My relationship has compromises in it, in both directions.

True, and it was my decision, mostly for health reasons. I'll probably start eating bacon occasionally again after a few months.

I'm having a hard time imagining what she could possibly be giving up that would be as important as bacon. ;)

As long as it's your decision. But to refuse to kiss you because you choose to eat bacon seems a tad over the top. There are definitely compromises I've made in relationships, but i don't think this would ever be one of them. I respect anyone who is a vegetarian or a vegan, but the respect goes away when they try and force other people into that lifestyle.

I've got a buddy whose wife is a health nut and won't let him eat anything but organic stuff and weird tofu. He absolutely hates it, but figures it's easier than having her b**** at him.

I tend to avoid fake meat. It's never as good, and the non fake meat choice is usually nicer.

I admit I had doubts too, but we now often buy this kind:

It tastes good to me and you can cook it any way you like, traditional skillet, griddle, or microwave.

Since I've lived with her (3yrs) I've only managed to cook sausages once & 2 filet steaks.

When ever at a restaurant, as a rule, I generally try to consume as much meat as I can. It annoys the hell out of her but what can she do? We don't need to tidy up & the smell is temporary.

She's a fake vegi anyway. She eats fish!

Had deep-fried bacon at a fair recently. Meh...prefer the traditional skillet version sans the breading.

Like anything fried it all depends on the breading recipea and the spices used. My dad makes some awesome fried bacon. It's light and crispy with great flavor.

offtopic rant/

those are nearly my most favorites vegis... like somehow there is a difference
fishing the seas empty somewhere in the pacific sure isn't more ecological
i known ones who would eat fish nearly twice per day while i would eat perhaps meat twice per week and still tried to lecture me

only beaten by the ones who make big speeches at the table about "the poor animals" while wearing a long leather coat, a broad leather belt, knee high leather boots and a big leather purse and owning a car with leather seats

rant over - back to more bacon /

regarding those turkey bacon ,ham, sausages honestly i'm still a little baffled about them... around here such turkey products are rather new to the market(last 10 years i would guess) and thus i haven't really tried much of them but so far the sausages have been rather dissapointing... perhaps in the US the products are better.. around here they seem to cater only to health obsessed women with the marketing/ads

Serving size- 1 slice

LMAO.

My wife thought I was nuts for putting both bacon and raisins in my oatmeal. And she puts pineapple on chicken curry!

Raisins belong in bran cereal and oatmeal cookies, nothing else. :D

Hey now sir, I never said I followed the consumption recommendations. Although eating a couple of pieces of turkey bacon is cetainly better for me than eating a couple of regular pieces. If your not careful bacon can be like potato chips, you've eaten far more than you intended.

Turkey bacon?!?

If you want bacon, eat bacon - if you want turkey, eat turkey. I don't understand what the world has come to. We have people drinking beer with no alcohol, smoking cigarettes with no tobacco, and now eating bacon that isn't even friggin' bacon. What's next? Having sex with a woman that isn't a woman? Oh, wait...

People don't want to just let things be anymore. Bacon made out of turkey, turkey made out of tofu, now that are people gonna start making tofu out of next?

For a minute there, I actually thought the Bacon thread might get PRSI'd with all that vegany, relationshipy, turkey-y stuff. Then came the above pic and I knew we were back on track. Bacon imitates art far more than art imitates Bacon. Delicious.

Gotta say I am not a fan of the bacon over here in London

I like my bacon crispy

Over here in London, I go to the breakfast buffet at the Marriott
Their bacon is listed as "streaky bacon" and "back bacon"
Neither of them look like they have been properly cooked at all :(
The "streaky bacon" would be ok if they just fried it up a while longer
The "back bacon" looks more like undercooked ham that couldn't make it as real ham

And don't get me started on the beans and mushrooms on the breakfast buffet

But hey, the fruit is good :)
Bananas, cantaloupe, honey dew, watermelon

Oh man! This is basically the only thing I miss about England right now.... Bacon that doesn't feel like it has been in an incinerator. Bacon that doesn't shatter when I try to cut it. Bacon that when placed between two slices of buttered bread with a splattering of tomato ketchup doesn't crack. Mmmm Bacon...

I spotted a question in an old PC support forum. It's a routine question, but with a bacon addendum:
I’ve been using MS Office 2003 trial version and I’m trying to upgrade it to the full version. When I try to follow the instructions I get an error message:

Installation Error: File not Found
A required installation file sku112.cab could not be found.

What can I do?
What’s wrong?
Can you help me?
What happened to the crispy bacon we used to get before the war?
Anybody curious about that last question? A little research reveals where it came from!
