beginning of september... maybe next tuesday..... the following monday for sure... nope in 2 weeks because the stars will align better then... first week in october.... right before win7 launch - right after win7 launch... has to be before christmas... ad infinitum!

it's really no different that the guy who never actually gets a computer because he is so worried that after he buys one the a) price will drop or b) something better will be launched...

STICK IT TO THE MAN! JUST GO AND GET SOMETHING. AMAZON OFFERS A 30 DAY RETURN POLICY AND NO TAX, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT?

Says the one who CREATED this thread. Bought a Mac Pro and hoping he
made the right call to justify his decision.

:)

My guess is if we don't see them by October 20 we don't see them this year.
I think October 27.

One thing that has bothered me was the TONS of rumors and related update articles about two weeks ago and now ... nothing :(

Next week or bust?
I think this usually happens before releases. I would expect the next set of rumors a few days before to the night before the actual release.

What if I bought a new imac/mac mini NOW, and when the new ones come out, sell the ones I just bought to my family member who wants a mac and just pay a slight difference in the new one?

You may not end up paying any difference at all and might make a little pocket change if the new mini debuts at a lower price point. :D

I was thinking of buying an iMac online, then by the time it actually arrived I would know if they made new iMacs or not..So I could just return it without opening and buy a new one.. Of course if Apple doesn't release anything by next Tuesday, that plan would not be great...but I need a computer anyway.

If you go to Dell, HP, Toshiba, Acer or any other computer manufacturer selling new notebooks with Core i7 processors, they aren't shipping until the end of the month...so even if Apple announced new iMacs, MacBooks, and Mac minis tomorrow, they wouldn't be shipping for a few weeks because they are getting an ample supply to the assembly lines.

Folks, the updates really are just around the corner. (trust me)

If you can wait, wait. If you absolutely can't, then buy one now. But don't come complaining when the new one is announced later this month...

(yes, the new iMacs will be announced in October)

Yep, new product rumors come in three waves:

1 - Leaks from 'creative' people involved in the design and development stage.

These come months to years before launch and are pretty rare - Apple will generally know who blabbed when there are only 23 people in on the secret.

2 - Leaks from manufacturing

These come a month before product launch - factory hands, manufacturing execs with journo friends, all of whom talk when production starts in their facilities.

3 - Leaks from marketing and sales channels

These come 3-4 days before launch, when the detailed info is rolled out to the global sales and marketing staff. Tens of thousands of retail staff (and their managers) all know what's happening and start talking.

We are currently between stage 2 and 3. The factory people have told us everything they know and are busy stockpiling new machines. The marketing and sales people haven't been informed yet (well, not fully informed) so haven't much to tell. However, that can change real quick.

They're really trying to run the previous versions dry to make room for the new huh? I've never in my life heard of technology and electronics such as these so high in demand, that its causing delays. :(

Just a general observation after skimming this thread...

Some of you guys seriously can't wait a couple of weeks for the new iMacs and are going to buy one now? After the new one comes out you're going to be annoyed every time you go to your "old" one and constantly say to yourself "man, I should have waited two stupid weeks".

To wait a few days for a faster iMac, possibly cheaper, and with the latest design is totally worth it.

This is coming from someone who bought a 17" MBP only to see the newer one come out 5 weeks later. It drove me crazy that I didn't do my research (and this was before I discovered this site and the buyer's guide) and was impatient.

Didn't someone say release on 10/15? 7 days before Windows 7? If it's not TODAY, then it's Tuesday and that is it.

I would be guessing at the 20th, but I am starting to come round to the conclusion that this is all hype and nothing will be seen till next year.

God hope I am wrong as I would have been waiting the past 4 weeks for nothing

I thought this too for a little bit but people have been telling me something is going to happen soon...so i'm going to try to stick it out this weekend without a computer and see how it goes by Tuesday, because I'm assuming nothing will happen today.

But then in a couple of more months we'll have Light Peak! And because we bough an iMac, there is no way we can add a card to get it.

Minis too or just imacs?

0 days left. It is now 7 days before Windows 7.
Where on earth are the new iMacs.

Doubt anything is getting released before 2010 ...

Unless Apple is stuck waiting for new intel inside (i5/i7), holding off until 2010 would be a poor decision with the holidays and Windows 7 around the corner. Not to mention the iMac would be almost year old outdated hardware.

If there's an update this year, then will it be the next week, otherwise it becomes a lot odd timeline for Apple. I go contrary to what many say and think it is a perfect time to launch new Macs next week to remove the focus from Windows 7. People talking that the press will not show up in Cupertino, but you kidding? The press would rather go for Apple than for Microsoft 7, trust me.

Unibody came exactly at this time last year, and it was just the right time - by next week, something needs to happen - Otherwise, I fear that it will be too late to launch something. Then we have to wait until next year instead.

Then, Apple must sent out the inivation today or tomorrow at least, if it becomes an event next week - as I think it is. It must be event if they are inciting against Microsoft and the launch mass of new things.

But I'm beginning to give up hope. For the first time in my life, I really have much cash and are willing to spend their money on a pretty good Mac that will work for years to come, but nothing happens.

It is frustrating for me. And certainly for many others. But it starts some new rumors pop up so maybe it's something around the corner, when we least expect it - I hope so.

Please Apple, please (it sounds that I was talking to a dog, but I really pray to god Jobs that something happens next week.)
