I'll wait then. Thanks so much for letting me know and sorry for your disappointment. At least the return should be easy enough judging from my own past experience.
Guess it all depends on which staff member accepts the item on that particular day. Some know stuff and others know absolutely nothing. It's up to us the consumers to stay ahead of the game. I'll be in London next week close to the particular store that has the other loop and I'll check it out. If it's fake too, I'll certainly give them some grief about it. They should try educating their staff a little more or get ones that are not tech hippies or students. I was sent a space black link bracelet once when I bought a SS one, but the return was very easy.

No problem,

What happened when you tried returning the fake?
Everytime I've returned a strap the manager seems to be the same person that does it and he always checks over the strap inspecting it before accepting a refund. Will kick up a fuss and say it's not acceptable, I hope they don't try refusing me.

Mine wasn't a fake, it was just the wrong colour of link band. Good luck! I'm sure it will be fine.

Returned it fine, the guy was cool about it and apologised. He said the strap was from Stratford so I'm not sure if that 38mm one was from there as well, if so then it's probably the same seller and fake.

Will no doubt wait a little while until a few real ones flood in, by then they'll probably boost the price up to £100+

On another note in the Basildon store(Essex) they have a brand new sealed boxed 38mm royal blue nylon band for sale, only £1 cheaper but least some are real and brand new.

I've finally become part of the lucky lot. After ordering a few grade A bands and all of them being used, ordered a black Milanese loop and that being fake I've just got through the post a real brand new space black Milanese loop for £70. A nice £110 saving, Im shocked someone's actually sold a brand new black Milanese loop for £18:eek:

Turns out some of us do get lucky

Yeah I did think it was more than likely a 5 finger discount. Still it doesn't concern me where it originally came from as I got myself a decent strap at over half the cost:D
Any chance of posting pics of the condition it came in please?

The box had been opened, presumably they have to open it to check that it actually has the strap. But as you can just see it still has the tags on the strap itself.

They had 2 grade A black Milanese loop from the same store so I guess who ever got the other one that would've been brand new as well.

Thanks so much. Looks like a bargain! Sometimes CEX do provide a good deal. I'll keep my eyes on the website. Such a shame the stores don't have direct numbers so customers can call and check the condition of items.

I think that's it for me with cex now unless the leather loops drop down but I'm happy with the Milanese loop. Yeah it is annoying but saying that everytime I've gone into store they're always so busy and don't even have time to talk to customers unless your buying or selling something at the till. Pictures online would be better though, that way you wouldn't have to risk it to then return it.
[doublepost=1461141048][/doublepost]On another note, does anyone know where you stand if the strap fails/breaks? I obviously have the original packaging but no receipt, would they refuse without that? Obviously I hope it doesn't fail but just thinking ahead. I'm on about with Apple by the way not cex.

Do you have an account with CEX? If so, they can look up your purchases provided you let them scan your barcode while purchasing. Why did you not get a receipt? Perhaps you threw it away? I think there is a warranty, you should look at their website.

Sorry I didn't word it correctly, I meant with Apple where do I stand, do they have some sort of warrantee with the straps?

Not sure. I remember talk of there not being warranty on bands, not really 100% sure. There are stories of replacements given in store but it could depend on the circumstances and the specialist you see on the day.

Do you remember what store it was? There is one in Tooting London, grade A, £70, might take the plunge...

The fake one I got before was from London. I believe it was Suffolk I got mine from. It's risky but if you don't mind spending the £70, you'll get your money back if it's fake.

Fair enough. So, if it doesn't come in a box or with the tags, how can I tell if it's genuine or fake?

Someone told me on the last page that it will have 42mm or 38mm engraved on one of the lugs and assembled in China on the other in a crisp perfectly aligned way. I guess the fakes haven't got that advanced. Plus the fake you could just feel how fake it is and how light. The real one weighs a bit more and has a smooth luxury feel to it. And the edges are really smooth.

Brilliant, thanks for that! Ended up ordering it, fingers crossed...

I just took the plunge too and ordered a Grade A 42mm Space Black Milanese Loop online, so my fingers and toes are crossed that it's the real deal :)

Forgot to report on mine... It came in an Apple box (the new flimsy one), with the plastic "tags" around the edges (it did seem they had been reapplied), and the markings are the ones that other users report as genuine.
It looks really nice, but it does occasionally catch arm hair, which none of my other bands do! I've never seen any of the non-apple ones so can't really compare, but on the whole I'm really happy with it!
Good luck with yours...

Thanks so much for the report on your band, sounds like you got the real deal too and you're pretty happy with it, so hopefully i'll get the same with mine, and i'll let you know when it arrives! :D

It arrived today!

Unfortunately, it's a fake :( I'll go to my local shop tomorrow and ask for a refund...It's a real shame though, i was so excited when the postman knocked the door lol, but the first thing i saw was that the parcel was real flat, so that meant no box even though it apparently was grade A.

If the return goes okay, i'll try ordering once more when it comes back in stock, and if that's a fake too, then i'll let it sit for a while before either trying again or just save up and order from Apple.

How do you know it was a fake?

No markings on either lug and it feels very flimsy and cheap lol. I compared it to my silver ML and you can definitely tell the difference between them, mainly the weight, it's very light compared to the real ML.

Quick question to @Samh92, how did they refund you? In the way you originally paid for it, in cash or with store credit? ;o
