You can't use iTunes radio unless you have a US iTunes account. What does iTunes Radio have to do with free songs on iTunes?

There aren't usually free songs on iTunes - the only ones I've ever seen are the featured "Song of the week" shown on the front page of the Music section in iTunes.

thanks for the reply

Last few days I've been on iOS 7

1. I am new to i Tunes radio ...never used it before in _any_ iOS

2. I was told to click on the music app to go to iTunes radio

3. I tapped on the music radio and that took me to iTunes ...not radio, but itunes

4. I have nothing to pay, so I need to test

5. I was wondering IF there was something free to test

6. hence my question

hope that clarifies

7. If that is something ONLY for a US account then I have to give up .... but are you sure ?

What?

Yes, you MUST (as of now) have a US iTunes account (and I think Canadian, too? not sure) to use iTunes radio. If you don't have a US account, there is no way to access iTunes Radio.

If you have a US iTunes account, you open the music app, and in the bottom bar there will be a tab that says "Radio." You click this, and it opens up to the iTunes Radio page in the Music app.

If you're being redirected to the iTunes Store, you are clicking the wrong thing and/or do not have access to iTunes Radio.

iTunes Radio is free. There is no way to test it without having access to it, and it has nothing to do with free songs in iTunes.

I see no blue dots next to my recently updated apps, since the day after I updated. I never know something has been updated until I check the app store app and look at updates.

What gives?

It should tell you in Notification Centre if apps have been updated (as well as the blue dots). For me it shows in "All" under App Store. Plus, the dots disappear as soon as you tap their icon, so if you don't notice them and open the app or click one of their notifications, you won't see its been updated on the home screen.

I still dislike the dots as they mean not the full app name can be displayed. Surely theres a better way?

Sorry, should have posted this here instead of creating a new thread so I might be losing my mind but on my iPad3 before updating to 7 I could swear when I opened my smartcover it displayed my wallpaper photo with the day, date etc. but now on 7 when I open the cover the lock code screen is displayed and I have to cancel it to get to my wallpaper photo. Is this a 7 change or am I missing some setting on my iPad? Thanks so much.

Iphone 5, iOS 7, Mob Safari 'reader' does NOT increase font size !! pl help !!

Sorry I should have posted this question here, instead of starting a separate thread . the question is as follows :

>>>>>>>>>>>>

I use iPhone 5. I have moved to iOS 7.0.3 . All legit, NO jailbreak

My old eyes need bigger font , especially for reading web pages

The Mobile (iPhone) safari , 'reader' on iOS 7 safari, does not seem to have its own native font size increase button

I am told to go to the iPhone settings - main settings on home screen, increase font size meaning, increase the general font size on ALL apps and places , which is not what is intended

Still even IF I have set the font to the max, the reader app size is not big enough

any tips / tricks would be most appreciated

TIA

it does tell me in notification center but I would rather the blue dots so I can tell just by looking at them. They don't appear at all.

I have a 'stupid' question to do with the 'background refresh' function of iOS7.

I have this feature turned on, however, I have noticed that the apps which appear in the list here, do not include Facebook and Twitter?

Is there an option somewhere to have Facebook and Twitter apps refresh in the background?

Nio they don't. To my knowledge, you can't until the debs implement the functionality.

both of these background refresh...

....I don't think they do because whenever I open up my Facebook app, it briefly shows all the old posts before it then starts to load up the current posts.

The same goes for my Twitter app (I use Tweetbot) - it doesn't refresh the timeline unless I open the app.

If both of these did the background refresh thing, Twitter would display all the current tweets and Facebook would display all the current posts. Neither of these are displayed in the list of apps under the 'Background Refresh' section under Settings?

Is there any way to use APPLE MAPS if you choose to get directions in the Google search app? Right now, it defaults to Google Maps, but I am finding in a side by side, that the Apple Maps are actually more accurate for me.

iphone 5C - group messages

my wife's 5C will not accept group messages. I turned it on in the settings, power cycled the phone and still nothing.

Can you help?

Deinstall Google Maps? Or does it default to the browser? Then you can't change it as Google wants to create their own ecosystem just like Apple.

This is not an iOS 7 change. From the beginning on, the iPad smart cover would either unlock your iPad or prompt you to enter your passcode if you have set one. Never did the iPad smart cover light up the screen and show the lock screen. You shouldn't swear that ;)

There is a setting where you can choose whether opening the smart cover automatically unlocks the iPad or not. If its set to unlock on opening then you will get the passcode screen if you have one or if not the home screen. If its set to off then it would just show the normal iPad lock screen. Suspect the person above had it set to off previously but on installing iOS7 its defaulted to on. Switching the setting to off should allow him to do what he wants.

I guarantee they do. They are in my update history regularly.

last auto update for Twitter is 10/29. I can't speak for Tweetbot but that's not the Twitter app.

Whenever I delete a photo in my camera roll, I have to delete it again in Photo Stream (the same thing the other way around. How I delete just once? Really can't figure this out...

...I'm sorry but not to cause an argument here but you are mistaken.

If you go to Settings > General > Background Refresh, you will see that Facebook is NOT in the list of apps which do a background refresh. This means that it does NOT refresh in the background.

You can test this by opening up the app. It will then load up all the current posts. If you then close the app, but leave it in the background, and then re-open it, say an hour later, it will then briefly show the old posts from an hour ago, and then it will proceed to load up all the current and new posts. If it was Background Refresh enabled, it would already display the new posts when you re-open the app (it does NOT!) as it would have refreshed the timeline in the background - which it currently DOES NOT DO.....!!!

He is confusing auto update with background refresh.

Strange... I thought if it was turned "off" the smart cover would have no effect on the device at all and you'd have to use the power button for unlocking?

You're talking about auto update for apps. He's talking about background app refresh. Two different things.

ah, I see. thanks. I don't know what background refresh is, then. I'll have to look into it.

This may or may not be a stupid question...

Have downloaded the content that I want from the cloud onto my iPhone 5s (the rest is for my iPad.) How do I stop my phone from showing the stuff that I haven't downloaded? (It has the cloud symbol by it to say that I can download it.)

Alright, here are my stupid questions.

I restored as a new (no iCloud backup restore, by "new" I mean as a completely new iPhone). Some bugs are still present which I assumed were caused by the backup, but I was actually wrong, as it seems. "About" shows that I have around 100 pictures and around 30 videos which isn't true (I set it up as new, right?). Why do I have a ".150" domain shortcut in Safari? Why there is "Anterior" instead of "Back", which I assume is French? Am I doing something wrong?
