That's good FOR YOU. 6 gb a month? I normally do about 40-50. I've done 100+ before. Others have done hundreds of gb. Att lte is still better overall than Tmobile. I have Tmobile as my phone service btw. You need a hotspot? Jb an iPad or get a unite pro.

I hope you can see the value of unlimited, never throttled att 4g lte for 29.99 a month. Some are using it as their home internet. The savings if you are a data user far outweigh the costs.

I don't use it as internet at home but I have regularly used 150 gigs before. We drove 16 hours last weekend and my kids streamed movies the entire way. Imagine how much 32 hours (16 hours x 2 iPads) of streaming would have cost on AT&T.

those are a lifesaver on long trips. Plug it in and just watch movies. Or, when you're away from wifi or in a hotel that charges for wifi. I've thrown my sim in a unite pro and had 4 people sharing the connection.

Can I ask possibly a dumb question? Isn't the Verizon cellphone unlimited data just as good on the road? Because u have the big screen telephOnes?

Yeah, it would be great. If the AT&T terms of service allowed you to use your unlimited plan on a hotspot device, it would be great.

Only they don't.

I just want to chime in here and add a +1 to the list of people using this with Google hangouts, I switched my wife and I over to Hangouts, ported the numbers, and now she and I both use whatever the hell we want whenever we want. The value CANNOT be overstated. Nobody I know even realizes I have Google hangouts, they all just think I have a regular contract. The transcribed voicemails are awesome also. Then my 3rd plan is my home internet, for online gaming, streaming etc. Works great.

Yeah. I use this on my Verizon and AT&T unlimited plans. My Verizon plan has 30 anytime minutes and no texts, and my AT&T plan is just data for tablets, so GV and Hangouts gets me unlimited everything.

Not sure why anyone would go this route. I pay $25 as a t-mobile customer, $35 if I wasn’t, and receive a 6gb allocation per month, with zero overages. The services also comes with data-stash for 12 months plus Binge-On, which means I have watch unlimited video on the iPad. T-Mobile also permits me to use this as a hotspot, which you cannot with the legacy AT&T unlimited plan. Plus I get unlimited international data included, though capped but still usable.

I will end up paying $600 over 24 months for all of these features. On top of that, my T-Mobile service has faster LTE speeds than AT&T in most cities. Whereas, anyone who pays even $1.6k to purchase some at&t unlimited plan, ends up paying a mind-boggling $2,300 over the same period.

I can also add jump (insurance & upgrades) to my Tmobile tablet service and I get to free up cash by spreading out the cost of the iPad purchase over the 24 months - interest free.

Because people sometimes use more, way more than 6 gigs of data

Hey guys new to the forum the closest thing I can think of to what u want is the no throttling Verizon unlimited data. Att throttles. By the way does anyone have the iPad unlimited data on here that are looking to sell it? I'm interested in purchasing
Att throttles those post paid unlimited phone plans, not this pre paid iPad plan

Streaming movies over a cellular connection makes no sense to me. To each his own.

Because you can. And not worry about overages or throttling. For 29.99. But hey it's not for everyone. But if you're a data user then it's easy to see the savings.

Yup. My family makes trips to Florida and Michigan about 12-14 hours each way. Stream movies n shows all day no problem. Among the normal internet usage.

I too have the unlimited data plan, and I agree. I like the privacy factor - not having to worry about the security of the public wifi. I like the availability - I am not always near wifi. I like the speed - sometimes public wifi has too many users on the node. I am not worried about the savings - I want the availability.

Yeah I'm the same way. Vpn plus my own networks means better privacy.

That is true but I've had 2 of these plans for years, and you can see the countless posts of people who have thrown these in hotspots and have no problems. There was one guy who went over 100GB's!!!

Don't be mistaken, this isn't the same as the iPhone unlimited data plan (which we have 3 of those). You will get switched for breaking the TOS on the iPhone. You can read about that on these forums. Those also get throttled. But the iPad, it's a whole different ballgame. No throttling, no swapping plans. I've been doing the hotspot for years too.

Just because they've done it doesn't mean they should. They wipe their behinds with the AT&T TOS and hope AT&T doesn't care enough to go after them. Yet when they do, we see them here whining and complaining about a text they received or about being throttled. Their sense of entitlement is amazing.

Some of us rather follow the rules even when no one is watching. It's the definition of integrity.

It's been 6 years now. If AT&T hasn't done anything by now, I doubt they ever will.

I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan as well. I currently have a micro SIM card in a iPad 3rd generation. What are my option for a hot spot? Thank you in advance

if your plan is on at&t then an "at&t unite pro" will work. you can easily find one on ebay for under $100.

now does anyone know if newer ipad sim cards will work on this? need an adapter?

Don't get texts about being throttled. Those are the phone plans.

And yet they may. It's their network after all. And those who abuse it wreck it for the rest of us.

Anything can happen. But it's been good so far. I love it.

It's funny you think we have anything to do with what att does. We don't wreck it for anyone.

Looking through and a little confused on the proper way to transfer my unlimited ATT plan. Have an iPad 2 (with micro-Sim) and purchased the iPad Pro 9.7 (Nano-Sim). To transfer the ATT plan should I go to my local ATT store and get a nano-Sim to insert into the iPad Pro or should I turn on the new Pro and then enter the new account info from the iPad 2? Or something else? Coming from an older iPad, wanted to make sure I do this correctly.

Thanks!!

No.

Just log into your new iPad with your AT&T account ID and password, and done.

No sim, no AT&T store, NADA.
