1%...? I wouldn't worry about it.
I wouldn't have worried if that 1% was after an year of usage. This is something that never happened with my previous iPhones (XS Max and 12 PM). But from my past experience I've seen that once the battery loose 1% health it starts degrading faster.

Just curious does it have anything to do with the charging brick? For the first time I didn't buy apple charging brick. I bought a 20W third party brick which the retailer claimed is certified by apple. This brick charges the battery very fast. 46 to 70% in less than 20 minutes.

Just charge at 5w overnight. You don't need the fast charging. It doesn't matter if it takes 1 hour or 6 hours if you charge overnight, it's going to be full when you wake up regardless.
5W heats the 15PMs pretty hot as well. not as hot but still hot. I guess the question is is it better to be somewhat hot for 6 hours or 30%(made up number) hotter for 2 hours.

Apple ones are simply more conservative to the device battery. Nothing much more, unless fast charging is involved. Yes, underlying handshake and coordination is complex, but what I want to say is that Apple charger is a bit more gentle while third party chargers Are like whatever…

If your phone warm when in the morning when you unplug from the charger?
Nope it remains hot from whenever I start charging (roughly 20% at night) all the way up to 75-80% (at which time I usually take it off the charger before going to bed). The past two days while traveling I charged to 100% just to see what would happen and it cools way down after 80%.

I bought my iPhone 15 Pro Max on October 10, 2023 and today I checked the cycle counts and battery health its reduced to 99%. WTF!!

Having 30 cycle counts in 36 days isn't heavy by any means. 95% cases
Is my battery faulty? Should I show this to service center?

I remember with my old iPhone 12 Pro Max, it took more than an year for the battery health to reach 98%. I immediately charge the battery once its power is less than 40%. Because apple recommended not to keep the power lower than 40% for long battery life. I mostly charge up to 95-97%. There were only 2 occasions when I put it on charging and slept for couple of hours and realized that the battery was 100%
Doesn't matter. Apple won't replace the battery unless it goes below 80% within the warranty period. Doesn't matter whether it's the regular warranty or Applecare+.. I wouldn't worry about it, all batteries start their death cycle after you begin using them

Still nothing to worry about. From the factory, batteries should have "100%" health. That will vary - one battery may actually have 101% of rated capacity, and another may be at 99.51% of rated capacity. Sounds like with this phone you got one of the latter. I bet it will stay at 99% health for many months. Don't fret, just use the phone and take advantage of Apple finally including an 80% charge limit that you can fully control. That's what I do with my 15 Pro.

After a year of careful charging, (not beyond 80%, slow charger etc) my 12PM dropped to 92%. Then I quit thinking about how I charge. I charged whenever I want and with faster charger.(65W Anker, which I charge my MBP with). So in next 2 years it dopped to 83% (1190 cycles). So, don't worry about battery health, just use the device. If you are planning to keep it for more than 2 or three years, you can always change the battery at Apple. Apple says 80% health after 500 cycles so, 1% of loss after 30 cycles should be normal.

I use a 5w charger and it never gets hot while charging. Obviously not every phone is identical.

What I want to know is after the phone reaches 80%, a few hours after you plugged it in, is the phone warm in the morning when you remove it from charging. Mine is and I see no reason for it. I only use about 20% of my battery a day so when I plug my phone in, before bed, it charges to 80% in less than an hour, but stays warm until I remove it in the AM. Most iPhones I have had get a little warm when charging but then cool to room temp after the charging.

yes mine is warm if left on charger at 80% it is definitely a new thing that is happening. may not be an issue but not sure.

who gives a **** honestly - 100% means "perfect"
batteries degrade with use
it should be 99% after it's first turned on, but ok fine, rounding.

yeah u prob have a good one. mine gets warm. but still have 14PM w lightning and that one is cool when charging w 5W.
The charging ‘brick’ gets warm/hot or the iPhone? The charger will absolutely become warm/hot as it’s maxed out. The Apple Watch can max out the 5W Apple charger.

Reply thanks so much for the reply and confirmation. If heat is bad for these batteries, I can not think that having them stay warm well after they have charged is a good thing!

That was quick! I thought I would’ve been the first to 99% with a 15P and a MagSafe battery.

48 cycles, 100%

and who gives a FLYING F***

I have wrecked 3 or 4 batteries since X and gotten them replaced with AppleCare or given back the phone.

Unless you refuse to buy AppleCare while also keeping phones for 5 years, this is a futile conversation.

2nd law of thermodynamics... your 💩 will degrade. Use the phone, charge the phone and get on with life.

I echo all the others that posted we have said it a thousand times...

So 100% is 100.00000000%. The moment you use one battery cycle, it drops to 99.99X% and drops from there.

99% could easily be 99.49999% rounded down to 99%.
The manufactures always say that when the phone is new, the battery takes a couple of weeks of recharge to reach its full potential, it stays that way for some time before start degrading

So I was shocked that before it could even reach its full potential it started degrading, even if its .5%
Its not a big deal for me, it's just that I have never seen something like this in my previous 3 iPhones.

It’s not necessarily degrading more quickly, it simply means the maximum capacity when purchased new was very close to the rated capacity when new. For the 15 PM, that second number is 4441 mah.
