Are you upgrading to the 11/11Pro/Max?

Honestly, $60 a month sounds like way too much for the Max. I know these loans are interest free, but that would be difficult for me to want to pay something monthly like that if I wasn’t enjoying the phone. To me, I’d say the Max is more of a overly-glorified iPhone Plus, just with added aesthetic’s with the glass back/stainless steel bands. The only direct advantage is having the larger display, but the battery life is equally impressive. But I would like to see more in terms of what this phone has potential to offer in the future.
You should see the pricing in the UK for the Max on standard 2 year contracts. It’s around £60 ($76) a month for the cheaper deals with limited data etc. Probably why it’s getting it’s backside kicked by the XR lol.

I don’t skip cycles. Instead, I only buy when I have to. Totally different mindset.
I would still be using my 6 Plus if the battery didn't burst a few months ago. I moved up to an 8 Plus in the hopes that I could skip over the whole notch phase.

Glad someone pointed this out. My thoughts exactly. It is popular to complain these days.
Everything is awesome and nobody's happy. They should go back to the Palm Pilot days for a reminder of how things used to be with gadgets. Gadgets that got high praise for things like a color screen.

I am not planning to upgrade my Xs Max this year. I am quite happy with my Max....it does everything I need it to do and then some. A slightly better camera is not enough to make me upgrade. I Haven't seen any new features in the rumors so far that would make me want to upgrade to be honest.

I think the 11r is going to be really sweet. Though I would love to have the wide angle lens, the cost difference between the successor to the Max and the 11R are probably going to be too much for me to stomach even if they change the OLED so I can use it.

If the OLED is changed, I of course would tentatively consider it, but once the 11R gets the second zoom lens that’s really going to be enough for most people, myself included in on that, to happily settle in on the lower cost model.

The digital zoom on my current Xr hasn’t been too shabby, after all. A second lens for zoom would just be icing on the already nice cake. The size of the Xr/11r is also just right for me.

I’m a little sad Japan Display is struggling and it looks to be the end of the line for their awesome LCD displays.

My comparison may be old but it's still relevant because the iphone is a direct descendant of the palm pilot. Notes, contacts, email, apps, even internet-- all on a touch screen. We were trying to achieve the same things then as we are now. The difference today is that people seem vastly more dissatisfied, as if todays tech has somehow gotten worse.

I see your point. I just think it has become really popular to be unhappy, always complaining. Tech isn't advancing as fast as it did back in the 2000s or 1990s imo. That said, no one is forcing us to buy new phones. I'm planning on keeping my phone for 3+ years ... for the first time in the history of me ever owning a smartphone. So don't get me wrong, the lack of features that scream BUY ME NOW has a part to play, but also the cost. I'm sure if my bank account was full of $$$ I'd upgrade every year. But when a loaded out iPhone Xs Max costs what it does, I'll hang onto it for awhile. lol.

Held onto my iPhones on average 1.7 years. Keeping my Xs Max for 3+. A year almost down so far.

That said, the iUP makes it really easy to upgrade. Wish I had kept my 8+ last year. <cough>.

I'm so ready to upgrade from my 7 plus after seeing the sea of Max's around me at work. The almost no bezel screen grabs me everytime. I'm hoping very much they improve the PWM this time. Oh, and have better quality control with the steel band glass sandwich.

I know in my head it's always better to get the S year version and this will be the 2020 model (which may actually be a redesign) but my 7 plus is getting a little twitchy, the camera is poor and it has very little olephobic coating (if any).

I seem to have switched from a 2 year cycle to a 3 year cycle. Nothing coming in 2019 sounds that interesting to me, but if the 2020 iPhones have a design something like this (i.e. iPad Pro like design with a shrunk down notch/hole punch) I might be looking to upgrade in 2020.

Seems I'm like you ... my iPhone history is 3gs, 4, 5, 6 then X. See no compelling reason to upgrade 'til at least 2020.

I'm completely IN for 2019. I'm still rocking a 7+ so I am over due. Ready for OLED, Wireless Charging, USB-C.

I’d say USB-C will be 2020 as someone else mentioned, _if_ anything 2019, Apple might provide an adapter for it, but not truly adopt USB-C quite yet.

Same here.. mine is pixel 3a...

If they improve the reception... Wifi range..LTE issues ..i might get it if price is right haha...

For now im rocking pixel 3a ...
Just got mini 5 for gaming.

Actually just sold the Pixel, back on an iPhone 7+ now. It's running really well so all is good.

Skipping, I dont use the camera as much as some maybe, also with 5G rolling out and USB-C on the horizon I think my XS can wait till 2020. Well I hope so as the original is being replaced as the ambient light sensor failed and now the phone is burning though a full charge in half a day, I didn't know a failed ambient light sensor could cause that (phone brightness turned right down! So 2020/2021 but the camera is not worth paying over £1000 a year later in my world anyway. To be honest no phone is worth that much to me and coming from the 7 to the XS didn't give me the wow factor at all I was expecting, yes its faster but the 7 wasn't slow.
