I just got my second "Your item is backordered and it is still backordered" email from B&H. Has anyone received their MBP from B&H? Mine was a non standard configuration so I am guessing I will be waiting longer than a standard mdl.

Got the same email. This sucks lol looks like we’ll be waiting the full time, Dec 16-20 for me

Fingers crossed that Santa brings it Christmas week. I tell my daughter to be patient all the time so I guess I have to lead by example.

Oh no! A lot of the B&H ETAs on the custom machines just changed to 6-8 weeks. Was supposed to be 12/16

Yeah I am going to cancel my 16/64/1TB order from B&H - might as well get it from Apple (who claim it will be delivered by Feb 1)

Same here
I just chatted with B&H and the person assured me the order would get fulfilled "next week". The model I had ordered originally said Dec 16th, so we shall see next week if anything happens

Just FYI - B&H is changing the underlying bank for their PayBoo card so we have till mid Jan to use that card. Else we need to apply again (probably with another hard inquiry) for the "new" PayBoo card as the older one will not work for B&H's sales tax credit after mid Jan.

This is becoming a hassle ...

Just talked to b&h customer service they delayed it again for january 6th, told me couple of days ago my item will get shipped on december 16th, please confirm if you guys recieved notifications or order status changed to processing ?

Chat is closed so couldnt ask them - will try tomorrow. What's your configuration? Is it the 4TB/8TB one?

I did not read the email I received that closely - that is a hassle to have to apply for another credit card. I hope all of these Dec 16 quotes are correct so I can have my PayBoo card payed off in Jan.

Yep they said shipments are now expected in second or third week of Jan 2022. The person claimed that they could not see where anyone had told me for a December ship date

Man - that's right in the window for the PayBoo card switch over. That might be a pain.

I ordered almost maxed out 14" M1 Max(64, 32, 2tb drive) Nov 1, 2021 and was told delivery would be late December 2021 as I was in the first batch of orders. Now they are stating Feb 5, 2022 delivery date and blaming Apple. I went on Apple site and if I ordered the same specced laptop TODAY I would get laptop Feb. 11.

Did anyone order around Nov. 1 and get their BTO laptop from BH? I think BH CSR was fibbing when he said I was getting it alte dec. since i was one of the first 60 to order lol

I have made it a point to only order from B&H if they have it in stock and savings are material. They are unreliable and often untruthful about pending orders.

Yea that is probably good advice. I have sort of given up on them for Nikon gear as the wait time is outrageous. But was seduced by the PayBoo tax refund. If I knew it was going to be February I would have just ordered from Apple.

I know this is a BH thread, but I ordered a 64gb max 1tb config from their competitor, Adorama on November 2nd. I already have the base 32gb max config as I needed a computer after I sold my 5600m mbp and picked it up from the apple store on launch day.

I was told the 64gb config would be shipping out by last week of November. They kept pushing it back every week and I finally cancelled the other day when they told me it moved from the 16th to the 23rd. I only got an extension to return the current 32gb config by the 24th. Given Christmas mail traffic, I felt I couldn’t be without a computer till January. I also couldn’t payoff both computers on time and initially they promised me the Last weekend of November. It was a very frustrating experience, as when I ordered the 64gb config the apple site had an eta delivery of mid January. I think apple gives B&H and adorama the wrong ETA ship date.

I mentioned this in another thread, but there seem to be supply chain delays and inventory shortages for many of the new MBP's right now.

The MBP 14" base model in space gray, in particular, has become almost like "unobtanium" in the Northeast USA. Checking around, I find:
- Adorama -- no stock until end of January
- B&H -- no stock
- MacConnection -- no stock
- MicroCenter -- no stock in many stores (one open-box unit available)

I wouldn't be too quick to blame the resellers. The information they have is probably based on what Apple tells them. And THAT information may be shifting/changing.

About the most accurate answer:
"You'll get it when they get here..."

Aside:
You'll recall that when Apple announced the new MBP's, they also said there would be supply restraints until the new year. Sounds like "the first wave" of shipments has largely come... and gone. I'll guess that of what stock is still coming in, Apple Stores get first pick on...

I have an order with Adorama too. The thing that gets me is that they charged my CC when the passed the order off to Apple to ship, even though it is apparently backordered. Now, if it is delayed too long past the 27th of December they told me when I called and asked, I risk having to pay off the computer before I even get it :(

I naively expected to be charged when it was actually shipped. Not just when it went on Apple's back order list.

Yes, they did the same thing for me. I ordered a backorder config and they told me the next day that it would be dropshipped. I really thought I wouldn’t be charged immediately, which would have helped me out with returning the 32gb to Apple via mail. I got an extension from apple as I have been having memory leaks. They then proceeded to charge my adorama edge card and I had to pay off the MacBook by December 11th. I told them I honestly couldn’t deal with that much negative balance, and they cancelled my order immediately.

I decided to keep the 32gb config that I picked up from the apple store on launch day. I appreciated their easy cancellation but I really needed the 64gb to future proof and it was much more affordable than apple direct as I get it practically sales tax free. I would have purchased from apple but the apple tax is too much for me, but I decided having the 32gb(despite the apple tax) is better than no comp for nearly a month or longer. I may be forced to sell it in the future when 32gb is no longer sufficient. I am actually downgrading ram as I had 64gb on my 5600m config that I sold before picking up the 32gb max on launch day.

Has ANYONE gotten any of the B&H or Adorama pre orders? I ordered the day B&H put them up so I’m pretty sure I’m in the first batch of pre-orders. The only reason was the Payboo card tax saving. In Calif it’s a non trivial amount of sales tax for a four thousand dollar notebook. The thing is - if B&H said “yep it will ship in Jan” - that’s something that one can plan for. But I have very little faith that they will actually be able to ship in Jan either. And one of the reps on chat claims the Payboo card purchase will still be valid on the older card because it’s a pre-order. Whereas there’s nothing on B&H’s own site that says so …

Worst buying experience ever …
