I'd say wait at least until next week is over. If anything I feel next week is our biggest bet and the most probable release window for this month.

Yea I'm going to wait until next week because I've already waited for weeks. Thing is that as of now I don't have a home machine so I'm relegated to bringing my work laptop home with me and browsing the web. I need some iLife in my life!

I hope it takes longer then 1-2 weeks. I am waiting for my student loan check(s) coming in so I can buy my MBP.

I am going to sell my 24" Alu iMac and want to sell it for as much as possible.

Does the price depreciate overnight with a refresh?

I would definitely say so, it depreciates if it is a substantial update.
 
There will be no updates this year. You have to wait.

Wait until next year. Wait. Keep waiting - just hoping it'll happen now, is not going to make it happen. You can't make it happen. You can however wait. So wait. Just wait. Eventually, if you wait, the update will happen, until one day it won't because they'll discontinue a given model category. At that point, it doesn't make sense to keep waiting. But for now, it makes sense to wait. Waiting is the best strategy for now, because you can't will anything into existence, you can only wait, and wait patiently. So wait, but don't cross your fingers, cause it'll cut off your blood supply and your fingers will fall off before Apple updates their line up. Wait passively, not actively. Wait in a relaxed, non-committal way. Don't wait with your hand out, you'll get tired. Don't wait bent over clutching your ankles - it's not dignified. Don't pretend not to care - don't wait with a smile on your face... that won't work, cause your smile will freeze into your face by the time Apple gets around to updating and you'll look like the Joker. Wait with an impassive face, like Jabba the Hut. Wear an inscrutable face, so you don't reveal how much you suffer, cause it only makes the update go slower. A watched pot never boils. Don't watch, just wait. Wait philosophically, like Buddha. All good things happen to people who wait. How do you explain my order being on hold from apple for a week now? And how do you explain why they won't give me a reason for this delay?

I love the post, but you sir are wrong. Don't ask how I know, but... I know. Trust me.....just trust me.

Big week next week for both Apple and Microsoft, it will be interesting to watch it all play out.

Because Apple is quitting the electronic business. Next Tuesday you will see Jobs say we are the new Apple Financial. Apparently selling money is more profitable than selling computers.

right. this week and last week we've seen NOTHING. At least for the rumors last March we heard everything, specs, etc and even the exact day when they were to be released! This time we have nothing..

So I'm not giving out any hope that we will see anything next week. But still just a little hope left that we'll see something next Tuesday. I'm about to order a C2D iMac and by the time it gets here next Tuesday, we'll know of new macs or not.

I'd say they have until the last Tuesday in October (the 27th). If we don't see them by the end of the month, then I don't think we'll see any new product updates.

But if by some chance we do see updates oh...say...next week. Then I am going to laugh very hard at certain posters on this thread :)

The shipping delays, the leaked Google ad, the rumors of updated machines since frikkin' July, the fact that we've reached the end of the typical product cycle - it all points to an update very soon. A minor update, but an update nonetheless.
 
I can definitively state that if there is no announcement of a new iMac by December 31, 2009, there will be no new iMacs this year..... Old Gasport is never wrong....

I'm waiting too and I keep checking nervously the AppleStore almost every hour. But today I realized the last update was very disappointing. It came 11 months after the previous one, and all prices were up 100 euros!!! OK, some minor improved specs but still, it was no big delight at all.
And here we are, waiting for the new upgrade, hoping specs to be better, prices to be lower, and most of all, that it happens now. But it's quite possible it won't happen before march 2010!
Boy we're a bunch of masochists and the PC guys have every reason to laugh at us. Apple makes so much money now, they don't care about us loyal customers anymore.
If there's no update before the end of the month, I think I'll just skip the iMac and buy a new big screen from the PC world instead. :mad:
 
beginning of september... maybe next tuesday..... the following monday for sure... nope in 2 weeks because the stars will align better then... first week in october.... right before win7 launch - right after win7 launch... has to be before christmas... ad infinitum!


it's really no different that the guy who never actually gets a computer because he is so worried that after he buys one the a) price will drop or b) something better will be launched...

STICK IT TO THE MAN! JUST GO AND GET SOMETHING. AMAZON OFFERS A 30 DAY RETURN POLICY AND NO TAX, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT?
