Yeah you can really do it either way...by adding it via the AT&T login or just swapping the sim card. However, when using the AT&T login method you describe, the ipad embedded sim (in the 9.7") is permanently locked to AT&T which sort of defeats the entire purpose of it. So I will just be swapping it back and forth. Plus this allows me to use it with my iPad mini when I don't need the full size ipad.

Mine is the 12.9" iPad Pro. I added my iPad 4th Generation to my regular family share plan AT&T. Although I do not use it much.

Does anyone know if I buy a dual sim Samsung s7 can I put my unlimited data iPad sim in the phone and put my other sim for calls in phone. And will my unlimited data sim use that for data on it?

Does anyone know if I could use my SIM card for unlimited iPad data in my iPhone or android device? Or will it mess or close my data account
Yes, you can even use it in a hotspot if you want. That's the biggest appeal of this plan to me. Put it in a phone and use Google Voice/Hangouts for $30/month unlimited everything on AT&T. Swap it to a hotspot and connect your phone and any other device and still get your calls and texts on your phone.

Sure you can. Just don't be upset if you get a text from AT&T or they cancel your account. They don't like people violating their terms of service.

But sure you can.

Yes this will work fine. You might not get as fast data speeds though if the LTE frequencies aren't compatible.

So what are these plans generally worth today. I remember them selling on eBay about 6 months ago for around $1K. Now I'm being told they're worth like $2500+?

I'd say they're worth 2.5k at this point. However I wouldn't be surprised if some people were paying over 3k.

I think it's depend on what market are you on. Say you pulling +50mbps downloads with att where you live then these are worth +2.5k or if you barely get 5-10 mbps where you live I don't think paying that much for that line is worth it. You better off getting a regular unlimited via directv promo.

Very good point I didn't think about that. Personally I use one as my home internet and regularly get close to 75mbps. So for me I would pay that price as you said because it's worth it. But definitely not under lesser circumstances.

It's been years since they were selling for "only" $1,000.

Honestly, with Verizon starting to kick some people off unlimited, I'd be really scared to pay thousands of dollars for this plan on AT&T and worry about AT&T doing the same thing eventually.

I know AT&T doesn't throttle this specific plan, but why not just get a cricket line for $65 a month and put it in an iPad? That's what we do as an internet alternative. We use our phones for social network, etc., but pump all Netflix through an iPad on cricket connected to a TV.

Pretty sure it would be a lower cost for roughly 5+ years assuming you bought an ATT unlimited iPad sim for $2000. At least in this case, if you were to get kicked off of cricket (which you probably wouldn't because you'd be using the same amount of data if using an iPhone), you're not really out any money (other than maybe a $10 sim fee).

$2000 seems like too much of a risk when Verizon is starting to crack down, AT&T may be next, and you have Cricket which is basically AT&T coverage wise.

Does anyone know how you can use AT&T prepaid fillup credit towards this account? All I see for payments is the credit card info section.

Question about SIM cards

I don't have an iPad but I have two of these accounts in Unite Pro hotspots. One of the SIMs is nano so I plan to keep it that way but the other is micro. In the future I may need to swap it for a nano SIM. How do I change the SIM card attached to an account without access to an iPad?

Right I see the place where you can update the IMEI but I believe this requires an iPad. I don't have one
Personally I had to use an iPad to switch the plan over to a new SIM card and get the 4g lte activated. Then I just logged out of the account and gave it back to the owner. My Sim card was activated and no harm done to his ipad.

Can you give the specific steps you took? I may need to do this so I'd like to do it right the first time.

1. Get Att card at corp. store, buy online , call CS and give them a new SIM
2. I bought a SIM cutter online, cut macro to nano and sand it a little bit to make it slimmer

or even cheaper on the eBay

You can always use sim inserts to use nano SIM in macro/regular slot

You can just update the ICCID without disturbing the IMEI that is already there. I do this all the time to transfer service between my iPad and my Unite Pro hotspot.

If for some reason you need a new SIM card, go to the AT&T store and ask for one. If you need a nano SIM, tell them you have an iPad mini or an iPad Air/Pro. If you need a micro SIM, tell them you have an iPad 1/2/3/4. If you need a regular sized SIM, tell them you have an Android tablet that takes regular SIMs (they may tell you that you cannot activate service from the tablet, but insist that you want the SIM card anyway).

Use this link to enter the ICCID of the SIM to activate service.

I changed 6 iPads already and never updated IMEI. I think it is better to do this now.
Thanks guys

These latest prices are in the tullip mania range now. $3k on top of $30 a month. Would be funny when att kills these and they become worthless

Wait you can just swap service by simply changing the numbers back and forth online? How long does this process take to have the service take effect?

Faster than physically swapping sim?
