Update: I called this morning just to check on the status of my order and they offered me 2 free iPhone 8’s.

Seems that with the purchase of an iPhone X you get an iPhone 8 for free if you open a new phone line with AT&T. Couldn’t take advantage of it as I don’t have another family member to add to the plan but thought I’d let others know that if you, say, want to upgrade yourself to an iPhone X and get your 11 year old his/her first iPhone you can wind up with both an iPhone X 256GB and an iPhone 8 for $699.
Damn. That's a good deal.

How does this work if you are on an old unlimited plan? Do they tack on the additional line access fee (I currently don't pay any line access fee, according to my bill). Thanks!

Depending on how many people are in your family it maybe time to give up that grandfathered plan. I held onto it with my bleeding fingers for years but the new Unlimited Plus plan was so good for my kids who are not grandfathered that it made sense to go all in on the new plan. I'm saving $200 a month with my teens being unlimited.

What if I'm not on ATT ? Moving over from T-Mobile can I get these same $599 deals on the iPhone X ?

Apparently not. I have two lines I'm willing to bring over to AT&T for the right deal. I asked the agent about $699 for iPhone X 256gb and he said

"Well, people who have got the cellphone at that price are customers that have been in service with us for a long time. Manage by a different department"

One of the few times I've seen a carrier take care of existing customers better than new customers. Kudos AT&T

Did you ask for Loyalty Department? From what I have learned, this has nothing to do with retention. Regular CSR's have no clue about this offer.

Do you need to be on unlimited plan to take advantage of BOGO? The only thing which is keeping me on AT&T is that you cant order iPhone on IUP online with Tmobile and Tmobile asks down payment for the iphone X!

This.

The other night when I followed your script via chat I first was connected to a regular CSR. I asked her to connect me with Loyalty. Instead she connected me with a CSR Supervisor who told me that my only offer was full price.

When I shared with her “what my friend was just offered” (you) she had no clue about the $699 deal w/2 year commitment. Finally she got me over to Loyalty and things went like a charm from there. Getting to a Loyalty agent is the key to the whole thing.

Are you a current ATT customer, or new account ? I'd switch from T-Mobile to ATT to get this deal for my Wife and I, if possible ??

I’m a current ATT customer.

If I were you I’d try chat on their website and act like you are a past ATT customer looking to leave and come back. That may be the way to skirt a regular CSR and get to the Loyalty department. It seems only Loyalty can offer the steep discounts.

FYI AT&T is in a good stock position now.

I ordered 2 iPhone X 256GB Space Grey on Tuesday night 12/7.

Got an email saying they would ship between 12/27 and 1/5.

Just got another email. They shipped this morning. I’ll have them tomorrow 12/9.

That’s true in general. From Apple you can order a phone for same-day pickup now.

Not "Retention", but "Loyalty". Very, very different...

And just to clarify - you were *not* an existing AT&T customer?

EDIT: Derp, this was already asked and answered, sorry.
