One more question. I keep reading you need explicit approval from AT&T to use this Netgear signal enhancer.

Like I'm going to call AT&T and ask permission. This is probably a dumb question, but did you or your friend call them?
I called Verizon to let them know I would be using a weBoost Drive 4G-X - because the user manual said I had to - and they responded with something along the lines of, "Okay... and you want me to do what with that information?" They didn't really care - but I would still do it just to be safe, so you don't get a fine from the FCC or something for using powerful radio equipment.

I'm curious as to where you read that, I've never heard anything like that. Doesn't mean it isn't true, just curious is all. I'm not super knowledgeable about these things. I wouldn't tell them if it was me lol, and I didn't tell anyone when I was using it.

I might be open to selling mine. Figured I should ask here first before simply Craigslisting it.

If anyones in the Southern California area and can meet up for a sale/transfer let me know :)

Edit: Sold.

My AT&T iPhone 6s Plus:
30.38 down
15.27 up
ping 38 ms

iPad SIM on Netgear Unite Pro tethered to iPhone 6s Plus:
19.57 down
16.70 up
ping 38 ms

I wonder why there's such huge discrepancy with download.

Question about this "transferring" of Unlimited Data plans.

LONG ago my cousin tried transferring her unlimited data account to me. AT&T told me that they couldn't do it because I'm essentially a new customer so I can't receive any grandfathered deals.

I then asked "What if I take over the account?" to which they told me that, again, it's just not possible.

So how is it that you guys are able to do it? What exactly is the trick? I'm sure you're not paying the bill in someone else's name or anything...

I think you're confusing the regular postpaid mobile att unlimited data plan with the 29.99 unlimited prepaid iPad plan.

Here in NYC with the previously mentioned setup. Grandfathered AT&T ipad unlimited plan.. recently I realized I could use it on the AT&T Unite and it worked immediately. I'm in NYC - and tested it in manhattan, brooklyn, jersey city - and appear to have my downloads top out at or under 10Mb/s and uploads at or under 15Mb/s. Connected from my android see this speedtest for an example: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1782124584. Results mirror desktop, iphone etc...

Am i getting hosed by AT&T or is something else at play?

It's not the same with the unlimited iPad plan, because you're not actually transferring the plan to another account. When you get the plan from someone else, you change the password to the account so the person you got it from loses access to it, and the billing information so you can pay for the plan with your own money, since the previous owner is obviously not going to keep paying for it.

Hi, I live in Los Angeles. Are you still selling your AT&T iPad unlimited data plan? Let me know if so. Thanks.

Looking to buy an unlimited AT&T iPad data plan (29.99/mo). Please PM if you have one for sale!

Hi everyone,

Can anyone with an AT&T grandfathered unlimited iPad data plan ($29.99/month/prepad) tell me whether you need to pay $20 a month to AT&T to use a Unite Pro? Or can you simply buy a Unite Pro off-contract and pop the unlimited sim into it and use it without paying $20 a month? Thanks in advance for your insights.

Ended up selling my unlimited plan the other day but just wanted to thank everyone in the thread for their amazing insight and knowledge <3

Having the plan was very helpful and I might buy one again in the future if I'm not completely surrounded by wifi 24-7 like I am right now.

Cheers!

How much did you sell it for?

How much did you sell it for?

$1,200 cash.

It was tricky because I don't trust selling things on eBay, after being scammed on there before when selling an iPhone, so it limited my potential buyers by quite a bit. I mean... how many people out there:
A) Know about the power of this plan
B) Will pay $1000 or more for it
C) Live near you
D) Would be willing to meet up with that much cash

Not many in my opinion. I'm sure I could have haggled for more if I really cared to (the average price of unlimited data plans sold on eBay during the month of Feb was $1,609.33!) but I'm not greedy and simply wanted what I paid for it.

Hello all,

Looking to purchase unlimited data plan as well. Please pm if selling.

Thanks,
Randy

Hard to believe that my iPad plan can be worth that kind of money. That is a good proportion of what I've paid to ATT over the years. I just wish I could hotspot my iPad for occasional laptop usage of it.

You can if u jb it. Or just get a unite pro hotspot.

I could imagine what this forum will look like year from now when data become so damn expensive and people are like begging for the plan, I'm sure that ATT will be up the month recurring charges for the plan to about 35-40 dollars extra but it will still be worth the price compared to paying per GB on the account.

As you guys can see, on eBay, people are going crazy on the price for the plan, i have never seen it so high its close to 3000 dollars for the plan.

Like i tell any and everyone grab the plan while it out there being it won't be out there for long.

People say that there around Wifi all the time, but ain't nothing like your own dedicated connection to have when you are out and about streaming and downloading, also there are certain people that have ATT international Data unlimited plan, people need to get on that too, because those plan where dead, but some i only saw 3 of them getting sold, so get them while there here also, because in the future you talk about being worth money its going to be worth money.
