I'm still waiting for Nickelodeon and MTV content.
My guess is that'll only hapen when they make a deal for CBS shows since CBS/MTW/Nick are all Viacom properties.

The first group of shows were all Disney properties (ABC/Disney Channel)+ Pixar shorts, these are all NBC/Universal properties.

I think the best news here is the use of iTMS for releasing the vintage programming. If this is a success, they will think about this as a way of exploiting their back catalog as well as hit new shows.

Almost makes me want to buy an old Alfred Hitchcock episode... I love that show.

EDIT: Sucks that they only have season 1 up right now, but that's probably because it's the only one they've restored and digitized for DVD. :(

Ummm Conan sucks, what happened to the Apprentice shows people??? Oh well at least they got the Office, I can catch up on that.

You don't like Conan and you do like the Apprentice?

I think you have that the wrong way!!! :D I do like the Office though!

Hooray! Boo!!!

Yes! My wildest dreams have come true - Battlestar Galactica available for my downloading pleasure. But wait - no widescreen? VHS resolution? High price? Ugh. Make it widescreen, double the resolution (I won't expect HD quality online yet, but at least give me DVD quality...) and cut the price in half and I'm all over this. I'm hoping the current pricing and formatting isn't going to be a long-term thing. But then again, did Apple ever increase the bitrate and lower the price of songs in iTMS? Nope.

I was excited for the future. Now I'm depressed.

Guess I'll be waiting for the DVDs to come out so I can rent them. Note to studios (and to Steve): you'd make a lot more money from me if you'd make your online offerings more appealing.

Why the hell would anyone pay $1.99 to watch vintage episodes of "Adam- 12" or "Knight Rider"?!?! What a joke!

Conan only wrote a few episodes in seasons 3 and 4...I will suggest Mr. Plow was great, but Seasons 6-8 were really the golden years

I didn't know Conan was involved with the Mr. Plow episode...that is a good one!

sounds like great news, so when can Canadians buy our hit TV shows, like Corner Gas or something

On a side note, we Canadians did get an exclusive live Tragically Hip album today. :) It's available in stores as a DVD, but iTunes is the only place you can buy just the audio. I can't stand watching concerts, so I for one am most happy.

Old people (with apologies to those who watched Adam-12 or Knight Rider as new episodes).

I grew up in the 90s, so Knight Rider was one of those USA re-run shows that I watched when and only when absolutely nothing else was on. But, think big picture - if iTunes can be opened to a whole new audience, especially with shows like Adam-12, Hitchcock Presents, etc., from the 1950s and 1960s, then when it comes time for whatever the new video streaming media experience thingy, Apple will be able to truly reach a mass market, like they did with the iPod. One of the points behind iTMS' gajillion songs from the beginning of time until now is to appeal to those who don't really like today's offerings. As my financial advisor mentioned when I bought some AAPL back in mid-October (already a 25% return...wow), there are a lot of people out there that still don't have an iPod, and most of them are over 40. True or not, she had a point.

Cool!

That was a pleasant little surprise to wake up to....now let's get FOX and The Simpsons onboard!:D

I completely agree. Bandwith is cheap enough for them to give users the option of high-quality downloads. There's just a laziness there of getting away with the bare minimum; but kudos to them for at least getting this thing started. The rest of TV and movie land is hopelessly behind the times, having not taken advantage of internet downloads yet.

How about this? Someone sets up a company that gives my money to whoever should be receiving it. I can find places online to pirate high-quality DVDs and HDTV at blazing speeds; since existing legal services seem incapable of understanding this concept of speed and quality, I'll keep downloading from the people who do seem to get it. Just set up some sort of service whereby I can pay a couple of royalty bucks to whoever should be getting the money...

What a total RIP-OFF! Did you notice what you get for your $1.99 for Jay Leno or Conan? 5-12 Minutes of TV! This is not a full show! You're getting some lame Triumph the Insult Dog doing a bit or Jay's Lame-A monologue. And if you want a full episode of about an hour, Conan wants $10! This is outrageous. I hope they don't get any downloads with that attitude. (Of course, I'm referring to NBC not Apple.)

And I must say I'm quite a bit dissapointed all around with the shows they DID give us. Dragnet, Adam 12, Knight Rider, Hitchcock, etc... Lame. Law & Order is the only decent show they gave us, but with ZERO past episodes. Again, Lame.

If you want to reach me, NBC, get me all the episodes of The West Wing, Third Watch and Will & Grace -- then you'll see some of my money. Yes, I realize those are off the air or soon will be, but they were are some of the best TV over the last 10 years from NBC. Of course, contractually, they probably can't which explains why were getting Conan for $9.99.

While I really appreciate that they are doing this, I would also like it if they would create a second copy that you could buy in Widescreen for any applicable shows (like Battlestar Galactica).

The quality still is really nice at its small size, however with this 17" powerbook, I would really appreciate a full-screen experience of this really great show.

For any 4x3 show, I would sure as hell buy it through here without a thought, and was about to for Battlestar until I felt really screwed over by it not being Widescreen yet still similarly priced to the DVDs ($25 vs $30).

Still only of interest to catch eps that maybe my DVR Chokes on. I Just ripped my Season 1 boxset of Adam 12 to the pod. I Paid $23 for the set, on Itunes I'd have to pay 24 Episodes x $1.99 to get these. My rips are 480x352 2500 BR and look Pretty good on a standard TV, Itunes are 320x240 Grainy. You get the Idea.

Very nice! I expected more shows, but not this suddenly. None of the new shows really interest me, but still... the more, the better! Now where is FOX? I'd love to download Family Guy episodes. :)

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to insist on an original aspect ratio for purchases. I'm not spending $2 to download a cut version of a show. Why would they do this in the first place? Wouldn't it be easier just to keep the original ratio?

You mean... Battlestar Galactica isn't in widescreen on iTMS?!

I hope that BSG will not only have the tv mini but the series at some point. Fantastic that other networks are jumping on the bandwagon.

Season 1 and season 2 are now also on-line along with the 4 part min-series.
