I like everything Verizon has however someone told me they do not offer wifi calling? I think thats wrong. I currently have a 60gb shared data plan for $375 after taxes with a 25% FAN.

Debating if its worth to switch to unlimited plan being that worse case without the FAN I would be more or less paying the same as I am now after everything. The 22gb limit and 10gb tether limit so long as it is a per line limit, I think this is a better way to go correct?

They off course offer WiFi calling on Verizon.
Yes, I believe this deal would be better with the 10GB tethering included and many more perks than what you have now.
You'd be looking at 220GB full speed LTE and about half of that can be used for personal hotspot. Better than the 60GB shared you have now.

Thanks. You think I should just switch to Verizon? I feel Att has better international footprint though both Att and Verizon international offerings are horrible.

You think the next wave besides slashing prices is going to be International calling or data included? I'm surprised neither of these two did anything about it so far

I'd definitely get away from those shared plans you have now.
This deal is great.
The Verizon international deal is better than AT&T's but not as great as Tmobiles international offers. But that's if you travel a lot and spend lots of out time outside the US. I dont really do. An international trip once a year for me so not a big deal.
I dont expect Verizon to come up with any better deal than this. If anything it will be for a limited time and not available for too long. So I'd get it and become grandfathered in as soon as possible.
Last time AT&T and verizon offered unlimited data was over 7 years ago.

I travel a fair amount internationally. When I gave T-mobile a shot, it was nice not to have to worry about text or data fees, but it was nothing to write home about. Speeds often are limited to 2G in a lot of countries. Further, I found that there is enough free wifi around that not having free international data and text was no big deal.

Personally, I wouldn't base my choice between AT&T and Verizon, or TMO for that matter, on international coverage. I would pick what works best for you at home since that's where you'll be most of the time.

Verizon torpedoed AT&T's plans to try to force people to buy direct TV programming in order to get an unlimited data plan. That's what he meant I think.

Actually not true. Called AT&T to ask a couple of questions. I'm on the $180 4 line unlimited plan. When I was talking with the rep she thanked me for being a Gold ribbon member and that I'm eligible for $25 a month DirectTV discount and a $300 Visa gift card. This is without having a plan that forces me to get DirectTV.

Hello DirectTV goodbye Comcast.

Not necessarily they want your DirectTV business.

Yes, that too.
I use Cox Cable instead :D

I really doubt with the landscape of mobile wireless lately that this will be for a limited time, I am sure this is here to stay

I hope you're right but plans change constantly and they are never forever or here to stay.
They always edit them, remove them, put new ones out.
I been having cellphone plans since 1997 so the monthly plans were never here to stay.

Anyone else seen that when you go into the plan details it says that mobile hotspot is not allowed?

So I'm confused on a few things. My current plan 60gb shared MSV I'm told they added options to where I can be in Canada US or Mexico and calls to and from all three, data and text will be treated local with no charges.

It seems the new unlimited plan keeps mentioning just calls and text not data within those countries.

Any clarifications?

I never would have believed this if I hadn't experienced the same thing myself. Had an AT&T rep outright lie about the particulars of the tethering and after I switched customer service and retention wouldn't change me back to my old plan. The retention department supervisor told me "Sometimes we have to accept that we were given bad information and make the best of a bad situation".

After being with AT&T for more than 10 years I'll be moving on in short order.

I was constantly being misled at AT&T. They don't care about customer service. It's all about making commissions. I'm done with them.

And customer service at Verizon is second to none. They really have improved their customer service. Verizon had horrible customer service and mislead customers for yrs. They have improved drastically in that Dept. I couldn't be happier with my service with them and great coverage!

Verizon is not very good at grandfathering their plans. You may be able to keep your plan but they will not allow you to make any changes and keep. Can't add any lines or get new phones.

This is the thing that really angers me: a rep can tell you anything, and there's no accountability. The next rep will just say, "I'm sorry that you were given incorrect information, but there's nothing that we can do."

Im not surprised though...

I hear you.
Judging from their past Verizon is the worst at letting their customers stay on old grandfathered plans. They try to force them out via various sneaky ways.
Keep raising their rates or not allowing them to upgrade to new devices and so on.

Isn't those calls recorder for quality assurance and training purposes like they say at the beginning of the call?
They cant discipline those bad reps and bring up those calls later for reference?
Or they just dont care?

Go with AT&T. They have great coverage. For me, Verizon and T-Mobile are terribly inconsistent.

No one should be using their cellular plan to make outgoing international calls as Facetime is free and Skype is $0.01 cent per minute. As far as traveling internationally, most of that usage is on business trips and the cost is covered by the businesses the AT&T users work for so we don't care much what they cost.

But at this point, Verizon can't force us off the UDP because we no longer need to use them to upgrade to new devices. The only time this will be an issue is when they to 5g

That's correct.
I was just saying judging by the way they acted in the past they are not very consumer friendly. All they care about is how to charge more and offer less.
Seems like T-Mobile has really put the screws on both AT&T and Verizon though so I doubt they will continue with their same old tactics;)

You can't generalize this way. I was an AT&T customer for years (though I've been a Verizon customer in the past as well), but they have consistent dead spots on my commute which I have reported repeatedly. I just switched back to Verizon and my connection is much more reliable. The bottom line is that it depends where the user is.

Certainly there are rural locations where coverage might be an issue, but I travel extensively in the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia and I haven't hit a dead spot in a decade with AT&T. Skiing in Vermont, dusty factories in China, skyscrapers in Manhattan, lake houses in Texas, never had an issue at all.

So, yes, if someone lives in the mountains or the woods you choose the best carrier for that situation. But to have a decent conversation comparing carriers we have to talk in broader strokes, AT&T is great.

To the subject of this thread, AT&T did a great job in responding to the unlimited data surge, they created an offer, it didn't stick, they flipped it quickly, the new one is very competitive and reasonably priced.
