Yes sir.

My Day 1 iPhone X ( 256 GB ) still performs how it did when I took it out of the box on launch day.

Sitting comfortably on it original battery at 94% capacity. This phone is fantastic. Still silky smooth and fluid.

I will skip this year as well. Next year though, that notchless iPhone 11S is going to be a problem. And we will see all of these folks who upgraded to the 11 feel it. Lol

Notch, no 5G or any next gen feature at all. Minor camera update. This year is lemming year only.

Anyone serious about photography would be waiting for real in-depth camera reviews. Not that many serious photogs use an iPhone for night photography anyway.

I was so sure I was going to skip but I ended up getting a 256 GB space grey pro (I don’t like that name), well I look at it like 5G won’t really be doing that much for me where I live which is rural uk. Building out the 5G network in the UK is gonna take time and I really don’t need the speeds on a phone just yet I’d rather the phones and the modems go though their growing pains like 4G phones did.

I’m disabled and I don’t travel that much anymore and I wouldn’t want to buy the first revision of possibly a new handset design if there is one or the first revision or even second revision of a new 5G modem in 2020. I’d rather wait for the second version of a 5G iPhone along with whatever hardware fixes that may need to be put into place. The camera, screen and battery life increase will do me just fine for the next two years along with AppleCare and after a really good deal selling my XS and a cheque I wasn’t expecting the new phone cost me £660 all in.

2020 will be a special year. I will wait until then before I consider upgrading from my iPhone SE.

For tech yes, but for design? Not certain.

2020 is an S model year, not common to get a significant design change on S years.

I have to say I don’t see 2020 as an S model year at all, the X and the XS and the pro (still an awful name) all share the same body design, so unless they go for four years with the stainless steel band and the glass back, next year should be a redesign of some sort I would’ve thought, bringing it more into line with the iPad Pros possibly. This year is as I see it is The XSS year but just with a new name.

People keep saying this but I don't see anything really coming up.

All people are saying is Design change and USB-c?

Rumour has it that Apple will redesign the iPhone in 2020, and I am looking forward to what they do. I hope they take inspiration from the iPhone 4/5 and return to that boxy, squared design like they have with the latest iPad Pros.

I am more hyped about a redesign and the rumoured "smaller" 5.4" premium iPhone than anything else. The current 5.8" iPhone XS/11 Pro are just a tad too big IMO, and if the 5.4" did happen, it would be the perfect size. Not too big, not too small, just right.

Yeah the 11's design does murky the waters with the design year convention - it really does look like an X, though Apple can piggyback on the triple camera box feature as the design innovation. I see they're using huge closeups of that exclusively in some marketing.

If they simply removed the notch and added all the next-gen tech then it'd be enough for me. Notch gone, 5G, massive battery life, brighter screen and a camera that works in the dark (well will see how well the camera really does once professional cam sites test it) and you've pretty much got the perfect phone that you'd be satisfied with for a solid 3 to 4 years.

The problem with phones is that they're always had some issue that was unsatisfactory. I feel like we're very close to the stage where it's been nailed. Waterproofing scratchproofing, download speeds, amazing cameras and video etc. Very very close.

Soon I think people will be able to livestream their action footage over 5G with a phone in high res and it'll be super good.

I have to say with the state of the pound here in the UK and uncertainties going forward, I dread to think how much the iPhone will cost next year so with the discounts I managed to get this year it seemed like a good idea to grab the screen size I like with the extra battery and the couple of extra features like the brighter screen, better camera and longer battery life which gives me hopefully a better margin of safety for when I’m out in my wheelchair and I might need to use the phone if I get in trouble, the phone is a real lifeline for me.

I think next year will see a new more boxy design, probably more like the 5S possibly, who knows Apple don’t really seem to be pushing the envelope designwise that much anymore. I still think the 4/4S was probably the best design they ever came up with personally and if it is a new model I’ve learnt buying revision one of a new design of any tech product can be risky. It’s always best to wait till the next version, well that’s how I see it but at the end of the day each to their own.

5G will definitely change the landscape, I’m looking forward to seeing what it will bring and not necessarily phone wise because 4G speeds are pretty good for my needs at the moment. Now 5G tablets would be more fun, and the possibilities with smart cities self driving cars etc it’s going to be an amazing time, but also it will take time to build the networks. Also with different versions of 5G, and in the UK uncertainties about using Huawei’s tech I think 2021 will be more realistic, but once again I’m still unsure of 5G usage in rural areas, 4G is still going to be where the penetration at maybe 800 MHz will do really well.

Well that's the thing really, aside from play around with the edges and back materials (which get covered with the cases anyway) there's not much room for design any longer. I think people just want an unimpeded screen without noticeable bezels or protruding cameras. We're pretty much there already. I think all the significant design changes have been had. 5 years from now the iPhone might look pretty much the same as the XS Max...

Unless the whole folding phone war kicks off :D

2020's phones could easily start at 1100 for the smaller Pro. Pro max 1200 for base model too.

Then you add that to everything else that's going to get more expensive here.

What scares me is that we will end up like Norway or some crap. Everything costs a small fortune, even basic groceries.

Maybe you will end up with a folding tablet that turns into the equivalent of the old tabloid newspapers... I really hope that doesn’t happen. :D

iPhone X 256 here. I really wanted the max model last year, but couldn’t justify upgrading. This year, I pulled the trigger for the pro max 256. I love camera updates, even though I’m not a “pro”.

The rumors for next year almost made me not, but after the whole “this years will have pencil support, revers wireless charging” rumors turned out to be bogus at the last minute, I’m not holding my breath for next year.

I don’t think next year will be as big of a change as everybody thinks. 5G is still so limited, not to mention the power draw, I think it’s well within the realm of possibility Apple waits another year. Unless there is dramatic increase in coverage within the next 6-8 months. Everybody complained when the OG iPhone released without 3G. Apple waited until the following year to include it, and the battery life was awful. I upgraded to the 3gs just for the extra battery. It wasn’t until iPhone 5 that they included LTE support.

I don’t foresee the notch going anywhere....I think at best it will be smaller....but really, what extra functionality does that really provide?

120 hz display?....I would be willing to bet a new iPhone that it doesn’t make an appearance. The only one currently is the Asus Rog 2 which is marketed as more of a gaming phone. I have a hard time seeing the value of such a screen in a cellphone.

I’m betting 2021 as the year people will be waiting for.

Of course if I’m wrong, I may just have to upgrade again. I will say, the battery life and camera were enough to get me this year.

Is this possible? I've heard of people buying a new iPhone using their credit card and then when they go and pick it up they ask to go onto the Apple Upgrade Programme. Apple then refunds your credit card and enrols you onto the programme. Anyone know if this is right?

I talked a lot of $#!+ in previous threads that I was going to get the new iPhone but I decided against. I am going to hold onto my XR. What I will get is the new Apple Watch Series 5 for the health features.

Lol, that was the thinking I had , I was sure I was not going to upgrade my phone but I was going to splurge on a new Apple Watch. And here I am on pre-order day, and I pre-ordered one.

Maybe Apple just needs to update one product a year, that way it makes it easy to decide which product to buy

I'm not relishing this either, USB C in many cases has a nasty habit of getting loose over time - I've read of people with MacBooks where this even compromises the connection. Lightning is a really solid design (and yeah I've got a drawer full of cables at this point too!)
My MacBook Pro with USB-C has loose ports. The charging cable just slips out with very little effort required.

I will skip every year until they bring back the iPhone 5 design or move forward with the 8 design.

Anyone deciding not to upgrade to the 11/11 Pro? I currently have the XS Max and was going to upgrade to a 11 Pro Max but just cannot justify the upgrade. I am not interested in the camera improvements and apart from the cool new Midnight Gree, can't see a reason to upgrade. I still have 12 months left of my AppleCare Plus, and have a ton of cases for my XS Max.

Upgrading will just mean more expense, AC+, cases etc and when the phone is in a case you can't see the colour anyway!

I've been back and forward, ordered one, then cancelled. Think I'm making the right choice to stick with my XS Max for another year. Just wondering if anyone is thinking of the same?

I still have a X and skipped last year so I’m upgrading this year. I know next year is the big year, but I’d rather upgrade now since my X while still runs great, I notice it lagging a bit now. If I had a XS or MAX though, I probably would skip, although it’d be hard to pass up the camera features and battery life.

It never made much sense to go for a yearly upgrade. Even more with the device costs of $1000 and more. So just relax.

I’m still on a 6s and will upgrade if the Xs drops below the 600€ mark cos i finally want to use dual sim and send my second line 5s in retirement

Bit undecided. Have a X, great phone but not a great battery. The alleged battery improvements on the 11 interest me the most. Could make some use of the low light improvements but not loads.
It would be a 11 Pro I would be moving to, undecided re colour between space grey and midnight green - need to see them in store.
