.4, which tells me it's not going to be great indoors.

2) I'm not exactly feeling flush right now, so could do with keeping hold of the funds.

3) Even if I do upgrade now, I'm sure I'm going to want the 2020 release, especially if it has USB-C. I'm hoping the trade-in value of the 11 Pro makes that viable.

I am sticking with my XS Max another year. I love all the camera upgrades on the 11 Pro/Pro Max, but I would rather wait until 2020 when 5G, USB-C and possibly FaceID and TouchID will be available.

Pretty sure I'm sticking with my XS for another year for one main reason:

1. I've got the 256Gb XS, and just paid it off after buying it in July...and I'm married and it's easier to put up with a year old phone than it is with a wife who will fuss @ me if I upgrade. ;)

It will definitely last beyond 2020. The reception on my XS Max is horrible. I now have to carry my 7+ to swap the sim out for certain areas I’m in that have no service on my XS Max. It’s beyond frustrating that my $1200+ phone’s reception sucks. If the reception on the 11 Pro Max is better, I’m jumping ship quick.

No “upgrade” for me this year. My 256gb xs max is awesome. The 11 just doesn’t impress me, so I’m going to wait it out until 2020.

Anyone deciding not to upgrade to the 11/11 Pro? I currently have the XS Max and was going to upgrade to a 11 Pro Max but just cannot justify the upgrade. I am not interested in the camera improvements and apart from the cool new Midnight Gree, can't see a reason to upgrade. I still have 12 months left of my AppleCare Plus, and have a ton of cases for my XS Max.

Upgrading will just mean more expense, AC+, cases etc and when the phone is in a case you can't see the colour anyway!

I've been back and forward, ordered one, then cancelled. Think I'm making the right choice to stick with my XS Max for another year. Just wondering if anyone is thinking of the same?
I agree 100%. Skipping the 11. Have xs max 256gb(it’s great) and it doesn’t make sense for me to change right now.

Was up Friday morning trying to decide on an iPhone 11 or Pro Max... but then ordered this instead.

Going to stick with my iPhone XS Max for another year and wait for the 2020 iPhone refresh. Really not interested in any of the iPhones this year.

So I said I wouldn't move to the iPhone 11...but honestly, this will be the ONE reason I do move, if I do. I won't say the reception in my XS is *terrible*; as it is, I live in the sticks, so I get one to two bars of reception. However, my iPhone 8 never gave me 'no service' and as often as not, the XS does.

If my wife's iPhone 11 gets better service, I'll likely switch to it.

I suppose it's an acceptable alternative. ;)

The larger battery and brighter screen really appeal to me, but I’m not upgrading. I don’t think I’ve hit less than 20% on my XS Max more than 3 times. Even when I wish I had a brighter screen, it’s only in certain outdoor conditions that maybe last a few minutes at most. And I really don’t take that many photos at all. Not to mention, resale values have decreased significantly over the past month. I’m happy to keep my XS Max another year, and I hope to keep it another 1, 2, 3, or 4 years if it continues to run this great.

Your battery is a champion! My 7 plus had a new battery at the beginning of the year after owning from release. It's now at 92% maximum capacity and doesn't get me though the whole day. Despite being well looked after the touch ID is getting worse no matter how many times I update finger prints. Also I get wifi lockup/drop out several times a day. I feel a little forced to accept the iphone 11 as I can't use OLED models. Considering 8 plus refurb from Apple but it's dead money really. I still prefer the 7 plus design, screen ratio and resolution over the XR/11.

XS Max is easily a three year phone, especially for the price it cost. Then you'll be into the 2021 S model of the redesigned iphone coming next year ? giving you the model with the improvements and kinks worked out.

I wonder how many of these people who said they wouldn’t upgrade went ahead and did... ? I did, but that’s because I’m on a self-imposed 2 year cycle and my 8’s battery was shocking.

If you always want to wait for the next "big" thing, you will end up never buying anything.
I personally upgrade every 2nd year, bought an iPhone X, bought a 11 Pro now.

I like to wait for the next big revision, not wait forever. So there are better times to wait for a phone purchase in my opinion. Same thing with automobiles where a model might be the same from 2010-2019, and a new body style is coming for 2020. In that case I would wait.
